VMs restore after reinstall ESXi 3.5

I have been very successful to install and work with the free ESXi.  Recently, I had a hard drive crash and had to reinstall the ESXi infrastructure software.  My virtual machines were thankfully on a NFS drive on my Windows Server. I am confused about the extraction of the aloing of virtual machines with their shots.  I was able to create a new virtual machine, and then point to one of the virtual machines, which worked, but did not ensure that the snapshot tree.  Any suggestions?  Wouldn't be nice if once I reassembled the NFS disk everything (all virtual machines) is back!

If your VM (s) was stored on the NFS datastore, you simply go and re - register each of the VM (s). This can be done easily through the VI Client by double-clicking in your browser data store, once you set up your NFS datastore. You should there I hope to find all your VM (s) intact and you will need to go to each VM folder and right-click on the .vmx file and click on 'Add to inventory', this will save your VM (s).

  • How to clean the files of time machine restore after reinstall

Just did a wipe and reinstall on an iMac 2011 (10.8.5) mountain running Lion.

I don't want to do a full restore from Time Machine; I just want to take a few important files (cache profiles, e-mail, etc.). [Did the reinstall because my system was flawed and nothing else I did fix it.] [The story is here:beachball recurring in all applications in Lion, finally freezes iMac]

When I open Time Machine on my 'new' machine and turn it on, he says he has no previous backups, but begins to make its first backup in 120 seconds. There is no option to "enter" Time Machine and recover individual files.

I then turn off Time Machine because I'm afraid that it will make a new backup and erase / unrecoverable my previous backups.

The drive Time Machine target exists in disk utility. A 600 + files (backups, no doubt!) and verified without errors.

Before the clean and reinstall Time Machine worked perfectly. I have test-recovered some files and everything was good.

How do I introduce my iMac 'new' to my old backups Time Machine?

    Thank you

Use tmutil inheritbackup such as described by the end Pondini in his FAQ, here: http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html. Follow the instructions in the blue box, entitled "inherit a backup. The is short and simple but please follow carefully.

I believe that you won't always be able to restore individual files until that Time Machine backs up new, then let him. Once this is done, you will have access to your old backups.

Alternate procedure: since you can not keep this old backup after the restoration of the individual in any case files, you can hold a key option key while clicking the Time Machine in your Mac's menu bar. A option «Browse other backup disks...» ' will be displayed. What to choose.

  • Firefox is not reading my profile restored after reinstalling Windows

I had to reinstall Windows (again!). Before that, I saved my profile on an external drive.

I followed the instructions to restore (created a new profile and copy/paste the files saved in the new profile folder) and can see all the recorded files now reside in the new profile folder, but when I run Firefox it doesn't seem to be reading them at all. None of my favorites are available at all. It still looks like a new installation.

I must have made a mistake somewhere but I can't work out what.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How did you create the new profile folder: have you used the Firefox profile manager?

    If Yes:

Try to start using the new profile manager and test other profiles where it is currently set by default to that bad.

    If not:

Firefox can not see this folder because of its semi-aleatoric name. If you navigate to go up a level in the profiles folder in the folder of Firefox, you should find a file called profiles.ini. If you open this file in a text editor, it is likely doesn't have the path to your migrated file. You can change the corresponding path and then restart Firefox to see if Firefox connects with the migrated file.

  • Restore access to My Documents after reinstalling XP, I get the message: 'access denied '.

Original title: restore access to My Documents after reinstalling XP

Recently, I acquired a virus with which Microsoft Security Essentials could not cope.  Then one day the computer refused to start.  I wrongly assumed that my hard drive was dead, so I installed a new HD and reinstalled Windows XP.  [Actually, I first tried the upgrade to Windows 7, because program upgrade windows 7 Microsoft has already said that my computer was compatible... but Windows 7 disk says otherwise!]  Then I tried to install the HD original in an another drive Bay and discovered it still worked, but I could not boot from it.  Apparently, the virus has killed the OS (Windows XP) but my files, programs and documents are still there.  The problem is that when I try to access my old "My Documents" folder, I get the message: 'access denied '.  I believe that this is because the files are stored in a password protected user account.  I know the password, but I do not know how to access the files.

I tried to create a user account on my new HD (with the operating system Windows XP reinstalled) with the same name and the password that I used on my original (with the Windows operating system XP corrupted) HD to create all the document files.  However, opening a session with this account name and password did NOT restore my access to the My Documents folder on my original hard drive.

I'm out of ideas.  Help, please!

