Hi all

I am trying to import a virtual machine created on the esxi 5.0 server by converting to the OVF format and it redeploy to the server ESXi4.0, but without success in the process.

the h/w version of the virtual machine on the esxi 5.0 is 7 and the configuration of the host computer is the same for the server esxi 4.0 and 5.0.

Here is the error observed: -.

the OVF package is valid but consider the following warnings.

So I don't know if that has anything to do with him or not.

    Any ideas?

  • ESXi 5.5 license error

    Hello

I am trying to add a Standard 6 of vSphere license to an ESXi host 5.5 using vCenter 5.5. The environment is the following:

    vCenter Server 5.5 Standard license

    1 host stand-alone ESXi 5.5

VPP L3 VMware VMware vSphere 6 with the standard of operations management

I'm sure that our supplier mentioned as a vSphere license 6 can be used on a host ESXi 5.5 but I get the following error when trying to add it to vCenter:

    lic_error.jpg

Can you get it someone please let me know if I can really add a vSphere license 6 to 5.5 ESXi host?

    Elodie

I'm sure that our supplier mentioned as a vSphere license 6 can be used on a host ESXi 5.5...

I'm not aware of such an option. To assign a license to vCenter Server or host, you must have the appropriate license key / version. What you need to do is to downgrade the license in your portal MyVMware.

  • ESXi v5.0 - off error space with more than 40 GB of space will inform

I'm currently under ESXi 5.0 installation in a RAID5 configuration with 146GBx3 (Total: 268,50 GB)

I added 2 virtual machines running thick

VM Machine 1 - HD1 thin provision (size 200 GB provided)

VM Machine 2 - HD1 thin provision (size 33,91 GB configured)

VM Machine 2 - HD2 thin provision (13566 configured GB size)

I left then a VM Machine 3 previous ESXi v5.0 to the ESXi v5.0 by using "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client v5.0.1 Build-875114" (thin provision) that everything went well and worked very well for several weeks.

But this morning I come and see all the VMS arrested due to no space left so I checked the Vsphere Client, & it said I had 268,50 GB / 40 GB free in 'Summary' - 'Storage' and also in 'Configuration' - 'Storage' section.

No idea why this happened and how to minimize what is happening again?

(I'm still testing it, but I think that the cause was that ESXi free space was not changed after the use of VMware vCenter Converter to add VM Machine 3)

    Thank you

I never have any "Rescan" is not an automatic thing that must take place at least once a week or something?

They update periodically, but can sometimes become 'sticky' and not up to date. The new manual scan (or two or three) are often refreshed - I was just curious to know if you're really out of space to have 40 GB free. You can also use the Shell of ESXi to investigate.

  • Export of Esxi to workstation 6.0.4

    Welcome to the community,

This probably occurs because the version of the OVF used in both products, i.e. ESXi being more recent than the version of the Workstation version. What you can do is to use the OVFtool to create a computer virtual from the FVO and then make a few minor changes (for example, by changing the virtual hardware version) to make it work in WS 6...

  • End end NIC Teaming on ESXi with redhat linux guest operating system

I'm running into a situation of lack of bandwidth for my backup server running inside the virtual machine environment. To increase bandwidth coming from a number of backup clients on my backup inside ESXi 5 server. I would like to collage x NIC 2 inside my redhat Server installation and train the grouping of NETWORK cards using Hash my ESXi host IP.

What is the feasible way to provide a 2G from end to end connection to the outside world for my redhat backup media server? or there is an inverse?

I don't think you need to add a second NETWORK card to the Redhat VM, which acts as a backup server as a single for the virtual computer NETWORK adapter can accommodate more load than 1 G.

I have a couple of Redhat with a single NIC servers. VMXNET the following example shows this ethtool sees for the NETWORK adapter on one of these Redhat servers.

    [sfuller@rhel7 ~] $ sudo ethtool eth0
    Settings for eth0:
    Supported ports: [TP]
    Supported link modes: 1000baseT/Full
    Supports auto-negotiation: no
    Advertised link modes: unreleased
    Announced the autonegotiation: No.
    Speed: 1000 Mb/s
    Duplex: full
    Port: Twisted pair
    PHYAD: 0
    Transceiver: internal
    Auto-negotiation: off
    Link detected: Yes

When I run a transfer TCP (using thrulay) from one server to another, you can see that it is 2.6Gbps average on the transfer of 10 seconds.

So this shows that we can get more than the throughput of 1 Gbps on a single "GE NIC" on a Redhat VM.

