VM Player 5 will not open session VM Workstation 10

I created a virtual machine using Workstation 10 and copied to the session of the computer to another virtual computer - running a Player 5. When I try to login to virtual machine, I get an error message:

The configuration file 'C:\WinXP Pro SP3 VM\WinXP Pro SP3 VM.vmx' was created with a product from VMware that is not compatible with this version of VMware Player and can not be used.

Cannot open configuration file C:\WinXP Pro SP3 VM\WinXP Pro SP3 VM.vmx.

Both PC used to create the VM session and try to start it, are company Win7-64. I enclose a copy of the error message.

I have encountered this problem before - so I do not know how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - Ian

Excuse me, I know that I posted earlier but I accidentally hit the wrong button and it says has answered my question and it was not. I had a virus on my computer and it was cleaned professionally. Now my windows media player will not open. He also will not play a cd/dvd or existing music files on my computer. The icon appears on the screen, but nothing happens when I try to open it. I can't do a system restore because there is nothing to restore, my computer was completely wiped out. Someone suggested this below "Disable media features" reboot and then turn on again. I tried already with no luck. I'm also totally updated everything I could find to put on my computer up-to-date.

On google, there are a few reports of this error message and I couldn't find any that it is resolved. I hope that someone else will be "the chip" with a solution. I'm sorry.

There are some media player FixIt who might want to try (I have not had your specific problem and Ive not run the FixIt so can't say for sure).

You can try things like a SFC/scannow , that can help, but I doubt it. I guess it depends on what the virus.

You could check that the virus is actually went in downloading, installing, free update (update in the Admin) and running a scan with Malwarebytes , but if it was 'cleaned professionally"should be deleted. But unfortunately things that his attack can still be altered.

You could try a test, to create a new user account 'test' and the connection through that to see if WMP works from this account. for example, it can be your user profile that has been damaged. If this account works WMP then migrate your data everywhere...

If all goes well, a WMP expert will come to the rescue.

  • Vista media player 11 will not open

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2.   Whenever I try to start Windows Media Player 11, it does not open.  I tried the link and the actual file (IE: root/program files/windows media player/wmplayer.exe) and both do the same thing if I look at the Task Manager.  The program appears for a few seconds and quits immediately.  Never no windows don't open.

I tried the setup_wm.exe file and it gives me the error: "there is a newer version of the player (11.0.6002.18311) already installed on your computer.  It is not possible to use an older (11.0.6002.18111) installation package to install files or repair your current version. »

So that others that a relocation complete, what can I do?

    Hello

Do you have an error message when you open Windows Media Player?

You have made any changes to your computer recently?

I suggest you follow the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Verify the file system (CFS) Run analyses and checks to see if it helps.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Note: System File Checker gives an administrator the ability to scan the files all protected to check their versions. If the System File Checker detects that a protected file has been replaced, it retrieves the correct version of the file in the folder cache (% Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache) or the Windows installation source files and then replaces the incorrect file. System File Checker verifies and repopulates the cache folder also. You must be logged in as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to run the System File Checker. If the cache folder is damaged or unusable, you can use the sfc/scannow, sfc /scanonceor sfc /scanboot orders to repair its contents.

Method 2: Re-register wmp.dll file and check if it helps.

    (a) click Start.

    (b) type CMD.exe and right-click on it and select run as administrator.

    (c) Type Regsvr32 wmp.dll, and press to enter.

  • Media Player 12 will not open

Media Player isn't open, just get a flash screen which I can't see any word on or errors. Don't remember what who or where I was at in w7 but he says the WMP file was corrupt. Brings me a week when the boot manager was damaged and had to fix it from the disc. So, how can I fix the WMP12 because there is no download for it yet. I really want to play on a reload of the system. Going back would present a problem I had to reload the antivirus program, because it did not work well. Yes before ask you, I scanned the system in safe mode normal mode and from a command line, no problems found. There also seems to be a problem with winupdate as I had to run several times to get updates and there are only 9. Other then these w7 problem load with problem in vista64 at w7ul x 64 upgrade.

OK, I think that I fixed it, or there's a new player on some of the virus programs detects it as potentually undesirables and eliminate something in it. I restored my system back 5 days and mediaplayer work but mcafee total protection had a problem. I uninstalled mcafee and installed the new copy, mediaplayer now has not worked again. catch 22. So I restored back further to find a place they both worked, no. I downloaded a mcafee utility to uninstall mcafee, as the regular method did not work for this restore point. Running and rebooted, mcafee has disappeared and worked mediaplayer. OK, after the call to mcafee, that they said as a temporary solution to create a mcafee policy on watching everything that had to do with media player. Fact and install a new copy of the use of mcafee that add the policy on. Now, I have both working, I then went and created a restore point for after installation. I'll pass on anything said mcafee on a permanent solution. Now off the coast, for other issues addressed in the center of the action.

  • 1: 0x80042318__2 system restore error: Windows Media Player 11 will not work open__3: Internet Explorer 8 crashes when opening.

I have these three questions of program after reinstallation of Windows Vista and tried (mostly unsuccessful) using Windows Easy Transfer to move and reinstall my programs and files. My computer had some problems before start, (it would be almost always gives me the blue screen at startup and go into Startup Repair). The Startup Repair wouldn't fix anything and just lose about 20 minutes of my time. Finally, he wouldn't even load at all and the Startup Repair did not help so I decided to reinstall Windows Vista. It worked perfectly until what stupidly, I decided to try and use Windows easy transfer if everything goes well "to" my programs this new copy of Windows Vista.