  • Reinstall ESXi 5 after updates

We are in the process of migrating physical machines to VMware. I just installed two new servers and they were not Hyperthreaded, so I do not get the number of virtual processors, I need for my environment. ESXi will recognize the new processors and vCPU County if I upgrade the processors on the machines (wholesale I'll stay with the same family of Intel product and architecture) or I need to reinstall ESXi 5.0, once the new processors are in the system?

I know I could vMotion my guests on another machine, but this is part of the problem. I don't have enough CPU on another machine to support additional guests until I do this upgrade.

    Thanks for your comments.

You should be able to upgrade processors without problem-

  • Cannot use my old firefox sync account after reinstalling

After reinstalling firefox I can't use my old Firefox Sync account. I am told that there is no such account here https://accounts.firefox.com and I created a new account with the same email as my old account.

After some research, I found this https://account.services.mozilla.com/ which I can connect with my old account.

Now, my problem is that I want to retrieve the information I had in my old sync and I can't find a way to do it.

In addition, because I lived the problems of severe performance using firefox, I deleted some files in my machine with Firefox (after uninstalling) including what appeared to be the location of the profile for firefox.

What is really important to me is: how to recover my old Firefox Sync account data or synchronize it with the new Mozilla account?

    Thank you
    V

Hello, firefox 29 and up is using a different synchronization system which is not compatible with the establishment of accounts in the old versions.

in this case, you'd probably have to use a workaround and download the version of firefox before 28, turn off the automatic update for the moment (in options > advanced > update), bind it to the old sync account (with user name, password & recovery key) and upgraded after you successfully restore your data in this way...

Install an older version of Firefox
Synchronize your bookmarks Firefox, history, passwords, etc.

  • Crasches Firefox and Thunderbird after reinstall

Today first Thunderbird crasched and after that, it was impossible to start Firefox or Thunderbird.
I removed all the programs from the PC (W7 64 bit) Mozilla and reinstalled a fresh installation. Both programs still crasches at startup.

Think the problem is resolved, restored to a restorepoint earlier and everything seems fine!
The only problem I found was that Thunderbird could not load XPCOM (?).
After reinstall TB that the problem has been resolved.

    Thank you for your support.

  • After reinstalling vista and get the updates, I've "lost" more than 10 GB on my hard drive

can anyone help? After reinstalling vista and by then setting automatic updates, I find after the download and installation of updates that I "lost" more than 10 GB on my drive hard, why is that?

Updates must be stored somewhere, and installed somewhere 10 GIG is in the normal range.  Did you do a disk cleanup?

have you saved or set a restore point?  It has been a decade since I used Vista, but I think that any time you install something made Vista a restore point.

  • Reinstall esxi 4.1 - it will remove VM

I have an esxi 4.1 server that I can't support tech (says disabled by the administrator) mode, root password does not work.  If I reinstall the esxi 4.1, it deletes my vm?

    Thank you.

The repair facility essentially fill the partition of the installation of the media system, so it clears all configuration to the host.  It is almost identical to a new installation, except that it does not wipe any data store VMFS on the installation drive (unless you choose a drive where ESXi was not installed).

Tech support mode is disabled by default and you will always have this error after reinstalling.  You can activate it with the vSphere client, in the DCUI or the vCLI / PowerCLI.   To reset a lost root password see this - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Reset_root_password.php.

  • I don't want the session to be restored after end of task

From time to time when I come across a malicious website which prevents any action of navigation. If the simplest action is to use the end task on firefox.exe task manager. It works well, however, because firefox has been forced to leave he is trying to restore the tabs, I had open. Previous versions of firefox would give you the ability to restore or to stop trying to restore after a few force leaves. now firefox keeps trying to recover the previous tabs.

How can I set firefox to ASK if I want to restore the previous session?

You can set the integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the subject: config page in order to get the about: sessionrestore page immediately with the first start after a collision has occurred or the Task Manager was used for the closing of Firefox.

  • How to enable automatic session restore after a crash

I'm trying to enable automatic session restore after a crash. I put browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to true, but it is false. Is there is a dependency on another parameter that is the cause of return? Or other means to enable automatic crash recovery?

The option 'When Firefox starts' is set to ' show my windows and tabs from last time '. I'm not under any session management extensions.

All browser.sessionstore settings have default values except these:
    Browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo: 500
    Browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo: 100
    Browser.sessionstore.restore_hidden_tabs: true
    Browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash: false

    Thank you!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe or make changes.

    1. Click Start, and then in the search box type: slui.exe 4
    2. press enter on your keyboard
    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the option to activate the phone, then call and hold to a real person.
