Hi Amby,
You can try to install the updates in Mode without failure. To do this, please follow the instructions below.
When the computer restarts, press F8 while it is starting up.
In the Advanced Boot Menu of Options, select Mode safe mode with networking
Once the computer starts in Mode safe, it will hopefully install the updates that you have problems with. If this does not work, try the following steps to perform a system restore.1. Insert your Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive and start your computer
2. Press any key when the message "press any key to boot from the CD or DVD shows on the screen.
3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.
4. click on repair your computer.
5. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, select the drive of your Windows installation and click Next
6. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click System Restore.
7. follow the System Restore Wizard and choose the appropriate restore point.
8. click Finish to restore the system.
Please let us know if you need more help, or have any other questions. Thank you.

8004703EE Windows Vista update error
Salvation; I have tried for more than a week to install the update for Windows Vista for x 64-based systems (KB972145) such as recommended by the alert update and for some reason, I get error code 800703EE.
I tried to solve the problems without result. I tried to disable Windows Media such as recommended, but it does not work. I tried to turn on the Windows Firewall, but it does not work (read this can help, even if it is not sensible for me). I have Norton Utilities protect my computer. Can someone help me with this problem? Very much appreciated.

Windows Vista update error 80080005.
I just bought a new laptop. I ran windows update and after you download 34 updates, it installed 14 then asked me if I wanted to install IE 8.
I clicked No. (or remind me later), and then I was forced to do a reboot.
During the restart, he installed the updates, but gave me an error saying that he had to go back. After about an hour, I was able to connect again, but when I went to redo the windows update I got an error code 80080005.
Now I can't even on wireless internet or really do anything. How can I fix it?
Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:
1. a System Restore to before the updates:
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next
If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.
In addition, you can do this way:
2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window
> then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.
In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
> Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.
> or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it
Post back with update KB number, you are having problems with.

Maybe these can help if you can get Safe Mode or use a disc of Vista (if you do not borrow)
a friend of as they are not protected against copying).I guess that part of the question could be a driver which is really old or similar should not be loaded.
This exit Windows updates on (after you have access) and stop the updates of the driver to load.

Hello
Method 1:
I suggest you to reset the Windows Update components manually by following the steps in the section Let me fixit myself .
Warning: the section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-the-registry .
Method 2: Analysis of SFC (System File Checker)
SFC scan will find all missing or incorrect system files and repairs them.
See the following site:
How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7
