  • Blue screen on a Vista Ultimate computer with My Book World Edition NAS drive when SSDP Discovery service is enabled.

I recently added a Western Digital My Book World Edition (White Light) 1 TB NAS drive to my home network for backup purposes. The drive works very well with my two wired computers Windows XP and my computer Windows Vista Home Edition wireless. My problem is with Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit) wireless station (a Lenovo IBM ThinkPad X 61 Tablet PC).

On the Vista Ultimate computer, if I have sudden, Normal startup, then the computer will work fine except for when I go to shut down the computer. When I stop, the computer crashes for twenty minutes, suffered a blue screen (BSOD, saying he was arrested wrongly) event and then restarts automatically. This only happens if the drive My Book World Edition is online on the network. Turn the player off line and there is no problem on the computer.

I reduced the problem down to the SSDP Discovery service. If I disable the SSDP Discovery service, then the problem goes away. (I do not consider that a viable permanent solution.)

The big difference between Vista computers is only on the computer to Vista Home (one that has no problem), MIMBOE drive does not appear in Device Manager at all. On the computer Vista Ultimate (the one with the problem), the reader MIMBOE appears once under the record heading and once under system devices.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry to everyone i this is my first attempt to answer.  I had the same problem with the hard drive WD book networked world stop.  WD has released a new firmware that fixed my problem on September 10, 2009.  I suggest that you try to update the firmware and maybe you'll be as lucky as I was.

  • Windows Vista Ultimate Edition with HP Color LaserJet CM1015 MFP

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, the computer was bought in 2008, 32-bit.  I also use HP Color LaserJet CM1015 MFP - about once a year, I have a major problem with the scan software & Windows Vista.  Both machines are in good working condition.  This time, I actually uninstalled the HP software and bought a new CD from HP specfically for Vista and installed the Vista software for the HP mfp - however, the scan option does not appear in the center of HP solutions as a button.  This is a feature I've always used.  What is the HP Solution Center is the scanner is not installed - although in the installed software.  Last night, I downloaded a patch and that did not correct the problem.  In addition, the HP LaserJet CM 1015 is in 'scanners and cameras' in the Panel configuration, but not in the HP Solution Center...

  • For Vista Ultimate system with no disk restore

I try to wipe my computer and back to the original without the disk system restore settings.  This computer was originally shipped with windows XP, but I installed Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.  I bought a new computer and have already transferred all my files, I just need to clean it now before I give it.

I tried a few measures based on advice that does not take place.  I tried hitting F8 on startup, told me to highlight the "Repair computer" option, but there is no option.

What should I do to take this for a Vista Ultimate perfectly clean, or at least back to the factory settings?

  • HP205 G4 Intel i35005u: problem with RAM upgrade

    Hello

I recently acquired a HP205 G4 laptop with 4 GB of RAM installed in one of the two slots.  It has a free slot and a max RAM 8 GB capacity.  As I have a 4 GB stick lying around, I thought I would be a free upgrade of RAM and so I placed in unoccupied housing and booted up.

My problem is that neither information system or UEFI sees the newly installed stick and States I have still 4 GB of RAM, however, Speccy see the two 4 GB sticks and indicates he has 8 GB of RAM.  It may or may not be relevant but Speccy also States that the system memory is single channel.

The sticks are Samsung and the two DDR3.  They, however, have different bandwidth (PC3-10700 & PC3-12800) and voltage (1.35 & 1.5).  Now as I know the speed will be simply fixed by the slower stick and so both should work.  This leaves the tension, but if it was a problem, I don't expect Speccy to see the extra stick (1.5V) at all.

So I wonder, is tension the key culprit?  Will be 1,5 volt RAM spare part - I have also a 2 GB stick - I simply does not work on this motherboard?  Is there something I missed or can I do to get the system to see what sees Speccy and thus use 8GBs?

    Cheers for any help.

