Vista takes network offline printer

Vista continues to disconnect the network printer. I have uninstall and then re-install the printer in Control Panel. Never had this problem with XP. It is not the network, because I can print from our cell phones. All the drivers are installed and up-to-date. The printer is a HP Officejet Pro 7780 All In One.  It's very frustrating.

Is there a solution to this problem? Thank you

Hello

(1) make sure that the file and printer sharing is enabled.

(2) If you are using a computer connected to a "working group", click on the arrow next to password protected sharing to expand this section.  Check if password protected sharing is enabled or disabled.

If the password sharing is enabled, only people with a user account and password for this computer will be able to access your printer. Disable this option if you want anyone on the network can access the printer you share unless you give then a user account and password.

Install the printer driver

Use a driver downloaded from the manufacturer's site to install the printer

1. If you use the downloaded driver, double-click the downloaded file, then click on 'run '. The file will then be extracted and start the driver installation.

2 follow the prompts and continue with the installation until you reach the Setup completed screen appears.

3. on this screen, check the "Select" printer port box, and then click on the manual button 'Selection '.

4. Select "" LPT1: port local printer ' and click on 'OK', then click 'Finish'. "

5. in the Printers window, right-click the printer icon and select 'Properties' (access to the Printers window)

6. click on the tab "Ports", and then click 'Add Port '.

7. Select "Local Port" and click "new port" button.

8. Enter the name of the port using the XP computer name and the name of the printer in the \\ComputerName\PrinterName form and then click 'OK '. Close the Port name window.

9. click on 'Close' in the Printer Ports window.

10. the new port poster now as being selected. Click "close".

11. click on "Install driver" If the following window appears. You are now ready to print.

Another thing is to make sure that if the firewall windows is that there is an exception specified for sharing files and printing.

Make sure that all the computers are on the same workgroup. By default, XP machines are set to "MSHOME" while Vista machines are set to "WORKGROUP". They should both say WORKGROUP.

  • DeskJet 1000 c: Complications with Vista in network printing

I'm having some trouble with my DeskJet 1000 c on my home office network. It is currently connected to a PC running Vista Home Premium 32 - bit edition, with a parallel cable. It prints very well on the local computer and also of my MacBook Pro via the network when I boot into Windows XP Professional 32-bit. The problem comes when I try to print over the network from a PC running Vista Home Premium 64 - bit edition. When I do that, work quickly appears and disappears from the queue of the host machine. the printer keeps a piece of paper and wait with power light flashes but will not do anything else until another job is sent or the power is off. At this point, the tip sheet of paper is ejected and the printer supports future work of printer. If it's a local job or one of XP, it allows to print; If it's a network of Vista 64 work he advances another sheet of paper and wait.

I have a topic on the forum of Microsoft on the same problem:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistanetworking/thread/ead5a88d-34ab-4e99-AE45-f7d151ae2e6e

They seem to think that it is a driver issue, but I find a little strange that the driver supplied with Windows would work on 32-bit editions, but not 64-bit.

I'm also looking for a printer driver that works with Mac OS X; He was not the one included with Gimp-print, and is available for download from the HP Support site seems to be only in a local printer, not one on a network. I tried to add a 'Generic' printer, but I know not (doubt) if the DeskJet 1000 c printer supports PostScript. When you print using the 'Generic' driver, the print job appears and disappears from the queue of the host machine, but the printer does nothing.

I would like to point out that my printer/network configuration type of disorder; I have 3 dekstops and 3 printers (one connected to each desktop) plus a laptop. All computers can print to the other two printers on the network (HP PSC 500 and Xerox Phaser 6100) very well. The only problem seems to be with the DeskJet 1000 C printer.

I appreciate any assistance granted; I was generally very happy with printers HP and their support of pilot over the years. I guess that the support for this one is not as strong, because it is so old and probably not as popular as the other models because it is a printer large format.

There is a patch that solves the problem available here.

  • BIOS update take printers offline networking

    HP Pavilion 500-056

I was warned that a BIOS update was available, so I agreed.

Yesterday and today, none of my network (two brothers and a HP) printers will display! I managed to get my Brother MFC-J825DW to print if I've implemented as USB, but not if it is networked.

However, one of my brothers and my HP large Format are both offline and will not print. They are in another room and it is simply not possible to get them all in the same room with my desktop computer.

Not only printers will not properly work, but I've noticed problems with my system to stay online.

Everything worked perfectly before the BIOS update!

