VM Console goes black after installing NVIDIA drivers
Hello
I have the NVIDIA K2 maps in vSphere 6. Once I installed the NVIDIA drivers on the virtual machine to Windows 7, I can no longer connect using the VM console in vSphere. RDP is the workaround. The NVIDIA Deployment Guide says that I have to change the settings and increase the memory in the virtual video card. I tried 9 MB, 32 MB, and 128 MB. None of them worked. Any ideas what I can try next? Thanks in advance.
Yes, as stated, this behavior is expected. My experience has been to install the following in order:
Install the following in the order by using the console to generate gold VM
(1) base OS
2) VMware Tools, reboot
(3) configure the network domain and other options according to your needs.
3) VMware Agent, reboot
(4) direct connection plugin VMware. Shutdown VM
(5) add a vGPU device, power on VM
VC will display the IP address of the virtual machine, use View Client to connect directly to the IP address of the VM.
(6) Windows meet the new device and prompt to reboot. Given that the driver gets installed next step, click on no.
(7) download and install the NVidia driver. You can get disconnected, reconnect to the session. Reset during the installation of the drivers NVidia shows
8) reconnect via a direct connection, right click on the desktop and bring up the NVidia Control Panel. Enter license needed (M60 only) information.
(9) in NVidia Control Panel click on the adjustment of the Image settings with preview. You should see a rotating logo of NVidia.
(10) at this point, vGPU is configured and ready to install additional software and generate your snapshot for creating pools.

Hello
First of all, you should visit this Australian page from Toshiba:
http://www.ISD.Toshiba.com.au
You will find all the drivers for this model of laptop.I checked and found that there is a BIOS v2.5.
Check if the BIOS needs to be updated (if the older BIOS is installed)In addition, there is a display driver v14.29.1.4833 and chipset driver v8.2.0.1012
Install it!Last but not least the Win XP should be updated to the latest state!

Portege R100: The screen goes black after installing SP2
Hello
Currently, I tried to install SP2 for my laptop (Windows XP pro) R100. The end of the installation procedure I restarted the system, as requested. The windows logo appeared, then the screen went black and the only thing I could see was the mouse cursor. After several reboots, the situation did not do better. I tried to go on safe mode, but I had the same (only this time the black backround was typical registration of safe mode on the sides). I will perform a system restore without having to install SP2, but the fact that I am on a DSL connection most of the time very important SP2 installation.
I would appreciate any solution to this problem.
Thanks for your time.Hello
As far as I know sometimes a few utilities and drivers must be updated after installation of the service pack 2 Microsoft.
On the Toshiba driver page I found a backgrounder update of Microsoft Windows XP SP2 that contains a few s information about the utilities that must be updated. However, additional I found a lot of new drivers for R100.
I think you should also try to update the old drivers as driver utility and the graphics card chipset.
Eventually, it helps. -
Why my monitor goes black after a minute?
I have my standby power setting to turn off the monitor after 15 minutes when it is plugged. But if I don't move the mouse or press a key for a minute, the screen goes black. It's very embarrassing, especially if I watch a video.
Is there another setting somewhere that says monitor going black after a minute of no activity?
Thank you
PAM
Hi Pam,.
Here's another setting worth it.
Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select Personalize. Click the link to screensaver at the bottom right. In the next window, adjust the time before the screensaver kicks in the drop "Wait" to a more acceptable value. Click on apply, then Ok to save the change of the parameter.

I continue to work through issues with my HP Probook 4520 that is now almost 4 years with the same problem of a frozen screen.
Today, I decided to work in seeing if there was new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 available display drivers.
I have the version of 15/03/2011 of the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. With that came the AMD Catalyst install Manager Version 3.00.0868
.
During his visit the HP site I saw that they had a newer version available on the graphics card available with the date of April 30, 2011 and the download file has been identified as sp52818.exe for the Version of the graphics driver to download 8.743.2-- 110315 5A - 115833C.
In light of the penalty, that I got with my graphic display driver 15/03/2011, I decided to uninstall the drivers of my 15/03/2011 and download the drivers of 30/05/2011.
Doing this has my computer I notified that I already have the sp52818.exe file and so I was a little confused, but I allowed him to install over my existing file.
To install the file sp52818.exe successfully, I went to work. Then after some time (within an hour), I got a message generated by computer at the bottom right of my screen saying a newer version of my graphics card was available at www.amd.com .
(first thought was - why HP had it?)
In any case... I decided to click on the suggestion box, visit www.amd.com and see what they had. I was directed to install a driver to automatically detect the utility, and during the installation, the utility's suggestion came back that my computer can access a new graphic display driver. I thought it was nice and so I then proceeded to of course download the .exe file for my HP probook 4520 s. The proposed file was qualified: 13-12_mobility_win7_win8_64_dcl_ccc_whql_exe (graphic display for the ATI Radeon HD 5470 by suggestion of AMD driver.)
Everything goes well. It starts to download the Catalyst install Manager Version 08.00.0915, then the ATI display drivers with > .NET Framework 4.5 (I'm just observing things that are facts). Several times the black screen comes on, but that is to be expected. I wait patiently, and finally I see the green bar of progress. Just as the green bars come in the end, the screen goes black again for about 1 to 2 minutes. Then suddenly the dreaded BSOD Blue Screen of Death comes with an error message saying that something has gone wrong and closing of windows, and he mentions something about Windows display drivers. I'm not panicking yet, but is offered the possibility of recovering and I let the computer pick up normally, and I return to the screen of welcome with happiness and connect to.
From the entrance, the first thing I see is a Windows Error Message, I opened and saved and here provide for our education and research.

I'm not able to open the .dmp file to display as the file associations cannot establish a connection, and I am unable to find the AppData file under users. Windows 7, it is extremely difficult find the files suggested by error messages.
I would like to know why the BSOD appeared, then please explain the error message that came as I was trying to install a driver recommended for my computer using download driver acceptable practices, causing me concern and frustration, as well as the 4 years of intermittent to faithfully display failure. I'm not sending the machine backwards. There must be a solution.

You are right that the accident may have been caused by the newly installed ATI driver. I checked on the HP Site and there is a version of the same display offered with the same output driver date on the ATI site, so the difference may be that the version of HP's specific system, while the ATI Version is just generic, so my suggestion would be to uninstall the ATI Version and replace it with the HP driver.

IdeaPad S500 Touch - screen goes black after driver update
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S500 Touch. It is running the latest update of Windows 8.1. He proposed an update of the video driver from Lenovo. After downloading and installing the update, the screen went black. When the computer reboots, the Lenovo logo appears on the screen, and it goes black again. No matter what I try, that's all.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thank you
