Vista upgrade to win 8

upgrade vista to windows 8, big mistake, nothing but problems. My dvd burner is now not working so I can't reset to factory conditions, any ideas

Has been very lucky, when I upgraded I access key has bought and downloaded windows 8. In doing so, it does not erase your entire disk, it keeps your previous settings to a file. When I went into program files, I found Acers e-recovery. Activated and now I have Vista on my bench, Phew, and the DVD driver works again

My computer was working fine under Vista 64-bit. I got the upgrade CD Win 7 64 bit. The installation went well. But after a few days I get BSOD. The computer hangs at random: opening Visual Studio or even open a folder. The graphics card shows as NVidia GeForce 9100 in the Device Manager. I downloaded and installed the latest driver from HP site. That did not help. Then I installed the latest driver from NVidia site itself; This file is named: 195.62_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql.exe, but that did not help either one.

Taskbark of the window has a message that 'graphic NVIdia has stopped working"and then recommend downloading drivers.

    Hello

you have a post very confused as to what you ae trying to do

you don't have to get windows 7; It's up to you whether you buy it or not

and the upgrade of operating systems is different from the upgrade of the editions in a particular operation systyem

and if you upgrading vista from one edition to another and the installed operating system vista had SP2 and upgrade does not, you uninstall SP2 upgrade then reinstall SP2

  • I want to upgrade to win 7

    Separated from this thread.

my vista machine won't allow new IE or Chrome.  Web sites works only with IE 9

I want to upgrade to win 7.  (impossible to go to win 10).  HP does not provide win 7 drivers for my computer.   expert HP Forum hp claims that vista drivers work with win 7.   Suggested to download all the drivers on a jump drive ahead so they can be installed manually if there is a problem... Does seem legitimate?

Chrome version 49.0.2623.112 is recent and taken in charge. I install and use it until you can find another solution.

Windows Vista end of support is April 2017, then you should really consider upgrading to Windows 7. Both Vista and Windows 7 share the same driver model. Windows Vista (version 6.0), Windows 7 (version 6.1), so you should be able to use Windows Vista drivers without problem.

Computer vista of my son had the virus and tanked. Best Buy said computer necessary, new drive hard as former disc destroyed.  Then Best Buy said they needed vista install disk to the new disk. The single disc there is the original upgrade disk. • Can I install the upgrade to win 8 as a dual boot with Windows 7?

I bought and downloaded but not installed upgrading Windows 8 Pro, I'm currently under Win 7 64. The upgrade wizard Win gave the choice to install now, install by creating media or install at a later time from your desktop.  I chose the latter, and the Windows Installer shortcut is now on the desktop. I have learned since that a dual-boot Win 8 cannot happen if installed by Windows.

This upgrade version allows you to dual boot? (I have a few apps that apparently do not run in Win 8)

It can dualboot (as long as you create the DVD drive with the installation files. But to install the Windows 8 Pro upgrade, the score should have a previous version of qualification of Windows (XP, Vista or Windows 7). The version recommended if you want to dualboot is the full OEM version:

Buy a full version of Windows 8

If you want to build your own PC and install Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro or an additional operating system running in a virtual machine or a separate partition (including a Mac), you can buy Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro System Builder (OEM versions). If available in your country or region, Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro System Builder products can be purchased at participating stores, you will need to ask a the sales representative for more information. This version does not support the customer.

There is no full retail version of Windows 8. If you need a full version, you will need to purchase the Pro OEM Windows 8 of new eggs. To do this, install an own custom.

  • Installation upgrade to Win 7 Pro 64 Full

I have a PC (can call PC - 1) with Vista installed. I've upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and all sorts of problems.

I bought a copy of OEM Win 7 Pro 64 and install it on a new hard drive on this PC-1. He works very, very well. So far, I'm very happy.

The old hard drive on PC - 1 is out of the computer in a shelf with no use. He has my Windows 7 Pro upgrade in it.

I bought a brand new similar (PC-2) computer and a new hard disc, so now I have:

-PC-1 with a new drive hard and nine OEM win 7 64 bit install and works perfectly... and

-PC-2 with a new hard drive in which I tried to install my (legal) original of the upgrade to Win 7 Pro 64, but I didn't want to not install Vista first, because I'm having the same problems that I had in the first place, so I install as a full version. At the point where he asks me my product key that I copied from the sticker in the present case, he tells me is not a valid product key.

What should I do to use this copy of Windows 7 Pro in my new hard drive, but do not install Vista first?

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

You can not install the upgrades on a blank disc.
