I installed Vista Service Pack 2 today. After the installation of the windows sidebar has stopped working. For example the actions of Gadget, Gadget of the currency, in fact all of the gadgets that require a live stream display the message "Service unavailable". Some gadgets loading is no longer at the side bar, double click on, for example Weatherbug & multimeter (D).  I tried a system restore, but the problem remains, so I did an extra restore to indeed to reinstall Vista Service Pack. I also reset the router and Modem

I tried to remove the gadgets from the sidebar and load it again but the problem still remains.  So I decided to download gadgets again on the Microsoft site but when I click on the link in the window "Get more Gadgets online" link does not work. This problem is only since installing Vista Service Pack 2 any what help you can give me to eliminate these problems would be most appreciated

    Tony,
Have you checked your firewall to see if the file sidebar.exe is allowed?  When you have downloaded the update it probably resets the security settings for this program if your firewall blocks most likely it.  First try.

Have you double checked the control panel for the side bar to ensure that it was activated?  Again, the setting could have been modified by the service pack.
Try this, it includes a section "fix it for me":

  • Windows Sidebar problems

My Windows Sidebar works, but none of the installed gadgets will be. I tried to restart my laptop but it does nothing to change the final outcome. I also have the latest version of Java (I thought that this could be the problem). I followed some of the suggestions of others and all seems to be well positioned. Suggestions as to how I might be able to solve this problem?

  • Windows Sidebar problem

    Hello

hope someone can help with this.  I am running windows Vista Home Premium Edition SP2 and finally had time to fixation of a shift in my wired network connection (which was caused by the sidebar). In the end, I discovered its virtually impossible to uninstall, so downloaded an official fix to avoid that it launch and for security against the dubious gadgets.

Result, I thought that during the restart, sidebar did not open, but now whenever I log in, although the Sidebar won't load, I get this message even with no way to turn it off (except by clicking ok every time) "Windows Sidebar is managed by your system administrator".  Anyone have any idea how to prevent this message from appearing every time that I connect?

Tried different things, like trying to delete the files, but they are protected as my own admin account is clearly not "admin system" means the message.

I am pleased that the Sidebar displays, even though she still seems to slow down my connection network (so why I wanted to install or remove it in the first place), but if I could only keep this message to every newspaper, I live with the slow connection and be a happy man!

Tried NB restore before I downloaded the fix, but restriction "system administrator" has not disappeared.

Windows sidebar calendar problem, sees nothing except chassis. How can I solve?

    Hello SEEN H K,

    1. this work was very well at any time before your computer?

I suggest that you try the methods below to resolve this issue:

    Method 1:

Open a windows Explorer window and then paste the following text in the address bar:

    %LocalAppData%\microsoft\Windows sidebar

This will open the Sidebar gadgets folder, where you should see a file named Settings.ini.

If this is due to recent changes to the computer, I suggest that you do a system restore on your computer.

    a. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.

    b. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    d. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    e. click Finish.

  • Windows Vista Business Sidebar Feed titles does not

The vista sidebar titles flow has stopped loading because I've upgraded to Vista SP2 and or tried to install KB955706 compared with sql server 2005 express edition sp3.  I got an error as follows:

"Line 286 - error: document must have top level element XML."

He then asked if I want to debug the Web page.  I clicked Yes and then received the following:

    "Microsoft Visual Studio Debugger.

"An exception occurred: process ends (exception address is 00413E6C).

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling windows sidebar, deactivation and reactivation of the titles of the flow, but it still doesn't load.  So, I assumed that it may have to do with the sql server 2005 update (KB955706) which would not be updated.

Could someone provide some ideas to get the flow of titles to load?

I should also go on the forum which deals with the installation of sql server 2005 to get help to install KB955706 update.

Thank you in advance for your help!

PS This is my first time on any forum of Microsoft, so I hope I'm in the right.  Forgive me if I'm not.

Since you do not actually installed the SQL update, it seems that the problem was caused by the upgrade to SP2. Microsoft support (until 8/30) offers FREE support for Vista SP2 issues:https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?prid=13014&gprid=582034&st=1&wfxredirect=1&sd=gn.  I advised that take advantage of the offer while there always and get help from experts on SP2.

I hope this helps (and they can help you I am confdent that they can).
