  1. first of all, please check that there is no any third-party firewall preventing Windows Update to communicate with "update.microsoft.com.

  2. check if Windows Firewall is blocking the update of Windows.

  1 disable UAC. Down comes the restrictions - turn it off completely.
  2 restart your computer for the change to take effect.
  3 re - download the update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB982331) from the link below:

• 0x8078012D error code when you back up the new pc for external hard drive

  I have a brand new HP Pavilion Windows 7 Home Premium desktop/8 GB memory/1 terabyte hard drive. Just hung up 3 days ago, and after installing my software, attempted to perform a full backup with the image of a brand new Toshiba Canvio 500 GB external hard drive. I get 0x8078012D error code, without interruption.  I did a check on the external hard drive disk, and it was good. I did a check for virus on the external hard drive, and that was good. I have triple checked the settings for backup and they are as I want them to be. -What is the Toshiba external hard drive or my bad nine HP desktop computer?  I had to call HP tech support yesterday as 2 programs, I had already installed has stopped working, but also Java and Adobe Flash Player. HP technical support was not only bad in his work, but right has supported up and hard with me and talked to me. I told her to give me control of my computer and down the phone that I reported him. He wrecked settings that I had, I did a system restore on the eve of the appellant, which was day 2 of owning the new pc. Now everything works as it was and I think that the 2 programs stopped working due to a Microsoft update that I had done that day. I don't have re-uploaded the 6 latest updates from MS and pc seems to work very well, but I can still save on the Toshiba Canvio external hard drive. Last resort, I reformatted the Toshiba Canvio to NTFS, even if it has already formatted to. Still can not make a backup on the external drive. I don't know what to do.
