VMware View load balancing

In the scenario that you have two servers to view security and two connection view servers... What happens if one of the servers connection goes down - how security server with which it is associated know to stop traffic on this leg so that all connections use high security server and the connection to the server pair? Otherwise, it makes no sense to have two security servers you get no true dismissal through the load balancer.

For balancing the load in front of security servers, you should healthcheck servers security with 'GET favicon.ico HTTP/1.0 '. In this way, if a security server is out of service or its pairs login server is down, traffic will route to the other security servers.

Traditional providers of load balancer documentation includes details on their implementation of this way to get complete fault tolerance.

    Hello

After the use of VMWare for server virtualization, it is time to move to the next step.

We are in the middle of a display driver 5 :-)

At the moment I have 2 host vmware (esxi 5) with storage connected to a San.

My "master VM" is in the SAN and connected to two hosts.

A pool is created and data warehouses them are selected for the pool.

The replicas are created on two local data stores when I set up the pool.

At the time, my drivers 10 users working on a related Clone which is located on the local storage.

The strange thing is that all users are running on a single host.

East on the host with the most free space.

When I remove the data store, the virtual machine is created on the other host.

After adding it, are all the vm on the store with the largest disks again.

How can I configure display to use the two hosts?

This is a normal behavior of View Composer to put desktops on the storage the largest space available. You can change this behavior by adjusting storage approval settings. Take a look at this blogpost:

  • Overview of VMware View 5.2 Load Balancing

    Hi guys,.

I use VMware view Horizon 5.2 and my infrastructure is as follows:

    2 view x servers security

    2 view connection x servers

Can anyone please guide me how to configure load balancing and what are the best practice Horizon of VMware View load balancer configuration.

    See you soon

Simply place your load balancer in front of the two security servers. This is indicated on page 70 - figure 5-2.

If you also want to allow access by internal users, and then add two replicas more connection to the server. This is indicated on page 71 - figure 5-3.

Your reviews will connect to the alias balanced appropriate load.

  • DST and vmware view = weird questions

This is the 3rd time that when the time comes or goes we get questions of kind of weird in our very frequent floating pools, VMs stuck in starting up, wait for connection etc.

If you look at the log below you will see that the virtual machine has been one hour before, and then she came back at the right time.

    Anyone else seen elsewhere?

Re: View 5.3 - desktop blocked at startup

  • With view 5.1 load balancer

    Hey all,.

I have a question about to lift our load balancing program and perform in our view environment 5.1. I followed the article KB 2020913 to get our servers view running with SSL certificates. I'm doing our load balancer in place and I keep getting errors in SSL certificate. Here is a brief summary of our facility. I have two servers to view (VCS1 and VCS2) connection with our internal certificate authority SSL certificates. There is our program of load balancing. When you use VMware View Client and go to the view.company.com address of the load balancer, I get "pipe in the certificate name is invalid or does not match. I click on 'See the certificate' and it is to show the certificate of one of the connection view servers. A I mess up something with the installation program, or have I missed an obvious solution? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    -Kyle

    Hello

It is the expected behavior. With SSL, the certificate name is checked by report specified by the client host name.

There are two ways to deal with this. If you are using certificates with another subject of your load-balanced alias name, it all will work.

for example if you have some certs on each connection to the server (or the Security Server) with the names cs1.myco.com and cs2.myco.com but customers do you think users will connect using a load-balanced alias view.myco.com, then by ensuring that each cert has another name of subject of view.myco.com then the hostname match control work.

See KB. VMware.com/kb/2006751 for more information.

  • View connection load balancing servers

I want to install 2 view of connection on different cluster servers and load balance their. Is this possible? I use this time notice 4.6, but can I upgrade to version 5, as appropriate. I am currently only run 1 server now and I would like to add another if possible to reduduncy.

This can be done easily, but you will need a method to provide the balance of the charge, as the view that only in native mode. Video related herein exceeds at some point, http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-14974of load balancing.

  • Horizon 6.0 HTML Blast connection through an A10 load balancer?

    Hey all.