Do not use this old memory in this new laptop. If you want to run 8 gigs, get a second identical DDR3L-1600 module. Even if she would go with the DDR3-1066 RAM at this speed, do you really think 8 gigs clocked at 1066 is slightly better than running at 1600 mhz 4 gigs? I say no. There is also the question of the timing of the CPU to memory cycles cycles. You can really shake things up and cripple performance trying to use memory that runs at a different speed that the motherboard was designed to use. The motherboard is to protect themselves by refusing to see and to try to work with this alien memory.

  • Update problem with Vista Ultimate SP2

I tried to install sp2 to Vista Ultimate twice, with the same results, he failed. The whole process took about 6 hours to complete. The second go round, I disabled my Norton 360 anti virus and turned to "silent". SP2 looked like, it had been installed with success, until I restarted the system. The pc then rebooted and was told that the upgrade was not successful and was recovering to its previous state.

The upgrade works great on my laptop when I run "home premium". The upgrade of the laptop took less than an hour.

No idea what is causing the problem, or do I just have to live with what I have?

    Hi Clocksnopper,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

Clocksnopper, this problem may occur if any program on your computer interfered with the installation of the service pack, or if there is an inconsistency in the store of Windows services. The store Windows maintenance is a required component to install service packs.

For more of this, you can try the steps present in the following article below:

  • What can I reinstall/upgrade Vista Ultimate OEM 32 bit Vista Ultimate 64-bit using the upgrade CD that I bought?

Please help me with the steps I must follow to upgrade/reinstall my Vista Ultimate OEM 32 bit Vista Ultimate 64-bit.  I bought the upgrade CD, but I keep reading that I can't upgrade, I have to re - install.  How do, or have I just wasted my money?

    Thank you

    David

The two DVD come in the box of Vista Ultimate.  The same upgrade key works for both.  The procedure is to let the 32-bit version on the hard drive for the verification of license and a custom installation will work.  The hardware hash will be the same and the product key is the same for the activation servers to happen anyway as a repair installation.

  • Can I upgrade Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate using a version FULL of Vista Ultimate?

I am running 32-bit Vista Edition Home Premium and I have a brother who has the 32-bit version Vista Ultimate FULL with key he never wanted or used.
My question is: can I put mine to ultimate using this version and it wouldn't be an upgrade or I do a clean install?
    Thank you
    Rich

If this is a good DVD of Vista from Microsoft, will give you the Option to upgrade.

You start him, you do an upgrade of a race and a Vista version active.

Just watch out for the Service Pack levels, which have fixed before upgrade Option appears:

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/948537

"How to uninstall Windows Vista service packs"

If the installed OS has the disk with Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 > uninstall SP2 installed operating system > install the upgrade > reinstall SP2.

And run the upgrade of a Vista operating system.

    See you soon.

  • Windows Vista Ultimate Edition will not be upgraded to Windows 7

Windows 7 Upgrade says he cannot directly upgrade Windows XP, duh?  I ran the Upgrade Advisor before running the upgrade software and did not get this stupid message. I get only when the software upgrade performs its checks.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition with all updates to September 24, 2013.

Which edition of Windows 7? It matches the edition of Vista you are trying to upgrade to?

When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:

Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • Using Vista Ultimate upgrad DVD on the new machine

I upgraded my computer which had OEM Vista Home of Windows Vista Ultimate Edition by buying an upgrade DVD, now 'only' computer died and I want to improve my new computer that has Vista Home OEM Vista Ultimate using the same Upgrade DVD. The final result uses the DVD to upgrade on a single computer, because the first died. How can I transfer the liscense to this software Vista Ultimate Upgrade to my new computer?

Perform the upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate as you normally and if you are unable to activate over the internet, then select the alternative "activate by phone".

  • Vista Ultimate 64 will not install on Tyan S2915E, but Ultimate 32 is fine

Vista Ultimate 32 will install, but not Ultimate 64. The installation is done, but at the first reboot, the OS will crash with blue screen of death (STOP: 0x0000007E (0xFF...) 5, ...).

Since Ultiate 32 works very well, I think that there is a problem with 64-bit drivers. In my view, there is a version updated to Vista Ultimate 64 with SP1. Do you know if this version solves the problem, and if so, can you send me a copy if I send my product key?

    Thank you

    Dan.

