VMware Fusion has a break?

I like VMware Fusion! Thank you so much to the developers and managers of product for a product really excellent!

We have four developers PHP using Fusion to test browsers (IE6, 7 & 8 / Firefox / Safari on Windows XP & Vista).

We also have a production-server VM Linux development.

The production Linux VM type consumes almost no resources and runs like a dream.

XP VM is heavier on resources.

But when I run a virtual Vista machine - whoa - pain, pain, pain.

My beautiful Mac reactive (MBP 15 "2.4 GHz 4 GB RAM), recently all of a sudden all these additional delays as bloat-ware Vista eats CPU and talks to the memory.

I bought a Mac to get away from that.

I can suspend the VM in Vista when no browser test, so Vista continues to slow down my Mac, but...

Suspend the Vista virtual machine makes quick have we-broken - browser Internet Explorer verifies untenable.

Resume the VM (oh my poor Mac)-check the page - replace VM - takes too long.

I hear that other VM for Mac products can have a "Pause" feature

The virtual machine remains in memory.

Restart the virtual machine, do something fast (like a browser test), then he stopping once again is very fast.

VMware Fusion does a pause feature?

If this is not the case, if this feature is planned?

Thank you!

How much RAM do you have given to Vista virtual machine, and what kind of programs are you running in the host and the guest? Merger is set to be optimized for OS X applications or virtual disk performance? A 4 GB Mac should be able to run Vista without problems.

VMware Fusion does a pause feature?

Yes, even if it is not exposed in the user interface. You can get home with vmrun, a command line utility that comes with the merger. If you don't like the (entirely understandable) command line, I wrote some wrappers to automate for vmrun.

If this is not the case, if this feature is planned?

VMware policy is not to comment on unannounced features/products/time/etc., so that we cannot say.

-iMac and MacBook running VMware without any problems for several years.

-This includes several updates to Mac OS and VMware Fusion.

-OS X 10.9.5 on both systems with the latest upgrades.

-VMware Fusion 6 on all systems with the latest upgrades.

-Virtual Machines on two almost identical systems - Windows 7, all derivatives of a VM database.

    Problem started only on iMac.

In weeks, with the encouragement of support VMware and Apple have updated to Yosemite, installed VMware Fusion 7 and built Windows 8.1 scratch machines.

  • VMWare Fusion has a memory leak

I believe that VMWare Fusion has a memory leak. Version 4 has done, makes version 5 and version 6 only. I think I narrowed down it to VMWare Fusion. When I Google the topic, I find little information about it, which confuses me, as I assume that others must have this problem. I talked to the support, I did some research and I've not found anything useful. If you have had this problem, or have figured out how to fix, please let me know.

    Hi Tedmichon,

I believe that you never mentioned your guest OS?

If you the disks are aligned then disable hard disk buffering might help reduce the memory idle problem you have.

If your disks are aligned not - as the default with comments older operating systems such as Windows XP - disable and then hard disk buffering probably will diminish your experience of the guest OS. Windows Vista and later have their default aligned drives and I think that the hard disk buffering is less a problem.

To change preference may affect you negatively in other words, it was not clarified yet, but you can turn off hard disk buffering. (Don't forget the current setting)

With your VM close, go to settings-> Advanced-> disk buffering, change to disabled.

FWIW a long time ago, I aligned the disks on my main Windows XP and turn off buffering of hard drive.

    hope this helps,

  • VMWare Fusion makes a break from the virtual machine because the disk is almost full.

Is I myself am sitting at my computer this morning, I saw a message that says the guest system Windows XP Pro on my Mac Mini has been suspended. Here is the message:

"VMware Fusion has suspended this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full."

I can't find a way to shut down Windows to resize hard disk space allocation. I tried the Virtual Machine menu, but all the shut down/put off the power points are grayed out.

    Any ideas out there?

    You must read the message!

BTW if force you the VM to the bottom you may corrupt the virtual system hard disk and or the VHD file and you need to just do as the message says and free up space on the OS X hard disk even if you temporarily move a few things on an external hard drive so that you can then reactivate the Virtual Machine and continue on the it.

  • BUG: Breaks VMware Fusion when there is free space on the host < 1.9 GB... result = > 1,9 GB never use for anything! (note: I do not use a virtual disk!)

    Hello

first some info on my system:

    -

    MacBook Pro

Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz

    RAM: 4 GB

    HARD drive: 112 Go - 2 partitions (80 GB Mac OS x 10.5.6 32GB, Windows XP)

    ---

VMware Fusion version: 2.0.4 (other affected versions 2.0.3/2.0.2/2.0.1/2.0)

Allocated to the virtual machine RAM: 1.5 GB

Under Windows XP in VMware (boot_camp) partition separated - NO VIRTUAL DRIVE! -separate the NTFS partition.

    -

    Now the bug/problem:

Every time that free up disk space on the host partition (MacOsX) becomes less than 1.9 GB the VMware Fusion makes a break with this runtime message:

    -

VMware Fusion has suspended this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full.

To continue, free at least 1.9 GB of disk space.

    -

Please prove me wrong, but makes no sense to me, because the result is that these 1.9 GB is never used (or VMware) :-(

In advance, VMware Fusion allocates approximately 1.9 GB whenever the virtual machine is started then in my opinion this runtime check is redundant and the audit should run only before you start the virtual machine.

Anyone know how to move this bug to developers or solve the problem?

It's very annoying not being able to use almost 2 GB of disk space :-(

Thanks for all the relevant answers :-)

This is not a Bug! and this is the expected behavior to avoid crashing on OS X and or damage to the system as a result of unexpectedly running out of space.

If you are currently running disks tight on space you have a bigger problem then do what it's programmed to do my protect the stability of the system, because the user is not paying attention to the State of their own Fusion system.

Free and maintain a suitable available space as required by the programs that you use, and how they are used.

It's a result of error of the end user, because you shouldn't be filling your drives and should always maintain a reasonable percentage of free space.

  • What happened to the 'light' of VMware Fusion 7 has been released since version?

Earlier versions of VMware Fusion has always had a 'light' version, which did not include the McAfee or the VMware tools.

For some reason any now with version 7, this option seems to be gone. Any idea when / if a lighter version finally released?

    Example: VMware-Fusion - 6.0.2 - 1398658-fire.dmg

    -----

Note: there are two different versions of merge available for download: a version is complete is a larger file to download; the other version is marked 'light' and is a smaller download, but includes no VMware Tools .iso files for Linux or the McAfee AntiVirus Plus software.

Article is not entirely accurate and I suspect that when "VMware Fusion 7.x" was added to "product version (s):" and other sections on the page it was the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. It is my understanding that starting with VMware Fusion 7 it will be only the image of an installer, without the image of com.vmware.fusion.zip.tar update Fusion.app from VMware downloads, "VMware Fusion 7 with VMware Tools for all operating systems (full Installation)" for example "VMware-Fusion - 7.0.1 - 2235595.dmg". The AntiVirus is downloaded when clicking on ' Install McAfee AntiVirus Plus in the menu 'Virtual Machine', if desired. • How to set preferences for the network folder in VMWare Fusion

I use VMWare Fusion to run a virtual PC on my Mac which I use QuickBooks to MUCH for my business. I'm trying to get the Writer of Intuit, a complementary product to work, QuickBooks statement but there need me to change the security settings on the "network drive" my files are on. Here's what he said I should do:

"If you choose a network folder for a default save location, the system

administrator must make some specific changes on the network and address

some questions of local security. To open the QMD files over a network, the

administrator must grant full trust to any executable code or to

all Microsoft Office documents in the folder where the file qsm

stored. Either the type of access requires a change in the code access

security strategy for .NET framework on the computer. The

administrator must ensure that these changes are compatible with any

other local security policies. For more information, see Networking SIE

    and multiple users. »

Help! How can I do this?

    Thank you

    Dawn

I don't use QuickBooks but Google search for EIS networking and multiple users hit Albums is support QuickBooks - statement of Intuit writer (SIE) network and multi-user functionality and he said: 'because we do not recommend this, the files must be local when you work with them. It is necessary to copy the file IF you want to work with on your local disk, and when the finished work with the file, copy it to the server. "so this means to copy the file in the folder shared VMware on the Windows filesystem, as an example the office that you use also the feature and then mirrored folders when it copy in the shared folder of VMware.

If you don't want to do that, then it seems that the major changes that need to be taken are on the side of Windows and not really a matter of VMware Fusion in itself however in the perspective of VMware Fusion, VMware shared folder should be set to read & write and is the only permissions that VMware Fusion has no control on in this regard. Another aspect of the permissions would be on OS X and the permissions on the folder as a shared folder on VMware normally, only the owner has read & write permissions and other default permissions for reading only. You may also need to change the permissions to read & write however what I read after looking at a few other answers the main objective research to resolve that matter Windows itself using the .NET Framework Configuration tool.

So I really do not see this as a matter of VMware Fusion and see it in the totally as an issue security policy mainly on Windows, although the other mentioned permissions must be at least check and then only modified if necessary after that making the necessary changes on Windows is not sufficient even though as long as the folder shared VMware is set read/write & I think the rest this is totally of the Windows side.

  • Uninstalling VMware fusion

I used VMware Fusion on an older IMAC with Windows XP for a few years. Liked, but it was slow. I recently updated to the IMAC I7 Quad and old mac migrated to. To my surprise, the VMware Fusion has worked well. In fact, it worked great, it was fast. I've upgraded to VMware 3.11 I did a training camp on the new Imac, because I could and installed windows 7 64-bit. I works very well. Now, after a few weeks I started having Kernel panic crashes when you use Spotlight. There are a few programs have been identified as causing that. VM stuff was a few of them. So I uninstalled the program and the other VWWare. I noticed that I don't have any disk space back, not much anyway. Am I missing something? Is there a score somewhere that I can't get rid of? I would like to put this all back without the partition of the virtual computer. I wanted to try to use the VMware Fusion with Windows 7 I loaded in boot camp. I understand that this is possible. I like to keep my XP works, if I can, but I have no idea what to do next.

    Thank you

    Tim

Now, after a few weeks I started having Kernel panic crashes when you use Spotlight. There are a few programs have been identified as causing that. VM stuff was a few of them.

Do you still have the papers of panic?

So I uninstalled the program and the other VWWare. I noticed that I don't have any disk space back, not much anyway. Am I missing something?

Uninstalling merge does not affect your virtual machines, just as getting rid of the Word does not remove your .doc files or update iTunes does not touch your MP3s. Since the majority of the space used is to store virtual machines, just uninstall merger does not change much used space.

Normal virtual machines are stored in files; where exactly depends on where you have chosen when they are created. If you don't remember, try a program like Perspective Grand to know where will your space.

I wanted to try to use the VMware Fusion with Windows 7 I loaded in boot camp. I understand that this is possible.

Yes, even if you don't need to get rid of XP to do.

  • VMware Fusion 3.0.1 update error (the connection to the update server has been lost)

    Hello

I tried to update my vmware fusion many times, but I get this error message. I'm sure that is not because of my connection because I was running OSX update at the same time and I was able to update my OS x without any problems. VMware actually stopped the 3.0.1 update because they are a lot of bugs or there is something else, what happens to me laptop. BTW, I use a 2.8 Ghz MBP.

    See you soon

Instead of updating through the Fusion program, try to download the package install .dmg and upgrading in this way. Go to http://www.vmware.com/download/fusion , scroll down and get information, then download the full version (415 MB) or the Light version (170 MB, less AV and some tools). The light version can download additional items later if necessary (I hope).

  • Bootcamp Windows 7 cannot run by VMWare Fusion 8.1.0

    I use MBP (13 "mid-2010) 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Nvidia 320 M 256 MB

That's what I did in chronological order

    (1) improved my MBP to El Capitan 10.11.1

    (2) my VMWare Fusion Pro 7 did not work - asked me to upgrade to version 8 to access my Windows 7 Boot Camp

    (3) no choice... I had to upgrade to VMWare Fusion... fact to 8.0.0... my Boot Camp Windows could not always run... .deleted previous Virtual Machine... again added to select Windows in boot camp...

    (4) does not work either... just got a free upgrade to VMWare Fusion 8.1.0... now the question is much worse... when I try to add my windows Boot Camp... That said:

" Volume the Boot Camp is not prepared to stand as a virtual machine. It seems that Windows don't is is not properly stopped the last time it was used.

"To shut down Windows properly, go to System Preferences > startup disk and set Windows as the start-up operation.

    (5) tried to run windows to startup as suggested... says NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND... it seems that my windows boot file is missing?

Wait a second... (I don't know why I did... but I 'played' with the utility drive Partition and tried to expand my (not accessible) windows... between step 2) and 3) above

    Ideas to solve my problem...

    Appreciated. Thank you.

Step 1 has caused the problem. It may be easily fixable. Can you post the output of the following Terminal commands?

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

  • GPIB-usb-hs on vmware fusion

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an iMac with OS X 10.6.5 via VMWare Fusion. I installed the driver NOR-488. 2, but can not see my GPIB-USB-HS device. This post: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/NI-488-2-does-work-on-Windows-XP-Mode-within-... seems to indicate that someone else has had success; his problem was using XP Mode.

Anyone can shed some light on this? Can I expect the combination of the GPIB-USB-HS with Windows 7-64 on VMWare Fusion on an iMac to work?

I also have a USB-6215 is working well.

    Thank you!

    John-

I moved my virtual machine to an OS X 10.6.6 system and things did not work immediately. The GPIB-USB-HS was not visible to the MAX and in Device Manager it looks good, when when I open the property page, he says that there is no driver loaded.

