Void warranty?

I have a dell inspiron 5558.

I want to replace the optical drive with a HARD drive. Break my warranty?

Dell offers a guide to do such a thing. I understant it is no guarantee for new material (which is pretty obvious) but what about all the rest?

That part is considered as replaceable by the user - that said, any damage to the facility it would be excluded from the warranty.  Also, make sure that you keep the original drive in case any warranty work is required.

  • Satellite A200-130: done remove from the hidden partition void warranty

    Hello

remove the hidden recovery partition will void the warranty on the Satellite A200-130?

    No, certainly not!

You can delete what you want ;) you can also install a different operating system.

You would lose the guarantee only if you open and disassemble the laptop or attempt to upgrade not upgradable components such as CPU for example.

Just for the note; You can set the laptop back to the factory settings using the Toshiba Recovery CD.

This would create a new hidden too restore partition.

Upgrade to 8 GB of RAM (from 4 GB) on my Lenovo Yoga 500 the warranty? The Lenovo store in my community will be able to upgrade?

  • Can't decide on a PC and a Question about the warranty.

Hello. After seeing EVERYTHING at my disposal, HP is one. This is where the problem begins. I know which one I choose is custom. But do the desktop PC HP ENVY Phoenix h9 - 1400t or the desktop HP ENVY h8 - 1520t? I'll do the average more stuff: photo editing, movies, burning CD/DVD and looking in the game (very very new to the game).

I have a budget that my wife won't let me go. So to get a PC will not be 100% to my tastes. In order to get 100%, I'll have to get a LIGHTSCRIBE DRIVE and a 120 GB SSD to add to the computer. Get the SSD installed at HP puts me on the budget and I'm not the extra burner. If I add these two things to the PC myself it the WARRANTY?

We will also add 2 more to the House. Laptop, Ultrabook or tablet. I don't know who. All will need a recovery/boot. Optical drive may not be on all. What should I use Dedicated USB Flash key for each or external hard drive (all three spend on one) or should I arrange to put everything on DVD.

To my knowledge, lighscribe is outdated technology. There are not many manufacturers optical drive with lightscribe now.

Addition of 128GB SSD does not void warranty.

Is recommended to have a separate 16 GB / 32 GB flash drives according to the recommendation of the system to keep the recovery image.

I would recommend Flash as the disks.

  • [W520] Warranty affected by hardware upgrades?

    Hello

a few days ago, I ordered a W520 (4 years of warranty on place + protection). Now, I think the following improvements:

-increase RAM 8 GB, i.e., install an additional module of 4 GB

-install an SSD from Intel (mSATA) 310

My question is: can I install this material myself without voiding warranty?

I did some research on Google and it seems adding that RAM shouldn't be a problem, right? Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on the mSATA SSD.

    Kind regards

    Sven

    Yes you can.

    Hello

Portege 3440 supports 64 MB internal memory and this memory cannot be deleted.
    As a location is available.

As far as I know Toshiba recommends to use these modules for an upgrade:

    * SDRAM 64 MB (PA3033U - 1 M 06). *
    * SDRAM 128 MB (PA3034U - 1 M 12) *.

I think you could google for these simple figures and you should get a photo or any need for details on these modules

Yes, it can accommodate a normal HARD disk (up to 9.5 mm thickness), but you can buy the part 856352-001 to connect.

Please note: you cannot do it yourself, this will void warranty for sure.

  • Satellite P850 - 12 X - update Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

    Hello

I'm writing this information for those who want to upgrade their wirelss adapter inside the Intel 7260AC card dual band.

This card functions perfectly on my Satellite P850-12 X, but you will need to cover the pin 20 with a piece of tape so that it works correctly. I installed this card in my laptop, installed the drivers etc, everything went well past shown in dev Manager without problems, but them was always a red x across wireless networks connections and nothing would show. After spending several days trying to figure out what the problem was, I came across this information I share now. I will not go, why you need to cover the pin20 which would take a whole new thread.

The intel 7260 dual band wireless card works with incredibly fast speeds and has a capacity of Widi and bluetooth and is well recommended but iff after the installation of the card that you have similar problems, as I had then you now have the soloution I saved days of reasearch. All donations most wecome :)

    Hi Sam

    Thanks for sharing your experience.
I just want to add that these updates is not supported by Toshiba and these updates probably will void warranty valid. This should know any owner of the laptop and do these updates on his own risk.
With other words each of us must know this and make own decision how to handle this situation.

In any case, I m happy to know that everything went well with your upgrade. :)

    Good luck.

  • Satellite U300 - How can I choose the resolution of the screen 1366 x 728?

    Hello world!
Have a problem with connecting external display to my U300 - namely a TOSHIBA LCD TV

I used a laptop computer from a different manufacture earlier and had no problem to connect my TV big screen as an external monitor with a resolution widescreen (1366 x 728), chipset - Intel 915

Now that I've tried to do the same thing with the U300, I discovered that there is no such a resolution in the list. Only non-large available resolutions, including the monstrous 2500 something x 1500 something.

I studied the case and discovered that removed intentionally Toshiba screen resolutions of the list of resolutions available using the video BIOS Table (VBT) in the BIOS. Download cooler version of the BIOS did not help. The U300 uses intel 965 chipset that certainly supports this resolution. The manual says that the use not recommended resolution likely to overheat the system, but I'm pretty darn sure that 2500 x 1500 uses a lot more resources.

The only thing that has helped is Strip program but it is not only the best solution because it has some bugs and doesn't work at all stable time.

The question: does anyone know why Toshiba do that? Why they exclude list screen resolutions? is this some sort of thing marketing or something?

NB: for some models, they have released a new version of BIOS that solves this problem (some Tecra models) but not for Satellites...

I don't know why, there may be a limitation with the graphics chip or something.

Which is wrong with powerstrip? I used it successfully the results, it has been fairly stable. But I'm a little afraid to use it as this could damage the system, possibly void warranty of your laptop. So be careful what you change the settings.

  • Remove the battery for long term industry uses on Qosmio

Hi everyone, I remember reading somewhere that if you use your laptop on the sector for a long time (which I do now), it's a good idea to remove the battery to extend its life when you use it on battery power only.

Is this true and will it void warranty or something like that or break my laptop?

    Thank you very much

I put t see any reasons why you shouldn't t remove the battery when you want to run Notepad on the main power supply.
I also think that this procedure will increase the performance of the battery life for a longer period.

The guarantee must be valid. Please see also the drums section in the user manual.
There you will find plenty of information and how to manage the battery

  • Need to know the features of the Modem/routers San

NETGEAR has modem/wifi router which can also act as a Repeater?

It is not quite unique, but it is one of a few routers Netgear who chose to work on the development community open source. There is work underway with the R8000, but is not as far along. The R7000 was long enough that the firmware gone 3 is relatively stable.

WARNING: There is always some risk involved with the installation of 3rd party firmware, including the risk of bricking your router and void warranty. Carefully follow the installation instructions.

  • T420: cancelled multi touch screen option?

    Hello

I already asked in the German forums on T420 (s) and multi touch screen.

I had my hopes up when I saw such an option on one side German product, but there is nothing in the expedition of Tabuk and the mods could not find anything either.

The option of multi touch screen was really cancelled with the 420 series?

And with the switch to 16:9, there is probably no option to update/change the parts without voiding warranty using T400/410 parts?

    See you soon,.

    Peter

There is no multitouch option in T420 and T420s.
