Vista reads SD 8 GB but no 16 GB?

Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv9500 laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium edition (32-bit), SP2 with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.20 GHz, 2 GB ram.

By not using the (internal) SD card reader, my laptop has no problem to read a SanDisk 8 GB card.

I just got a card... but GB SanDisk Extreme HD Video 16 the the Vista laptop (described above) will not read the card.  The message when I try to access is: "insert a disc into the secure digital storage device.

I know that the card is good, because I can see the files in my camera... and in another laptop I have that works in Windows 7.  I also formatted using the Windows 7 laptop (it will not format in the Vista machine).

I downloaded KB936825 and restarted.  Yet, 16 GB can not be read on the Vista machine.

Any ideas?

Just some thoughts...

Is it possible that your media player is not compatible
with the technology of the GBcard 16...

Connect a camera to your PC via the USB cable
no doubt will allow you to upload photos.

And maybe you could buy an external support
compatible with the 16 GB Extreme player
SDHC technology.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

This troubleshooting could not help if there is alignment and/or wear issues however it
    a shot.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

You can recode this treatment so that it uses only:

    e.nextElement ())

    Once a loop iteration.

Directly at the start saying something like:

    String fileName = e.nextElement ());

and use fileName everywhere in your loop.

Also be aware that printStackTrace() will do nothing in your situation, it only works if you catch Throwable.  So make sure you something output all your catches exception and also have a catch (Throwable t) to catch the things you miss, as follows:

    {} catch (Throwable t)

    t.printStackTrace ();

    System.out.println ("Eception exception:" + t.toString ());

    }

I think your code is thrown an exception and you don't see it.

I tried to update to windows, but get error 80070490 that says I have a corrupted file (CBS Manifest) that is to be updated... so I check the error and it says to uninstall windows and reinstall using the dvd... but I don't have the dvd for windows vista service pack 2... I ran to day thought advise that I could upgrade to windows 7... but apparently so that I can fix the problems of windows, I'm stuck. Thanks for any help!

    Hello

Error code 80070490 claims a repair upgrade install, not an uninstall and clean reinstall.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-Update-error-80070490

If you receive the Windows Update 80070490 error, it means that a file (CBS Manifest) that is needed to install updates is corrupt. To correct this problem, you will need repair Windows. Repair Windows will not damage your personal files or the programs that are installed on your computer.

Have you tried the other option for system update readiness tool in the link I just gave you?

The System Update Readiness Tool for Windows can correct some conditions that cause Windows Update 80070490 error. You can access and run this tool by reading this Knowledge Base article on the Microsoft Web site.

And you need a DVD of Vista from Microsoft to do a repair installation upgrade according to the instructions, NOT the normal manufacturer's recovery disks.

You will need to borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD from a friend or working knowledge.

Here's how a repair upgrade installation:

"How to perform a repair for Vista Installation"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-Vista.html

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And if you can't get a loan from a Vista DVD from Microsoft, you may need to do a reinstall of Vista:

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '
