VMWare Fusion pro 7.1.1 - blocking running yosemite as a guest problem

Hi all

I have a Yosemite pro running (mid-2014, 16 GB of ram video card w / discrete) MacBook. When I run a guest of yosemite, the video is very lag, and the virtual machine is generally not very handy.

The guest has 4 cores, 4 GB ram, 256 MB of video memory (using the discrete card for 3D applications only) and implements the latest vmware tools 'material' and vmware. I disabled the sound and bluetooth.

Is that what I can do to improve performance?

Thank you!

Yes.  Please check this blog for the manual workaround and a program called "BeamOff" that will provide relief without manual effort.  https://derflounder.WordPress.com/2014/12/13/improving-Yosemite-VM-performance-in-VMware-Fusion/

I am not the author, and cannot vouch for the port version, however.  I downloaded the source, reviewed and updated on mine, just to be sure.  But it will fix the problem that you are experiencing.  (You need to run the application in the prompt, if it isn't obvious!)

Just updated to VMware Fusion Pro 8 and having problems of shared folders. Although the Win 7 Pro system is the area of our society, he is unable to see other computers (apart from himself) on the network. I am also unable to share folders the with the Mac OS. I followed the instructions a few times below and failed to make it work:

To configure a shared folder in a Windows virtual machine:

    1 launch VMware Fusion.

    2. turn on the virtual machine.

3 click on Virtual Machine > settings.

    4. click on sharing.

5 in Fusion 7.x, select enable shared folders. Molten 6.x, 5.x, 4.x turn files option ON the Shared. In Fusion 3.x, select shared folders on your Mac option.

    6. click on the button +.

7 navigate to the folder on the Mac which will be shared with the virtual machine and click Add.

Shared folders are accessible via the shared folders shortcut on the Windows desktop or the network Z: drive VMware.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Looks like it was too easy to install "VMware Tools". Seems to work now.

  • How can I add a former VM from VMware Fusion Pro library?

    Hello.

How to manually add an old Mac OS X VM (v10.7.x in Spanish) in the library of VMware Fusion Pro v6.0.2? Usually, VMware autoadds in my library, but it is not by adding at all. How can I do it manually?

    Thank you in advance.

That worked earlier, but I understood what caused it:library of Virtual Machine: shared vs not?

It was the permissions on the files of my VM. If they are full access to all accounts, it is shared. :/

  • VMware Fusion Pro 5.0.1 dies suddenly

I just upgraded from Fusion 4 to Fusion Pro 5.0.1 on OS X 10.7.5 and seem to be affected by what should have been a bug probably blocking release, because it weakens the App to die.

In the window of the Virtual Machine library, at the bottom where it shows the space used by the virtual machine, there is a small icon "recharge."  When I click on it, after about 1.5 seconds, the following is written in the console log:

    05/11/12 6:48:07.999 PM [0 x 0-0x21b31b1].com.vmware.fusion: NOT_IMPLEMENTED bora/lib/disklib/sparseChecker.c:1291

    ...
A bunch more is written, mostly cleaning other VMware (vmnet, vmmon, vsock, vmci) modules.
I tried to search the community forums and haven't seen any mention of this by someone else, which surprises me.  It is always reproducible behavior.
Also, try to reduce the disk using the recommended 'Clean Up' button seems to weigh to halfway through, requiring a Force Quit to end the application.
Pointers to patches or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hello dossy,

The Fusion product manager sometimes read the forums... but I have read the source code, so I take it on the product manager. (Sorry, spb2011.)  Please, trust me on this one.  If the virtual computer is running, your VMDK is corrupted now.

This failure currently kills the user interface (unfortunately) because the specific type of corruption is very rare and is not something that we can put back easily.  We have not yet implemented the code to display the dire situation for the user.  You are right: we should not kill Fusion for this, and it's something we can implement.  I'll drop an internal bug report to take care of this.

What I do is what allows you to bypass the part that we have not implemented: once that us to implement, it would likely post a dialog box saying "your virtual disk is damaged in a ugly way, and I don't know how to fix it.", followed by a large part of the same statement that I gave in my previous post : Make sure you have a backup, take a new backup, check the drive host for consistency problems, then try again...

Why your VM seems to work very well?  Two possible reasons come to mind: when the VM is running, we realize every possible on a VMDK, critical consistency check while performance will the virtual machine.  When you click the button to refresh the information on space use the VM, we take the time to look at records more carefully, so that we find the error of consistency that I describe, which unfortunately brings the app of Fusion to a grinding halt.  The explicit consistency check also covers all of the virtual disk and its snapshots, while corruption in a neighborhood rarely used virtual drive or in its chain of snapshot is not likely to be detected during normal operation.

    I hope this helps!

  • VMWare Fusion Pro

    Hi all

Two questions: can I create of virtual machines with Fusion Pro? And I can change the hardware settings on virtual machines with Fusion Pro? i.e. Add another network connection, modify a serial port, change the hard drive sizes, etc...

Context: I buy a new laptop for a company I put in place, and I'm looking at a mac. Most of my software is windows based, which is not a problem, because I already use VMWare workstation on my PC. But I can not run on a mac Workstation, so if I need to create new virtual machines, I have to go back to a PC workstation, or can Fusion Pro do?

Option B is to create a virtual Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 using my existing PC, then basically save them as models and the clone necessary to make new machines.

Option C is to use the PC to create a windows virtual machine, and then use Fusion to run VMWare Workstation on the virtual machine on the mac, and save the virtual machine, I create the machine host to run them using VMWare fusion. But that means the purchase of two packages, and besides, I'm worried that Xzibit will appear and say "Yo dawg, I you herd as VM" or I'll violate the space/time continuum and cause a black hole

If anyone knows where I can find a comparison chart between Fusion and Fusion Pro would be great as well

    Thank you!

VMware Fusion while having only the features of VMware Workstation however it is much more then what VMware Player is and can create and modify Virtual Machines.

The comparison to VMware Fusion vs VMware Fusion Professional is right in front of you to the VMware Fusion product page!

  • VMWare Fusion Pro can see the ESXi data store but not VM on it.

    Hi all

I have a MacPro 5.1 I am under ESXi on via a USB key. The MacPro has 4 SATA drives configured as stores of data with VM on some of them.

  • VMWare Fusion 6 extremely slow on iMac i5 / Yosemite

    Hello

I can't with VMWare Fusion 6 running on my iMac i5.

I recently did a complete reinstallation of the operating system, and it works now a soft Yosemite with VMWare Fusion 6.0.5.

When you run a freshly installed Windows 8.1 image (basically doing nothing, with no extra apps running) I

    see the following topics:

    * vmware-vmx process is constantly around 100% (top)

    * Computer becomes very slow, there is a considerable delay even to type the text in TextEdit.

    * When I turn off VMWare Fusion, the computer returns to normal.

(This problem is not new to Yosemite. I had the same problem on the Mavericks and Mountain Lion, and I had

in light of all the comments up on VMWare running on the computer, but I had hoped that a complete reinstall might help things)

    Computer data:

    Mid-2011 iMac, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (1 GB set to the virtual machine, as suggested by VMWare)

Drive of fusion (256 ssd + 2 TB)

  • Download VM to ESXi using VMware Fusion Pro for Mac

I am new to this game and to this community so forgive me if I missed a few points of etiquette. (I'll probably go to VMware support with that in a few days)

So I have ESXi running on my Mac Mini. Nice. I get the https:// 'Home Page' and I can browse the unused data center. So I upgraded to Fusion 7 Pro to manage and download the VMs of my Mac - but no luck with downloading at all.

First attempt, he lamented the "hardware version", I had updated to 11.

So I tried another again just on v10 and all I got was an indeterminate progress bar and then ' closely linked server after 0 bytes of response read"(see attached screenshot)

Have I missed an obvious step, or is there a problem with this Mini. (He has been on the shelf for centuries with a note on the SSD inside do not start OSX correctly, that's why I thought it would be a good candidate for the installation of the trial ESXi)

Bravo for any help/pointers for a noob

I think that the local SSD storage must simply have been duff. I wiped another mini and it seems ok download. (If I had not missed a step. Go, me!)

  • Bootcamp Windows 7 cannot run by VMWare Fusion 8.1.0

    I use MBP (13 "mid-2010) 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Nvidia 320 M 256 MB

That's what I did in chronological order

    (1) improved my MBP to El Capitan 10.11.1

    (2) my VMWare Fusion Pro 7 did not work - asked me to upgrade to version 8 to access my Windows 7 Boot Camp

    (3) no choice... I had to upgrade to VMWare Fusion... fact to 8.0.0... my Boot Camp Windows could not always run... .deleted previous Virtual Machine... again added to select Windows in boot camp...

    (4) does not work either... just got a free upgrade to VMWare Fusion 8.1.0... now the question is much worse... when I try to add my windows Boot Camp... That said:

" Volume the Boot Camp is not prepared to stand as a virtual machine. It seems that Windows don't is is not properly stopped the last time it was used.

"To shut down Windows properly, go to System Preferences > startup disk and set Windows as the start-up operation.

    (5) tried to run windows to startup as suggested... says NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND... it seems that my windows boot file is missing?

Wait a second... (I don't know why I did... but I 'played' with the utility drive Partition and tried to expand my (not accessible) windows... between step 2) and 3) above

    Ideas to solve my problem...

    Appreciated. Thank you.

Step 1 has caused the problem. It may be easily fixable. Can you post the output of the following Terminal commands?

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

  • VMware Fusion 3 running extremely slow...

First of all, my MacBook Pro:

    Core 2 T9300 2.5 GHz

    4 GB memory

    250 GB SATA HARD DRIVE

    Snow Leopard 10.6.1

    VMware Fusion 3.0

When I was with Leopard and VMware Fusion 2.x, the virtual machines run fast, but now they are extremely slow. BTW, I have activated the 64-bit kernel.

I managed to find the reason, it's because the "mds" in the host OS process, is not a problem of the guest operating system. Everytime I turn on my Windows XP in VMware, "mds" will appear in the activity monitor window, and account for about 2% ~ 20% CPU, hard drive usage becomes noisy at the same time. What I could do is just wait, after about an hour, mds will be 'calm down' and my MBP back alone. But, when the next time I turn on my virtual machine, "mds" will appear again...

"Mds" makes me crazy... I tried to google for answers, but no result.

Anyone faced this problem too? Or someone knows how to solve the problem? Thank you!

We found just a bug where in some cases fusion 3 will be a spotlight on every launch search (it is supposed not only to occur once), which seems to be exactly what describes this thread. You can work around this bug open Terminal.app and running

defaults write com.vmware.fusion PLLibrarySpotlightSearchDone -bool YES

Please let us know if that fixes things (or if not).

  • Cannot run VMWare Fusion on Mac 10.9.4 6.4

I use Fusion for some time on my Mac (Mavericks 10.9.4). Recently, when I went to launch Fusion 6.4, I received this message:

    Cannot run VMWare Fusion

VMware Fusion is damaged and cannot be repaired. Please move the VMWare Fusion application to the trash and reinstall VMWare Fusion

So, I removed the merger application and downloaded again. When I installed it, I got the same message. Well, I thought that this must be one of these 'hidden' files, see you must be corrupt, so I used App Zapper to get rid of the merger and all files related; emptied the Recycle Bin, so merger was gone, gone, gone. Uploaded a new image, the same thing!  No matter what I do, I can't use Fusion. Suggestions?

Do not use Zapper App - merger, running specific uninstall scripts.

I've seen that occur when get-Gatekeeper confused about how something has been installed, when permissions are confused, or when a hard drive is running out.  If you have VMWare Fusion and have installed and it run under an administrator account (default in OS x unless you change it), then first use disk utility to first 'check disk' (if you want something better, look for smart voltains software utility), then repair permissions.  If this does not work, try to right click on the merger in the applications folder, and choose open.

  • problem with Boot Camp, VMware Fusion 3, ethernet does not (not driver)

    Hello guys,.

I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit installed in Boot Camp and I'm running as a virtual machine using VMware Fusion OSX 10.6.6 3.1.2.

The problem I have is that the ethernet does not work under VMware, even with VMware Tools installed.  Device Manager shows no driver installed.

I googled and found a lot of suggestions to add ethernet0.virtualDEV = "e1000" to the simultaneous file, but I looked and this line is already there.

I tried reinstalling VMware, VMware Tools, the Boot Camp drivers, NIC Add/Remove VMware settings, change NAT to the deck and vice versa. Nothing works.

    Any suggestions?