    @StarFerret

You're right, I don't know how I missed your mention of Windows 8.1. On the issue of re - install, I have asked for because the installer of the printer can be interpreted as re - create the queue and do not reinstall the software. With the re-installation of the software, we would get all registry enteries released. Now, it is possible that the same software re-installed will remain corrupt. In this case I suggest to go to the program and features uninstall the software, then go to Device Manager and remove and remove the printer from the system. We have then restart the computer and re-install the printer software once more.

If you could try all the steps I mentioned that you have not already tried that would be helpful. Also, if there is not that you have tried and are not please post those as well so I don't post things back, you've already tried.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Printer has stopped working - status of network offline

My Officejet series 4600 (4622) worked well for almost two years with a USB connection. Yesterday I interrupted while he was printing a document (something I've done before), and then I could not do print again. The computer can detect the printer but says it is "not connected".

The powers of printer on / off power of the fine. He made copies. It is not blocked. His configuration of said network status page: Type of connection offline and Active: No.

Also the printer does not print with the laptop that we print occasionally. The laptop also says that the printer is not connected.

I tried turning power and off the computer, the printer (separately and together) and the router. I changed the printer cable for different ports on the printer and the computer. I got a new printer cable. I used the doctor scanning & printing to HP. I removed the printer and re - he added. I uninstalled the printer and re-installed driver software (the latest version). Nothing has worked.

Do I need a new printer, or y at - it a solution that I have not tried?

Thank you for your help... After posting my problem, I found that it was indeed a connection problem with the cable.

    Hello NicePerson,

Thank you for your message.  Since that a network printer, you can print to this printer from where you are now?  If you can print to the printer you are, then you should be able to add the printer from your location via TCP/IP.  The steps are:
Click "Start" > click on "printers and faxes".
    Click on "add a printer".
Click on "Next" > ensure that only "Local printer attached to this computer" is checked, the other two inputs must remain empty.  Click "next".
Click on "Create a new port" > use the drop down arrow to select "Standard TCP/IP Port" > click "next".
    Click "next".
Type the correct IP address of the printer and complete the wizard by installing the drivers, etc..
Please let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problem.

  • USB printer on a Vista wireless network connects to the laptop Vista.

The printer is a Kodak AiO ESP 3, connected via USB to a desktop Vista Home built.  Second office is a homebuilt XP, which has no printing the printer problem.  It detects automatically.  Laptop is a Toshiba L305D-S5928, also running Vista Premium family, installed at the factory.  Laptop computer "sees" the printer installed on the desktop when it tries to connect, I get a message that says: it cannot connect to it.  It is as it tries to connect to it as if the printer is a wireless printer, and this isn't.

Make sure that the printer is Vista Compatible and you have installed the latest Kodak printer drivers for the Vista machine.

  • Windows 7 continues to show a printer networked 'offline '.

It's a Samsung CLP-300N. What is strange, it is Windows 7 shows the printer as offline and refuse to submit jobs, hower the Samsung Smart Panel shows the printer online and in a READY State. I can even browse the printer browser based control panel.

If I remove the printer in the "Devices and printers" Control Panel, then reinstall, it goes back to normal operation until the next time re - turn on the computer.

Please do not waste your efforts to hit drivers, firmware, connections, etc.

  • Network HP printer problem

I have a new laptop under Vista Home Premium and using a wireless LAN.  I am trying to set up a printer in network, (a HP Deskjet 932c printer) and get a "server doesn't have the installed printer driver."  The print server is running Microsoft Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3.  It seems to be looking for a *. INF file somewhere.  Is there a way I can get this to work?  Yet one thing, the printer works fine when I'm on the print server.

    Hello ColoradoEd,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Community Forum.

Several computers connected to a network can share the printer connected to a computer. To share the printer, configure the printer as a shared printer on the server or the host (the computer connected to the printer). Make sure that you install the printer driver on each client or the system remote (computers other than the server).
It is preferable to obtain the most recent driver of your Web site. Also check that the printer is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista.

If Windows XP Professional Edition is the host:

    1. open the Printers window.
    2. click the right button on your printer list, and then select "Sharing" in the menu that appears.

    3. Select 'Share this printer', type a share name for the printer and click on 'OK '. Take note of this name as it will be used later.

When Windows Vista is the client:

    8. Enter the name of the port using the XP computer name and printer name in the form \\Computer Name\Printer name using the information obtained in the GET the name of the server computer. and implement the host machine. sections, above, then click on 'OK '. Close the Port name window.

    9. click on 'Close' in the Printer Ports window.

    10. the new port poster now as being selected. Click "close".

    11. click on "Install driver" If the following window appears. You are now ready to print.

If please post again and let us know if this lets get your network printer running on all client computers.