So now my questions are: Windows Media Player 11 does not open. I don't see a thumbnails of videos that would open with Windows Vista either. Oddly, although I can use Windows Media Center very well. I also installed Quicktime player and it seems to work perfectly.
It was not catastrophic but especially a gene. I use VLC player to manage most of my videos very well, but love using WMP before.

Second: I can't create restore points at all. Once I try, I get this error message:
"The restore point could not be created for the following reason:
An error was detected in the copy Service VSS (Volume Shadow). The problem occurred while trying to connect with the VSS writers. Please check the event system service and the VSS service are running and look for errors related to event logs. (Ox80042318) Please try again. »

Finally, for some reason any after the transfer, eventually after Internet Explorer automatically updated it will completely freeze when I open it. This is for me the prompt to open the session previously was crushed, and if I try that or close the dialog to open just the home page, it will freeze completely, even the blue circle next to the name of the tab to load.
Fortunately, I have Firefox and Google Chrome installed, both work very well.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not entirely fretting on IE8 and WMP 11 but I feel really that less stressed if I know that I have a System Restore Point in case my previous numbers start to happen again.

As you have just reinstalled Vista, where were your old programs and files (on which machine) when you used Windows Easy Transfer, you still have access to them?

You have to maybe do the reinstall once more but forget your settings and just manually copy all of your data?  This way you will give you restart with no old parameters of any other machine?

  • El capitan will not open - full boot disk

    Hello

My Macbook Pro 2015 will not open. I have El Capitan on it.

The last time it was open, I was copying large files on it. Did not notice that the free space was not so. Thus, change some time to copy files, the screen freezes and I had to stop it by pressing the button of closing for a period of time.

Now it wonder pass and then takes over to 100% and stay like that. I keep it like that for 1 and a half hour and still the same.

    I have fact/cheque:

1 safe mode - does not work. I don't know why, and I'm wright.

2 disk utility (cmd + R) - say that the mac player seems to be ok (first aid) and shows me zero free Ko. Think that's the reason why it does not start.

3 terminal. Find my user >. Trash and delete the content thereof (rm - rf ~ /.) Trashes) and checked it was empty after. After restarting the same.

4 El Capitan of loading of the external drive. Can't see hidden files (.) (Trash) even when I put the command in the terminal. I was able to remove the other files with this, which appeared on the external drive of the El capitan Trash and delete them from there to check the mac, 100 GB of free drive. Reboot and always the same time. Open Cmd + R-> disk utility again: zero free Ko. Why?

Like most computers Mac needs space to run in, so boot from an external drive and delete (or move) at least 15 GB of your Mac. This should be enough to start, do not fill it up again

  • Windows Media Player 11 will not play video

Windows Media Player 11 will not play DVD-video or video files from a SD card.  I tried several update codec options, but none were successful, including the option offered by Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx?displang=en).  Windows tells me that a more recent update has been installed and refuses to go forward.

    Hi RonMcCulloch,

    ·         You receive an error message or error code?

    ·         What is the type of file you are trying to play?

    ·         The DVD I get recognized by the computer?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

In the meantime, you can try to reduce hardware acceleration, and see if it resolves the problem. (Only if your video card supports hardware acceleration)

    a. open the screen resolution by clicking on the Start button, click Control Panel, and then under appearance and personalization, click adjust screen resolution.

    b. click on settings Advanced , the Troubleshooting tab and then click change settings.

    c. move the hardware acceleration slider toward none to reduce or turn off video hardware acceleration.

    d. click OKand then click restart now.

Let us know if it helps.

I solved the problem, I tried to open files in the Qcad application by clicking on the list of recently used files. It will not work in a new session.
    The correct procedure is:-
Open click, Qcad - click file - open (this opens the index page of Qcad from the saved files) - click the required file - click Open.
There is no problem, with the exception of this incompetence of users.

  • Media Player 12 will not remain full screen for more than 5 min.

Upgrade Vista Ultimate to 7 Ultimate. Media Player now will not stay full screen for more than 5 minutes during movie playback. How can I fix this please?

When presentation settings are turned on, your mobile PC stays awake and system notifications are turned off. I would not advice you constantly running in presentation mode because it does not allow your computer becomes idle (and display the screen saver) even when you do not do anything. He probably solved your problem because one of your application does not perform certain actions as before, because it's always 'think' that your computer is not idle.

You should do something like this: check the settings for these two applications: Vaio update and Trend Micro (probably you can get there after right-clicking on the icon in the notification area and choose the appropriate context menu position). There should be some options when these applications are performing the update process. No doubt, one of them made when the computer becomes inactive if it may affect the mode full-screen. I guess that might be Vaio update, because I read that since version 2010, Trend Micro has been improved and should not cause this problem, but you should check the two of them. You should change the appropriate settings, so it will play the update process in another moment.

There is also something else you can try. You can read this article: How to prevent the flight home in Windows programs . You can find how to prevent theft of focus programs, then perhaps it can also solve your problem. Maybe after the upgrade to Vista, specific registry key does not contain the appropriate value, and you must follow these steps to fix that:

    1. Click Start and then click run (or you can press Windows key + R )

    2. In the text box on the run window, type regedit and click OK. This will open the registry editor program.

    3. Find the folder HKEY_CURRENT_USER under my computer and click the plus sign (+) after the folder name to expand the folder.

    4. Continue to expand the folders until you reach the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel registry key.

    5. Select the key of Office under Control Panel .

    6. On the right side of the screen, locate and double-click ForegroundLockTimeout DWORD.

    7. In the Edit DWORD value window that appears, set them value data: field to 30 d 40 .

Note: Make sure that the Basic option has the hexadecimal value, when you enter the DWORD value.

    8. Click OK , and then close the registry editor .

    9. Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

    10. From this moment on, programs should no longer steal focus from the window you are currently working.