After a recent update to 6.0.0 of 5.1, we seek to get HTML Blast connections operation. We are routing our PCoIP connections through an A10 load balancer. Now, I'm not the person of networking which set up but from my understanding, we have a VIP configuration for port 443 for our two servers for connection. With the help of the A10, we set up a second VIP with two connection for port 8443 servers. Load balanced connections to https://myfriendlyname.domain.com half of the working time. The time, they do not work you can access the destination page, connection, choose the pool, and then page cannot be displayed or couldn't resolve proxy in Chrome. If you go to the #2 server directly by going to https://server_name , it works fine. If you go to the #1 server by going to https://server_name/ it does not work. Both in the Horizon view Admin > servers > server connection > edit > Blast external URLS are https://myfriendlyname.domain.com/: 8443. If you change this to the individual server, server #1 will always work. Just like the #2 server. So I tell myself, is not a thing of VMware, but something of the A10. I know that a connection initiated on port 443 must be the same server, generating the connection on port 8443, otherwise it will go down. I checked with our team of networking and check that the permanent sessions are enabled. We went over a few rounds with A10 and they encountered no HTLM Blast before. I saw a few workarounds for F5, but nothing for the A10.

Does anyone have experience with getting this work with A10?

    Thank you.

Another updated. We have allowed the persistence of server on the VIP and that solved the problem.

  • Console Proxy doesn't work is not behind the edge load balancer

I have a strange problem. I set up a load balancer with vShield Edge. Behind the load balancer, I have two cells vCloud. The Web interface works very well for users, but trying to connect a VMRC to view remote screen it displays 'connection' and then the session is disconnected.

Then I stop the first cell and users can establish a VMRC connection again. When I activate the first cell once again, the web interface continues to work, but not the proxy of the console. Then I stop the second cell and now elements of the console working again.

    Any tips?

    Gabrié

Have a similar setup and had the same problem. Two things to check. Go to c:\users\\appdata\local\temp\vmware- and open the last file vmware-vmrc - xxxx.log. Towards the end, it should tell you why it's a failure. For me, it was a conflict of thumbprint SSL, dating back to the different SSL certificates on the cells. Also, be sure to vCloud Director Administration-Public address you have the right audiences VCD console address specified. To resolve the inconsistency of my mark, I just created a file certificates.ks a cell and then copied on the other cell and reran the script configures. Good luck with VMware to help. I opened a folder for this issue 6 days ago and have yet to get any help!

  • VMware View on Win8RT

I think I have a Samsung ATIV Tablet and weighs checks and balances on the vs XE500 XE700, a large (the reason I'm looking for a device) is the vmware view client.

Dows windows RT supports a version of VMware View?

    Thank you.

The current version is a universal application (based on JavaScript) so it will install on all platforms. The only way to get it right now is the lateral load the app by downloading and extracting the zip file from the link above on your hard drive, navigate through the folders to find the file .ps1, right-clicking and selecting run in Powershell. If you follow all the instructions and sign in with a Microsoft Account it will allow you to side load the app. However, you will get updates automatically by the Windows store.

Our app currently makes its way through the Windows Store approval process, but we run into a few hiccups. Therefore, I can't estimate when it will be published. If you want to try it out right now I would recommend downloading and loading it. I will update the thread when the customer is approved. We will have a blog post on with more information on the requirements of the customer (by example fully verifiable view connection server and server certificates tunnel) when we get approval Windows Store.

  • The installation of VMWare View Server program

    Hello

I have a solution of ESXi, vSphere 5 where I host all my virtual servers with a virtual vCenter Management Standard. I'm working on that I need for a configuration of VMWare View and I was hoping someone here could help me.

I have 12 physical blades to host my VMWare View solution (according to the calculations of number of jobs) and I have VMWare View Bundle licenses.

Ive been reading through the notes and he says that this set comes with an edition of vCenter.

    A few questions:

My existing vCenter instance should be used to manage the VMWare View host or do I need to install a separate instance of vCenter VMWare View and use the license in the bundle?

I guess I should install ESXi instances in the beam that will allow me to supply only desktop computers?

If I have servers connection and composer, should they be hosted in Clusters VMWare View or the cluster of servers existing vsphere 5?

If this is the case, I also have a question about the network configuration. When I install the ESXi for VMWare View, will I still have a requirement for a management console, the vmkernel, and the 'Front End' (for users IP address) vnic to the vswitch?

Another question about the round rbin DNS. I try to also install Connection 2 and 2 servers of composer whose load is balanced. Anyone has any info on setting up of Robin DNS?

    Thank you very much

We use a 6 with network storage based physical NETWORK adapter configuration.

You will have a default port for management. vMotion is split to its own IP address, and these two vmkernel ports are on the same vSwitch, with natachasery used by one and waiting for the other.

iSCSI must be separated from its own vSwitch and pair of NICs as well supported by linked vmkernel ports for redundancy and load balancing.

This leaves at least another vSwitch and pair of natachasery to the actual traffic of vm.

  • Replica of VMware View

    Hi all

VMware View replica will improve as load balancing and high availability or just load balancing?

The replica view server uses a copy of the adam database connection agent that offers customers the opportunity to connect and authenticate.

  • See the connection to the server, load balancer & physical workstations

We deploy a VMWare view environment and we use a combination of physical and virtual desktops.

When install us the Agent to view physical workstations with the /V "VDM_VC_MANAGED_Agent = 0" settings. " This allows to specify the Server Manager to view to record the workstation during installation.

So far we've just been specifying a connection view servers and everything was fine. But now we are getting our deployment and we want to ensure that we have the appropriate redundancy built in.

If the server connection view that physical workstation is registered during installation fails, is grave view agent automatically knows to start watching one of the replica servers?

If it isn't... We are keen to implement a load balancer between the workstations phyiscal on connection view servers. Are there problems with it?

I found many articles balancer redundancy and load for VMWare View, but none don't talk specifically a load balancer between physical work stations with the agent of the view and connection servers.

Take a look in the registry on the physical Machine, he must list all available connection brokers it.

  • VMware View 4.5 Client slow in WAN

    Hello

We tested VMware View 4.5 Client in WAN and it seems to be slow.

Not too big gap between RDP and PCoIP.

How much bandwidth needed a client VMware View 4.5 normally, a normal desktop, non-multimedia user?

    Thanks Mike,.

Here are some notes more - in addition to sizing guidelines, it may be wise to adapt some of the PCoIP session variables - see the knowledge base article http://techsupport.teradici.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=15164&task=knowledge&questionID=348Teradici.

In addition, for MPLS to check if the load balancing has been configured for the link? Per packet load balancing results in fragmented packets that should not be used with PCoIP Protocol. If you need load balancing MPLS consider using instead the load balancing and the destination.

If you have not already done so, do not hesitate to ask the team to Teradici - you can send an email to [email protected].

  • Hi ALL, did any attempt on the virtual computer NETWORK load balancing using HYPERV on UCS blades

I try to configure the CASE server cluster by using the Unicast NLB on the virtual machine on different blades on the UCS, it works for awhile, then he abandoned packages.

I heard that this screenplay of unicast is not supported in the UCS when she used END-host mode in the fabric interconnet...? any attempted before.

Would it, I use the multicast mode is that something needs to be done on the FBI62020 or the LAN switch upstream. ??

Header note I found on the implementation of UCS for mulitcast NLBL:

Microsoft NLB can be deployed in 3 modes:

    Unicast

    Multicast

    IGMP multicast

For series B UCS deployments, we have seen that the multicast and IGMP multicast work.

IGMP multicast mode seems to be the more reliable deployment mode.

To do this, the monitoring settings:

All NLB Microsoft value "Multicast IGMP" nodes. Important! Check ths by logging into EACH node independently. Do not rely on the MMC of NLB snap.

An IGMP applicant must be present on the VLAN of NLB. If PIM is enabled on the VIRTUAL LAN that is your interrogator. UCS cannot function as applicant IGMP. If an interrogator of functioning is not present, NLB IGMP mode will not work.

You must have a static ARP entry on cheating it upstream pointing IP address Unicast NLB on the multicast MAC address NETWORK load balancing. This need will set up, of course, on the VLAN of the NLB VIP. The key is that the routing for the NLB VLAN interface must use this ARP entry as a unicast IP ARP response may not contain a multicast mac address. (Violation of the RFC 1812) Hosts on the NLB VLAN must also use the static entry. You may have several entries ARP. IOS can use a function of 'alias' of ARP. (Google it.)

How Microsoft NLB works. -The truncated for brevity Mac addresses.

    TOPOLOGY OF NLB MS

NETWORK VLAN 10 = subnet 10.1.1.0/24 IP load balancing

VIP = 10.1.1.10 NETWORK LOAD BALANCING

Arp entry static switch advanced IP 10.1.1.10 upstream to MAC 01

NLB VIP (MAC 01, IP 10.1.1.10)

    NODE-A (AA, MAC IP:10.1.1.88)

    NŒUD-B (MAC BB, IP:10.1.1.99)

Using the IGMP snooping and interrogator VLAN snooping table is filled with the mac NLB address and groups pointing to the appropriate L2 ports.

MS NLB nodes will send the responses of IGMP queries.

This snooping table could take 30 to 60 seconds to complete.

Host on VLAN 200 (10.200.1.35) sends traffic to NETWORK VIP (10.1.1.10) load balancing

It goes of course to VLAN 10 interface that uses the static ARP entry to resolve to address MAC 01 VIP NETWORK load balancing.

Since it is a multicast frame destination it will be forward by the IGMP snooping table.

The framework will arrive at ALL NLB nodes. (NŒUD-A & NŒUD-B)

NLB nodes will use its load balancing algorithm to determine which node will manage the TCP session.

Only one NLB node will respond to this host with TCP ACK to start the session.

    NOTES

This works in a VMware with N1k, standard vSwtich and vDS environment. Where surveillance IGMP is not enabled, the framing for VIP MAC NETWORK load balancing will be flooded.

NLB can only work with TCP-based services.

As stated previously mapping an IP unicast to a multicast mac address is a violation implied by RFC 1812.

    TROUBLESHOOTING

Make sure your interrogator is working. Just to clarify that this does not mean that it is actually at work.

Wireshark lets check that IGMP queries are received by the NLB nodes.

Make sure that the ARP response works as expected. Once Wireshark again is your friend.

Look at the paintings IGMP snooping. Validate the L2 ports appearing as expected.

-There is no impact on the configuration, you have done service profiles. they will continue to work as expected. Mode selector has the FI behave more like a conventional switch. Most notable is that Spanning tree will be activated and if you have several uplinks yew, tree covering weight will begin to block redundant paths.

You need to review your topology and what impact tree covering weight. Generally, we at the switch port upstream defined as "edge master", you want to delete this line.

  • Nexus 1000v, UCS, and Microsoft NETWORK load balancing

    Hi all

I have a client that implements a new Exchange 2010 environment. They have an obligation to configure load balancing for Client Access servers. The environment consists of VMware vShpere running on top of Cisco UCS blades with the Nexus 1000v dvSwitch.

Everything I've read so far indicates that I must do the following:

1 configure MS in Multicast mode load balancing (by selecting the IGMP protocol option).

    2. create a static ARP entry for the address of virtual cluster on the router for the subnet of the server.

    3. (maybe) configure a static MAC table entry on the router for the subnet of the server.

    3. (maybe) to disable the IGMP snooping on the VLAN appropriate in the Nexus 1000v.

    My questions are:

    1. any person running successfully a similar configuration?

2 are there missing steps in the list above, or I shouldn't do?

    3. If I am disabling the snooping IGMP on the Nexus 1000v should I also disable it on the fabric of UCS interconnections and router?

Thanks a lot for your time,.

    Aaron

    Aaron,

The steps above you are correct, you need steps 1-4 to operate correctly. Normally people will create a VLAN separate to their interfaces NLB/subnet, to prevent floods mcast uncessisary frameworks within the network.

    To answer your questions

    (1) I saw multiple clients run this configuration

    (2) the steps you are correct

    (3) you can't toggle the on UCS IGMP snooping. It is enabled by default and not a configurable option. There is no need to change anything within the UCS regarding MS NLB with the above procedure. FYI - the ability to disable/enable the snooping IGMP on UCS is scheduled for a next version 2.1.

This is the correct method untill the time we have the option of configuring static multicast mac entries on
the Nexus 1000v. If this is a feature you'd like, please open a TAC case and request for bug CSCtb93725 to be linked to your SR.

This will give more "push" to our develpment team to prioritize this request.

Hopefully some other customers can share their experience.

    Regards,

    Robert
