The problem is that the port 8000 on the server running the VMware vFog agent. This is the port that the service Colectionneurs & connector communicate on.
The configuration files need to be changed and the port changed to a port that is not taken.

  • running in vCenter Server, ESX, how clean the vCenter host?

I hope that the topic of the thread makes sense somehow.

We have vCenter Server works like an ESX VM, for now on local storage, but eventually it can be moved to the SAN storage.

To clean up our ESX host, we use Update Manager.

How does the VUM to sanitise the host that is running the vCenter Server VM?

What should I do to have AUVS to clean up the host that runs the vCenter Server VM that is running VUM?

    Thank you, Tom

If everything works on local storage, you can simply make your updates via esxupdate on the command line.

    Hello

I have a query that runs in SQL Developer without problem, but when I use it in a classic report, it displays following:

    The query is:

Any ideas what is causing this problem?

I don't have notes with me, but I think that the content of the blob must be selected as:

    DBMS_LOB. GetLength (blob_content) as blob_content

and check that you have included the primary key in the results.

  • Brain dead. Impossible to get Horizon see Agent to invite to register with CM.

I have a windows 2008R2 box I want a user can connect to. I have install the 6.1.1 agent on this 2008R2 box and select the Desktop Mode. I am prompted for the components to install, it installs, then it asks me to reboot - but I am never asked to sign up with a connection manager.

So far, I have not found anything in the VMware docs that suggest that this should work differently than on desktop computers. I read that when you try to install this on a server operating system, the RDS role must not be installed or it will take data center... etc - just trying to get this to allow a single user to sometimes use this system. ??

  • Best practice help to spend again vCenter with linked Clones

    Hello everyone

I searched for days, but couldn't find a way clear of hover over our view 5.2 installation of a new vCenter.  The equipment was aging, and we decided to upgrade and move to 5.5.

We have rebuilt and forwarded via our guests not VDI to the new vCenter 5.5 environment. I found a few documents, but nothing that tells us if it can be done actually.

We tried to go in the service of the composer initially to the new instance of vCenter and maintenance, we do the DB on the old Victoria Cross, if it worked I émigrerait the DB above the new Victoria Cross

We first tried these steps however VMware Documentation Library after removing the old VC service composer and installed on VC New (with ODBC connections mapped to the old VC) it wouldn't work.  We were moving to the VC 5.1 leaving guests ESXi running VDI attached to 5.1

Then I did more research and discovered the related clones are all related to the database of the old VC and moving them is not possible per this KB KB VMware: workstations managed by moving between servers view vCenter is not supported

I saw an article here that suggested dumping a bunch of DB and rebuild the new VC with the same name and IP address, but I can't do so because the new instance is already upwards and on a new host name / IP migrate view VCenter (with linked Clones) to new hardware

I also found this where someone is in the same boat and suggested to recreate pools.  The discussion is not in the details so I wonder if someone can clarify this: migration View Composer and vCenter

I have about 20 people on VDI in a combination of clones using 3 connected pools and personal drives.  Given that all the info from linked clone was linked to the former base of VC, it doesn't seem wise to move it to the wire.  This would be possible: I still have the base image with all the snapshots for each pool.

    • Persistent backup drives
    • Note the configuration of each pool
    • Disable the commissioning
    • Create DB on VC 55 composer vacuum
    • Create the ODBC connection for composer on VC 55
    • **
    • Do more ESXi hosts to 55 VC
    • Remove existing VMs (will be not able to connect to them at this point anyway)
    • Remove the old VC entry admin view / delete existing pools
    • Install the composer on 55, and then tap new ODBC
    • Create new instance vCenter in Admin 55-pointing mode
    • Recreate pools
    • Import and attach persistent disks (http://pubs.vmware.com/view-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.view.administration.doc/GUID-BDFCCEC8-682F-4421-8810-06108CBE8D20.html)
    • Recreate events empty DB on 55
    • Reconfigure the parameter DB events in Admin mode

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't find an exact way to do

Well, I'm pleased to say it worked! I had a few problems by removing existing pools. View repeated deletion but nothing happened. In the end I had to use ADSIedit to connect to the server to manually remove all the old discs VM and pool

After the installation of the composer on the VC 5.5, I was able to create a login in admin mode and then start to re - create the pools.

We were able to successfully reattach each disc persistent owners planned.  Did some spot checks and desktop users, bookmarks etc. all worked

It is a tedious process, but it does not work. I hope that VMware can create an article for it.  God knows that I searched for days, I had to read a lot of things just for this plan.

  • Problem with connecting to Vcenter, with vSphere ESX

Hi, I'm going to start this discussion again.

Initially, I set up a cluster with two ESX host and configured HA. VCenter is located on a virtual server on one of the ESX hosts.

At this point, everything has worked, tested HA several times and worked perfectly. Two days later, I HAD to reinstall the Vcenter server. That's when it all started. I added successfully to the cluster hosts configured HA. and I tried to test HA. Restart the ESX host, vms where migrated and strted upward on the other server, BUT the server has been restarted never maid she return to Vcenter. I could connect to it via customer, but not hollow vSphere Vcenter. After much work, I tried to disable HA and reconnect the ESX. This finnaly worked. A configured HA once again on two ESX, worked. After another reboot, it's the same thing. I have tried to restart all services, seems to me that something is wrong with the HA agent. Is this a re-install of ESX servers using?

did you check the log files within the/var/log/vmware/aam and/var/log/vmware/vpx?

  • In the virtual machine running to vCenter

    Hi all

We plan to install vcenter in a virtual machine. It will be connected to a SQL Server that will also be a virtual machine.

Everything is looking for attractive about this config but we have some questions about VUM and other patches and upgrade which will take place.

    My question are as follows:

-If the vCenter and AUVs are virtual, what will happen during a deployment of patches for these servers?

-Si SQL is also virtual, what will happen during the correction of the virtual server?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion or answer

    Michel

Uh, excuse me, but I can't quite follow your 2 questions.

Execution of vCenter with VUM in a virtual machine is a fully supported configuration where you can enjoy features such as HA for increased availability, instant etc..

I'm running a vCenter virtual with VUM and other optional packages of a virtual machine, 8 host management and 130 machines virtual too without any problems.

This guide is for vCenter 2.x, apply but to 4.x for the most part too: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_vc_in_vm.pdf

  • I seem to have in dual processes that run in the Task Manager.

In the Task Manager, I see the same process running several times.  Example: under user/Admin""(My name as) ","Local Service","Network Service"and"System"." "  These really duplicates and they slow down my system?

    Are they duplicates?  Perhaps.

They slow down your computer?  Depends on what you're trying to do.  Anything that takes your resources take the pool available for other applications.  However, if you do not run low on resources (your CPU has a lot of horses for what is needed and you're not missing memory for most) - then it probably isn't as much of a downturn as just all of the resources actually get used.  You won't slow until that run out you of resources and try to open something else.

If you worry about it?  N ° except if you have been compromised (you have a virus, worm, Trojan horse, malware any) and this is what is running - the system is as it should.  You are not running a single-user system - even if you are the only physical user.  Service accounts, etc. are there for the functionality of the machine as a whole.

    Windows XP...?

I have some tips that might help you optimize this system...

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 7 and 10 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

    CCleaner (free!)

    (Windows XP 32-bit: WindowsXP-KB942288-v3 - x 86 .exe )
(Download and save it to your desktop, run it.)

    Reset.

    and...

Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:
    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237

(If asked, select 'Run'). --> Click on NEXT--> select 'I agree' and click NEXT--> where he completed the installation, click "Finish"...

  • Reports that run "Generating Report. Please wait... "forever

Does anyone else have this problem?  I have several reports that when they contain a lot of data, run forever, and I never get the report.

For me, this isn't a bug. But I'm picky like that. In 6.5.1 vFoglight (Foglight core 5.5.8) all report/view/process that runs longer than 5 minutes are killed by the kernel Foglight engine. It is a mechanisim of security to kill the process of "thugs."  I recommend you research that vFoglight infrastructure. I solved this problem for many customers to set up the database server or vFoglight for a better response. We'll find out why it takes so long for the execution of the report. Also if you try 'Generate report' planning report. The option 'Generate report' maintains a link between the client and the host vFoglight and the connection may time out. The report may have been generated, but your connection to vFoglight host has been lost.

VFoglight 6.6 resolution is to show a progress bar with more advanced user. I don't know if the 5 minute limit has been developed. So if the underlying infrastructure is to have the relationship may not always work.

  • VMware Tools stops running

    Hello

I have an ESXi 5.1 U1 installation with a guest Windows 8.1 vSphere and problems with VMware Tools on this client. VMware Tools is installed, and that client vSphere summary screen says that it is running and the current, but after a certain time (do not know exactly how long, but I guess 20 minutes) VMware Tools stops running, resulting in people not being able to use remote desktop to connect to the host. As soon as I open the console to the guest in vSphere Client and click on the login screen then VMware Tools begin to run again and people can use remote desktop.

I tried to reinstall the VMware Tools, but that had no effect. Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Richard.

This sounds like the windows 8.1 client goes in some form of hibernation... you have all power saving / hibernation configured?

  • Running Powershell script with ESXCLI commands via a scheduled task in Windows 2012 does not work.

I'm trying to run a powershell script of a scheduled task in Windows 2012. The script calls the commands ESXCLI and ends with success (exporting to a CSV file) but the file has no data inside.  If I run the script manually without the scheduled task file has all the I expect to exit.

I wonder if there is a framework with Powershell or a PSSnapin I need to add to the script for it to run via a scheduled task.  Has anyone done this before with the ESXCLI commands?

panhvr - you may to something.  The process account that I use to run this script has only read-only access in vCenter.  I logged on the server I am running these reports with the process ID and tried to run the script.  He gave me errors indicating permission to perform the operations of esxcli was denied.

I think we found the culprit!  I'll have this process ID in vCenter rights upward.

  • Agent script - runs only once.

    Hi all

I wrote a custom script agent that uses a file of DOS commands to run a powershell script that creates a text file, then type this file on the screen.

The content of the text file is here:

    TABLE PT_GBES02_USER_COUNT

    START_SAMPLE_PERIOD

    Host.String.id = ukstrgbes02.peroot.com

    PT_GBES02_USER_COUNT = 410

    END_SAMPLE_PERIOD

    END_TABLE

The batchfile BACK content: (PT_GBES02_USER_COUNT. BAT)

    off @echo

    PowerShell-folder e:\Scripts\CountUsers.ps1

    type e:\scripts\usercount.txt

    Content of the powershell script.

    $usercount = (get-ChildItem E:\PST-filtre "GMS-BlackBerryServer *.pst.db"). County

    Clear-Content E:\Scripts\UserCount.txt

    E:\Scripts\UserCount.txt Add-Content "TABLE PT_GBES02_USER_COUNT".

    Add content E:\Scripts\UserCount.txt "START_SAMPLE_PERIOD".

    Add content E:\Scripts\UserCount.txt «Host.String.id = ukstrgbes02.peroot.com»

    Add content E:\Scripts\UserCount.txt "PT_GBES02_USER_COUNT is $usercount".

    Add content E:\Scripts\UserCount.txt "END_SAMPLE_PERIOD".

    Add content E:\Scripts\UserCount.txt "END_TABLE.

I created the agent and deployed the agent on the server. The agent runs the script once but not again. I need to run periodically.

Every time I have stop and start the agent running the script once but again its not repeated. I do not also the agent Agents/hosts with agents screen

but it is visible in the agent status page.

I have written other agents of script (even if not using powershell) and they all seem to be normally repeats.

The only messages in the log file are

    2012-11-09 09:25:36.934 ECHO VERBOSE [IncomingMessage-4444] com.quest.glue.core.agent.AgentInstance - starting data collection

    2012-11-09 09:25:37.293 ECHO INFO [IncomingMessage-4444] com.quest.glue.core.agent.AgentInstance - started data collection

No idea what I did wrong?

Hi John, it is resolved. It was the command line I used to start PowerShell

I replaced the bottom and everything works fine now

    PowerShell - ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned-NoProfile interactive non - command -.<>
