  • Windows® XP file Association problems? Copyright 2003 - Doug Knox? his files work?

Windows® XP file Association problems? Copyright 2003 - Doug Knox? his files work?

It is wrong to go all that is your problem.

I have instructions to run the Doug Knox fix as a copy/paste of my notes, I'll never have to type it once again, which means that (at least for the EXE usual file association problem), I like to use, but we don't know what your question is.  In fact, the majority of the stuff I answer here is just a copy and paste, I have fixed some things so many times...

Here's what I have copy and paste about afflicted EXE file associations:

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP doesn't know what to do with files by looking at the file extension (.exe for executables)., .doc for MS documents, etc.

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.

Go to this site WWW by Doug Knox:

    http://www.dougknox.com/

On the left, click on the Win XP fixes, file Association fixed and read the instructions at the top of the page.

Download the EXE File Association Fix on your desktop, unzip the file and apply it by following the instructions at the top of the page, then to restart and test.

Run the following scans for malware, and then fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

  • Windows File Protection dialogue Windows 2003 Server

I got an error of Windows on Windows Server 2003 File Protection. The dialog box asks for Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition CD-ROM. I didn't have one, so I downloaded a version zipped our site of Volume License, but he doesn't like it.

The server came pre-installed Dell about 4 years ago but all the software is on the site of volume license that I have access to.
There is no entry in the newspapers of the events for that. I restarted the server after execution of critical patches from Microsoft and got this dialog box when I logged in.
I also looked through all the logs at startup time and I can't find anything about the dialog box.
Any ideas on what I can do? I didn't cancel the dialog box again, and the server seems to work very well.

  • By default Windows Explorer setting - copy the files instead of move

Is there a way of installing the my documents folder (and all that it contains) so that it always copies files, rather than move them.  "I often move the files of people to my"my folder"Documents on my desk to work on it".  I'd rather have the files copied and not moved so that I'm not move or modify the original.  Is it possible to set this up?

    Depends,

If you drag files click right use drag and at least, you can use the list of options to choose from.

Or you can use Alt + EF and that copy into the folder, and then navigate to the folder.

I have also run the Windows updates for all high priority updates, replaced the files %windir%\system32\snmp*.* with those of another R2 SP2 server that is not the problem (after rename the original to the *.old files & copy the same files in the folder DLLcache so SFC would stop interfering ;)) and checked for other errors that may show a reason for this - the only thing that I can connect to it) , it is that services IISAdmin & GoogleUpdate (gupdate & gupdatem) having the same problem, but unrelated to seams...

  • Is - this Windows 2003 64-bit supports the USB WD My Passport HIS drive?

I bought a WD 2 TB my drive USB of HIS passport and tried to connect to a windows 2003 64-bit server, but the drive does not appear in the list of local drive. I checked in the computer management > Device Manager > ComputerName > discs and found that there is a driver for device usb WD My Passport 0748.

I conect the usb WD drive in my windows XP machine and copy the driver ITS \\Extras\WD device driver folder and transferred to local drive of the windows 2003 server and I tried to update the driver but the driver update failed and telling me that there are no compatible driver in the source folder.

Here are the contents of the folder:

    wdcsam - security catalog

    wdcsam - information for installation

    wdcsam - file system

    wdcsam64 - file system

I tried to search the site Web of WD for the compatible driver 64 bits, but, according to the Internet, the USB doesn't have a driver for windows because its use of the microsoft driver. Below are the links related to the topic of Microsoft and WD which, in my case, does not contribute to the problem.
