Vista Windows Movie Maker gives message "doesn't fit" releasing on DVD.

Vista Windows Movie Maker gives an error "does not fit" when I try to publish my movie to a DVD (12 minutes too long). I removed half of the clips in the storyboard table and I still get the same error. The length of the film remains 02:42.

If your burner is compatible... a double layer 8.5 GB DVD blank may be worth a try.
(failure is a real possibility... make a video 02:42 is more than most systems)
can handle)

After the removal of the files in the storyboard table did you resave the project before embarking
DVD Maker?

The following older maybe offer some ideas on reducing the size of the project.

Movie Maker - how to divide a project complex smaller?
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/tutorials/MovieMaker/SplitComplexProject.htm

In many cases not most of the large case projects / complex problems.
Creation of several small projects and recording each in the. Film WMV
format in a folder on your hard disk may be the answer. Then you can import
the collection of. WMV to DVD Maker files and each clip becomes a scene
(Chapter) you have to have up to 18 scenes.

Good luck...

How to convert Windows Movie Maker files in a Mac compatible file?
Windows Movie Maker files are the format of Windows Movie Maker project. The files say things to Windows Movie Maker on your video editing project like video clips are used, which audio files you have imported, go to what transitions between clips, and whose effects are used. These files are essentially readable only in Windows Movie Maker and certainly doesn't work on a Mac. Two options to save a video file in Movie Maker are DV - AVI or WMV. To create a Mac compatible video file, open the file in Windows Movie Maker in Windows Movie Maker, save the movie to the highest quality WMV or preferably as a DV - AVI file format. Import the AVI or WMV file ended up in iMovie or another Mac video editing application.

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

You post to the XP forum, so this info is for XP.

The display resolution is reduced when we look at
the Timeline/Storyboard...this will not affect your
    completed project (especially noticeable seen)
full screen). If you view the item by selecting it in the

If your video file .wmv recorded are not resolution
you need... you may need to use a custom profile:

In Movie Maker... (assuming that your source files are high quality)
You can increase the resolution of your video by slideshow
using a custom profile when recording in .wmv movie format.

Personally, I find the following .wmv profile to be

Now for the creation of a DVD-video...

With the exception of the version of Windows Media Center

  • noise problem Windows movie maker 2.6 when recording in dv - avi format

I installed the filmmaker windows 2.6 on windows 7 Home premium. Everything works fine. When I try to record the final film in DV - AVI format, I get 5-7 seconds of noise very high height introduced where ever there is a change of clip. IE if I have 10 different clips in my film, I get this noise at 10 different locations in my last recorded movie. These are the places where begins a new clip. There is no such noise present when I play the project in movie maker is not present in the original source file (which is an avi file).

Interestingly, when I save the movie in any format as DV - AVI, (IE high video quality, local playback or any wmv file) there is no such noise introduced in the final movie. I used the same clips to make the final movie in windows xp using movie maker 2.1 and there was no question also in the recorded final DV - AVI movie.

So the problem seems to be only on movie maker 2.6 on windows 7, when recording in DV - AVI format (all other formats of work correctly). Clips of same worked well on movie maker 2.1 on windows XP, when recording in DV - AVI format.

I suspect that the video filters (in tools-> options) could be the reason. I checked and all active video filters are those in C/windows/SYSWOW64 directory, so there is no non-microsoft video filter.

Pls help as windows live movie maker (installed on windows 7) all blocks left and right and is basically useless because it can't record any movie to the end. Director of Windows 2.1 was the best choice, but it cannot be installed on windows 7. I can download the video to show what kind of flicker noise is there at the beginning of each clip. It is a volume high, shrill noise as if two things are rubbing against each other.

  • Windows Movie Maker - Audio only, which plays in the exported project

    Hello.

I did a project in windows movie maker with video and audio files. Project perfect cheek (the two audio/video playback) in windows movie maker when I am in the phase "creation/editing. When I export it and save the project as a. MP4 or. WMV file and try to play in Windows Media Player, Quicktime or VLC, as the audio of my theatre project. There is no video. However, when I play the other. MP4 files or. WMV files via these media players, they play very well. So I think that the problem is with the export of the Movie Maker project. Also, thinking that I have perhaps incompatible video files to Windows Movie Maker, I tried just using Jpeg files with audio to create a slide show, thinking that it would work with standard Habitat. Yet once, however, that the audio is played with a project containing pictures (no video). Any ideas?

Audio was working fine, just no photos or video showing once the project has been saved as a movie. So, I tried your solution of creating a short slide show with photos only and no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled movie maker and still no luck. Downloaded the pack codek for windows 7 and still no luck.

So, I decided to download the Vista windows movie maker for my OS to windows 7 and everything works like a charm. Don't know how or why, but the version of Vista is flawless on my windows 7.

Thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate the help.