I was able to get the GPIB-USB-HS working by choosing to update the driver through the Device Manager. The steps to do this are:

    1. right click on the GPIB-USB-HS in Device Manager and select "update driver software...". »

    2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and then "Let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

    3. you must be exactly a GPIB-USB-HS driver to choose. Select it and click Next.

    4. once it finished, view the properties of the device and make you it is said "this device is working properly."

I did the same test for validating a single request with the device, but it seems to work.

Let us know if this helps,

  • Access to a shared folder hard blocks VMWare Fusion (started happening recently)

I have access to my Mac OS X desktop as a folder within my VM and have it run this way for years without problem. Sometimes in the past month, VMWare has started completely freeze/lock up when I try to open the desktop folder in Win7 or if I try to open a file from an application running in Windows. I get no error message, just a Beachball Of Death, and VMWare will eventually (or not) report that Windows crashed and offer to reboot. Sometimes I have to force quit (and kill several VMWare process) until I can restart.

If I restart in Mode safe, I can open/read/write files very well. I can also 'mirror' of my office (instead of share) and it works very well in this way, too, but this approach is not practical as I have so more can see my normal within Windows desktop, as it is replaced by all the files from my Mac desktop,

I couldn't find all the online articles that were useful for the resolution of this problem, and it's impacting on my ability to do my job.

Again, this has been working fine until recently. As El Capitan has been recently updated and VWWare Fusion has been recently updated Windows gets patches every week, I'm not sure which, if any, of those that could have caused the problem.

    Suggestions welcome.

    Here is my configuration:

    MBP 15 retina, mid 2015 running OS X 10.11.5

16 GB of RAM (8GB assigned to Windows)

500 GB SSD 120 GB assigned to Windows

    Win7 Pro 64-bit

    VMWare 8.1.1 (3771013)

I tried re('repair') VMware Tools installation, but do not uninstall first. Just did the full cycle of uninstall/install and it is always difficult pop-up Windows (no BSD, just freezes and VWware with it). Process of the merger of VMware and vmware-vmx to hang (as shown in activity monitor).

This is * only * happening if I share my desktop Mac computer. If I share any file, it works fine. Yet once, it only started recently.

    UPDATE

Playing a hunch, I removed an alias (which points to a file on a network drive) in my office that I created recently (I had other aliases on my desk for several months, but none of them did for the network drives), and it now seems to work very well. What's weird is that I initially put crime aliases in a subfolder Desktop and VMware has worked well until I drove my cursor arrow on the subfolder (do not click to open it), when it crashed again. I put the back on my desktop and the "boom" alias, crashed almost immediately, which seems to confirm that the alias is the problem.

Windows does make a kind of prediction "read-ahead" as you move your cursor and hovering over the records?

In any case, the trigger seems to be an alias that points to a network drive, that hard to block Windows / VMware.

    Bug?

  • VMware Fusion 5 and Yosemite

    Hello

Does VMware Fusion 5 support Yosemite Mac OS X 10.10.4?

I just upgraded from Mountain Lion, but when I tried to run a virtual machine that was working on the Mountain Lion, I get "could not open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory."

    Thank you.

    Hello Yu Chun-Pong,

The answer is 'No', and follows the answer a little longer...

I'm sorry to inform you that Fusion 5.x does not work under OS X Yosemite.

5.x end merger of general support was on 23/08/2014, before the release of Yosemite.

You can watch the Matrix of Life Cycle of the products for the exact dates.

It is highly unlikely that VMware publishes an update to a product that has been withdrawn.

You can roll back to Yosemite to the Mavericks if you wish to continue using the Fusion 5.x or upgrade to a newer version supported.

If you want to test the latest version to see if it is worth your expenses, you can install and run a fully functional version of 30 days before actually committing to spending anything.

After 30 days, you purchase a license to modify the merger installed in an unlimited version.

For the assessment of the merger's direct download link

In addition, you can also choose to run the Tech Preview, but don't realize that--although normally very stable – there is no guarantees with preview/test software.

  • VMWare Fusion pro 7.1.1 - blocking running yosemite as a guest problem

    Hi all

I have a Yosemite pro running (mid-2014, 16 GB of ram video card w / discrete) MacBook. When I run a guest of yosemite, the video is very lag, and the virtual machine is generally not very handy.

The guest has 4 cores, 4 GB ram, 256 MB of video memory (using the discrete card for 3D applications only) and implements the latest vmware tools 'material' and vmware. I disabled the sound and bluetooth.

Is that what I can do to improve performance?

    Thank you!

Yes. Please check this blog for the manual workaround and a program called "BeamOff" that will provide relief without manual effort. https://derflounder.WordPress.com/2014/12/13/improving-Yosemite-VM-performance-in-VMware-Fusion/