The only other suggestions in the Windows documentation if there is no update of the BIOS are:

    • Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading.

You can also disable caching memory BIOS to try to resolve the error. You must also run the diagnostics of material, especially the scanner memory, which provides the manufacturer of the system. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.

  • Exception code 80000003 crashes ie 7 and sidebar on a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64

    Hi all

I want to thank everyone in advance * beep * 1 built in (DVD burning directly downloaded from the microsoft technet web site).
Virus/Malware protection: no (because I've been connected to no more than 3 minutes, did not visit all other sites as microsoft.com or google.com on this pure install and am sure it's not either 99.99%).  I'm also behind my wireless linksys integrated in the firewall (model #: wrt54g), although my computer is directly connected by a LAN cable.
I partitioned the 640 GB HARD drive in a 200 GB C drive and 400 GB of storage using Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise server.

I did a complete reinstall of Vista Ultimate 64 bit (even once with Service Pack 1 built in).  I really don't want to do an upgrade, like #1) I already activated my new copy of Vista Ultimate 64 and also #2) I don't want any additional programs installed with the original operating system on the system (Windows Vista Home Premium).

I backed up my old Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate (pre and post authentication).

I have installed any other programs.

I tried to download the current drivers for my system to...
    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?OS=2100&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3820307
who has not solved the problem.  In fact, install the drivers HD Audio actually killed all my sound capabilities (which was running under the ultimate copy before hand).

Just in case it is important, I changed the drive letters to the following
    C drive: remains the same
Drive D: (original Image) has changed to drive F ("F' actory_Image)
Space additional storage on the HARD drive (from partition).  S Drive created (by Yann "S").

    -Errors-
My question arrise when I open IE7 and try to goto several websites which (I'm fairly certain) makes a system call the IE 7 plant.  I'll post all the errors below.  This same exception also blocks the windows sidebar in a few moments of implementation of the operating system.

The following errors are created when in stall 'certain' drivers (from memory, I think that the HD Audio driver)
"This program could not have installed correctly".

If this program was not installed correctly, try reinstalling using settings that are compatibiel with this version of windows.

Here are the errors thrown by the sidebar and IE7.

    Jayjay,

Thanks again for the quick response.  Finally, I discovered that I have installed a copy of the bad/debugging of my BONES from the site web technet.  While I'm still holding my breath, I have not seen any recurrence of the previous major problems (i.e. crash IE7 & sidebar).  I'll see how the drivers for my sound card, but it seems that windows sees as HD Audio device.  I can just "let sleeping dogs lie" and call it all off.  No matter, I'll make a backup of this 'success' more returned.

Thanks again for all your support.

Also, FYI, it's the 32 and 64-bit version of ie7 crashed.  I think it had something to do with the file "mshtml.dll.  Anyway, that's how I found the solution to...

    http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/ASPNET/32760139/IE7-crash-mshtmldll-Err.aspx

It is a 32-bit system, it also seems to describe a lot of problems that I came across.

With audio beeps, I ended up having the work to reverse the default windows (again, it is in the older operating system).

In addition, some other oddities that I would like to post (in case some unfortunate soul happens to have the same problem and stumbles on this page).

    (1) during startup (before the windows loading popped up bar), it would always be 'check' my hard drives connected, say something to the extent of the "Drive?: checked and OK" or something similar.

    (2) this particular build continued throwing exceptions to a player that I had ever installed software, wording of error below is very accurate (for the part that I copied).

Failed in the declaration of report file
    d:\rtm\enduser\officeconvertors\src\core\html\imain.c, line 352.
Cannot open the registry key for converer!

In any case, for those who want a solution, try to upload a better copy of Vista.   I personally just installed the Vista Ultimate Edition with Service Pack 2 Beta.

    Hello

I visited the European Toshiba driver page and didn t find the Vista drivers for the U400 PSU44E series.
Are you sure that you downloaded the good HDD Protection Utility to 100%?

At the other hand that this error message may appears because the HDD Protection Utility is not fully compatible with the ultimate edition of Vista
I read in some messages that this might be the reason also.
