Vista Windows Media Player Hotkey problem

Hello

I play online games often enough, but seem to continue to press the shortcut key to open wmp (although I don't know what it is, I'm pretty sure that there at least involved Esc button).  I read a ton of forums who say I can't uninstall this program, so that may have to wait, but is there a "sanctioned MS' way to disable the keyboard shortcut to make it disable wmp in general?  This should not at all anyway, as I am running a game on top, so why Vista still takes orders while the game is running in the foreground is beyond me.

Also, many for fun, wmp still ad media libraries on my local network even if I disabled it in the options.  Any thoughts outside myself using my firewall to drop these packets?

Hello Rick Meres,

Thank you for posting.  As that's not on the other Vista PC, I must say it seems to be associated with driver.  There are also a few keyboard shortcuts that get "through the subsystem" and still works (ALT + Enter and ALT + Tab for example).  You might want to try uninstalling the keyboard software (make sure you have the installation media before you try this) to see if this will solve the problem.  I say this because I have a G15 keyboard and it will by default add some features and commands that I don't want when I install the software.  Your keyboard software can also offer options to configure the software it also installs.

Please try this and let me know if it helps you. Zack

    Hello

    1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?
    2. the problem occurs on a particular file?
    3. What is the format of the file you want to play in Windows Media Player?

You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

    (a) the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

    (b) the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

Windows media player will play only the files and videos only if it supports this type of file.

  • Failed to start Windows Media Player - Version problem

    Hi all

When I try to start Windows Media Player, I get the following error:

the wmplayer.exe file has a version number of 12.0.7601.18526 where 12.0.7601.17514 was expected

I used WMP on this machine before with no problems, probably most recently about a month ago. I have automatic updates on so I don't know exactly when this problem started. I tried to uninstall/reinstall WMP, but this has not led to no success.

Here, any help would be great.

    Thank you

    Hi Chris

Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit OS using w Service Pack 1.  Error message for Windows Media Player: wmploc.dll a version number of 12.0.7601.18150 where 12.0.7601.17514 was expected.  The message you want to know also if I wanted to reinstall WMP.  Went to the MS site, but don't see a version of WMP to WN7.  WMP worked before without a problem.

    Hi John!

WMP is integrated in your version of Windows 7 and cannot- and disabled. Please try this: click the button start , click Control Panel, click programs and features, and then click turn on turn Windows features on or off. Search for multimedia features, click on the little + and uncheck WMP. Then restart and check WMP again. Restart, and then see if WMP now works fine.

    Hope that helps.

    See you soon

Thank you Julia for your answer.  I continued to search for a solution once I asked my question and found one that suggested the signing in as long as administrator and then by running the file system by typing 'sfc/scannow' scanner after invites it him.  It worked.

I appreciate your comments and will keep your suggestion in mind, in case this happens again.

  • Windows Media Player 12 problems add music

I have just upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Ultimate. I have all my music on a 1 TB Western Digital Carver Green, my Media Player. Now when I try to manage my media in Media Player, when I try to add files or anything, after I click on organize > libraries > music >, there is no response has no effect, no action. When I click on the video or something else, it allows me to peak records and all the rest that I need to do. But it doesn't add is not the media to the library. I don't know what to do I tried everything I can think of. I can go into the folders where my media is stored and click on a file and read it through media player in this way, but still no library to use... what to do, I do, it was a mistake to buy windows 7, so far I disappointed by this bean because all I have is not yet compatible with 7, and he has already planted 12 times in 1 week I got it for now, but the media play, what I'm doing, media player 12 is no good! 1

    Uninstall and reinstall WMP12.

    To uninstall,

Click Start > type appwiz.cpl > select or turn off Windows features turn on

"Multimedia functions" UNCHECK Windows Media Player.

Restart the computer. This uninstalls WMP12.

    After the reboot,.

Click Start > type appwiz.cpl > select features turn on or off Windows

"Multimedia functions" CONTROL Windows Media Player.

    Turn it back on.

    It would reinstall WMP12.

  • Windows Media Player, new problem with ardour.

Never had a problem before, but I tried to play a blu - ray disc and since that time... After inserting a blank cd 9, zooms to the player through my list saying that each song is 'complete', then finalized and ejects, without a song being engraved on my cd (I have tried six times or more). Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Thomas...

What is an audio disc you want to burn? Looks like he burn the link data file rather than audio files to... do not know if your 'white' discs will have been rendered unusable - it's a long time since I burned disks regularly and I had to scroll through my brain-cell to remind me of what was going on...

Open the tab list burn in wmp and do a right click on the little icon options burn (under clock) and 'audio drive '.

Backup not working in all of these songs/albums that appear also in personal playlists. Does not account for all of the media/music in Windows Media Player.
