VISTA ICONS

File icons and the program on my desktop and in Windows Explorer have a small symbol in the lower left corner.  Can be turned on and off?  In addition, what do the different symbols?

Hello

  • How can I get rid of the little blue box on file Vista icons?

How can I get rid of the little blue box on file icons? Like the shortcut symbol, it is in the lower left corner. It's a solid blue rectangle with 2 white "" superior to "sign, as to point to the right." He appeared on the recently created new files, MS Word and jpg photos. I find a nuisance when you try to view photo icons because it hides part of the image.

  • Power Manager Vista icon has no color

This is a new installation of Vista Ultimate on a T61p 6459 - CTO, after all the Windows updates and Lenovo system update, the Power Manager icon that sits next to the Notification area is white and battery life remaining text is pale, blue and very difficult to read, instead of the usual black on green background text. Anyone seen this before? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Solved! This is the Aero scheme. The task bar is semi-transparent, and it affects the color of the icon!

  • Vista icons in windows Explorer refreshes every minute or so, how fix?

Every minute or so icons start refreshing in Explorer. I tried increasing the icon hidden in the registry, the removal of "IconChache.db", all to nothing is (apart from reinstalling my OS). Whenever the icons updated performance decreases significantly. I ran antivirus (Avast free with Microsoft Security Essentials) scans, everything came without any problem. On another note, Explorer sometimes crashes when opening an image.

  • New investment of Vista icon on the desktop

My Vista desktop is set to show medium icons, with autoarrange and snap to grid.  Whenever I have create a new icon on the desktop (i.e. save a file it), it seems just under the computer icon in the upper left corner.  However, I keep a number of icons on my desktop, so it moves all other icons to the bottom and to the right.

In Windows XP, all the new icons would be automatically placed to the "end" (in bottom right) of all the icons already on the desk.  Is it possible to get Vista to do the same?

It's just more convenient to always have the old icons in the expected location and new appear on the "end" of the list.

    Thank you.

Open your office in Explorer and sort by date descending. You must use the setting in Folder Options to allow the records to be kept their own settings.

  • Vista Icons refreshing 3 times each time you start

Hi, I have an annoying problem with my laptop. It is currently running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, the processor is a Celeron M clocked at 1.8 Ghz with SATA drive of 160 GB (half full) and 2 GB of RAM. I'm having a problem with the freshness of desktop icons 3 times whenever I start the computer, it's more a gene that it slows down the time before I can access the programs. I tried different things, including the cleaning disk, Virus Scan, Registry Clean (CCCleaner), removal of spyware (Spybot S & D and Windows Defender), Disk Defragmenter, Msconfig (disable startup items and services various), remove and renew the icon Cache etc., disabling of Windows Aero, no sidebar. In my notification area, there is only the volume, network icon, battery icon, touchpad and antivirus (AVG, have tried to disable AVG as that which has been proposed as a problem, but it was no difference).

Other than this problem the computer works well, but the icon refresh is annoying, and this habit never to arrive, even with a smaller hard drive and less memory.

Anyone know of a solution? I can post more details if necessary just I want to know what you would like.

Hi thanks for the reply, I tried what you suggested the most, but I think I found the solution then post here in case someone else has this problem. I ran msconfig and unchecked the options for the ATI driver helper objects Browser (display), it's Ati external event utility in the services tab.

After reboot, the problem seems to have disappeared, tried 3 reboots since then and the PC seems to start much more quickly.

Now I want to know is there anyway I can commit this so that I don't have to use the selective startup option, or do I have to disable services individually in services.msc?

  • How to make Vista icons?

The question may seem semi-noobish just in his nature, but I used Photoshop and similar programs for the last 3 years of my life (I have just 17) and know my way well enough to work. I tried to make an icon for Vista (in fact Windows 7 RC, but it uses the same guidelines) and simply cannot operate. I have my icon made in a size of 256 x 256 and saved in .png. I have change the .xml file for my library that I want to the icon to go, but he simply modifies the default folder icon. XML coding is good, location is OK, so it should be in how I made the icon.

Now, I know that the default icon in the 'Vista guides' requires 256 x 256 and 11 other sizes; I thought it would just reduce automatically. I resize the icon manually in separate layers or what?

And I apologize if it's in the wrong place or this has been answered. I searched the internet for at least 30 minutes, searched this forum slightly and came up empty. Also sorry if this sounds more like a Windows problem rather than a question of Photoshop, but usually enter a Windows forum and request that you will have a bunch of garbage, because they may or may not have experience of making icons.

P.S. The PNG is not interlaced; should not make a difference, but I'm trying to cover all the little details.

  • Vista icons too small

My icons on the taskbar went very small so that you have to peer at them to see what they are - I'm sure that's not how they used to be! -Very small & no text...

Can someone tell me how to fix this please?

It's just my icons that were too small.

However, after the foregoing advice I managed to get my PC to do a system restore to a date for a long time, while it's not exactly practical it has now solved the problem, although I have no idea what was causing the problem. The icons seem to be not bigger than see you on Win7, in any case problem solved now!