You will need to do is, as you mentioned, change load balancing on the host than the Redhat VM ESX runs using the road based on the hash of the IP. This will allow the Redhat VM to use more than a single teddy bear on the ESX host. You also need to several customers, including LSB of their XOR IP addresses differently, but you said you have several clients and so unless you're really unlucky with the IP addresses to clients have you should be good there.

I hope this helps and good luck.

I exported the virtual machine selected by the engine off the power of the virtual machine > file > export > export the OVF template.
I then imported in box 2 by file > model to deploy OVF.
Once the import is complete I get "error loading operating system"

  • CMD. EXE: IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE TWO COMMANDS INSIDE OF THE COMMAND CMD 'FOR '?

    HAY EVERYONE.
I WROTE A PROGRAM TO CMD. EXE.
AND I WANT TO SET A VARIABLE TO THE NUMBER OF FILES PRESENT IN A DIRECTORY.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THE TWO COMMANDS INSIDE OF THE COMMAND.
HERE IS THE EXAMPLE OF MY PROBLEM INSIDE THE BAT FILE:

    OFF @ECHO
    FOR /F %%D IN (' DIR/W/D / N / L ' "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\*." ") DLL | TROUVER/C/I/N 'B' ') SET FILES_NUMBER = % Y
    ECHO: % FILES_NUMBER %
    BREAK
    OUTPUT

I EXPECT THAT THIS PROGRAM WAS TELLING ME HOW MANY DLL FILES THAT BEGIN WITH THE LETTER B, I HAVE IN MY SYSTEM32 DIRECTORY.
HOWEVER, THIS PROGRAM HAVE A MISTAKE DURING ORDERING.

    | WAS NOT PLANNED AT THIS TIME.

"WHEN I USE IT JUST COMMAND DIR/W/D O:N: C ' C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\*. "DLL" | " FIND/C/I/N "B" WITHOUT THE FOR ORDER THIS ORDER WRITE A NUMBER ON THE SCREEN. THE NUMBER OF DLL FILES THAT BEGIN WITH THE LETTER B IN MY SYSTEM32 DIRECTORY.
IF THESE TWO COMMANDS (DIR AND FIND) COMBINED ALL WORK OK.

BUT I WANT TO REDIRECT THE OUTPUT OF THESE COMMANDS IN A VARIABLE. FOR THIS I USE THE COMMAND FOR.

WHEN I USE JUST A COMMAND INSIDE THE ORDER, HE DIDN'T THERE WAS NO ERROR.
BUT WHEN I USE PIPES, A MISTAKE SE PRODUCT.

SO, MY QUESTION IS: HOW TO USE TWO COMMANDS INSIDE OF COMMAND? OR HOW TO USE A PIPE TO COMMAND INSIDE.

    YBY

A slightly different method, but will set the Files_Number variable to what you want:

    Off @Echo
    C:
    cd\Windows\System32
    Dir B *. DLL | FindStr.Exe 'File (s)' > Temp.Txt
    FOR /F "Tokens = 1-4" %% IN (Temp.Txt) Set Files_Number = %% a
Echo number of records Files_Number is %

Note: You can add a Temp.Txt DEL if you want, but it is not necessary because the > causes the replaced every time that you run this. (If we had used > as our redirector, it adds to the Temp.Txt file, which we don't want.)

In addition, when you use the / w with the DIR command that calls the large format so you get 1 account per line regardless of the number of files has the letter B in them. Also, your search for the letter B in each line through FIND counted the Bs if they're the first letter.

My method deliberately DIRs for only these DLLs that begins with the letter B. FindStr allows us to give us only the row that contains the number of files. In the FOR-IN-DO we know that this line will have four elements of the text, so we settled our chips to 1-4. They will be placed in temporary variables a, b, c & d.

Given that the actual number of files, that's what we want, we have Files_Number = %% a.  Had we wanted to know the total number of bytes of the file, WE Set Total_Bytes = % c.

You can do both if you want to do like this:

    Off @Echo
    C:
    cd\Windows\System32
    Dir B *. DLL | FindStr.Exe 'File (s)' > Temp.Txt
    FOR /F "Tokens = 1-4" %% IN (Temp.Txt) Set Files_Number = %% a
    FOR /F "Tokens = 1-4" %% IN (Temp.Txt) define Total_Bytes = %% c
Echo number of records Files_Number is %
Echo Total number of bytes is Total_Bytes % %
