  Thank you buddy. I downloaded the latest audio drivers for Windows 7 and it works fine now.

  Do you hear other sounds (i.e. is your volume muted or denied)?

  Assuming that you can hear other sounds...

  Start > Control Panel > sounds and Audio devices > sounds tab

  Do scroll the box titled "program events".

  Every event that has a sound associated with it has a "speaker" icon.  If you click on the event, the 'Sounds' box is populated with the name of the file, and you can click on the > button to play the sound.

  The "Starting Windows" event should be associated with "Windows XP démarrage.wav".  If it does not appear in the sounds box, click the Browse button.  All standard Windows sounds are *. WAV files and are located in the C:\Windows\Media

  There may be a menu 'Options' or 'Preferences' in your Scrabble game where you can specify if the sounds should be played.  If this is not the case, there was also a section on the sounds tab described above for the sounds of Scrabble.  The WAV file so that the sound is probably located in the directory where the executable file of Scrabble (for example, C:\Program Files\Scrabble) or a subdirectory of this directory.

  I am running Windows 7 with I think it's Internet Explorer 8.

  I had my IE under Mixer volume muted during last week and discovered he won't play no sound now when I disabled the program. For all purposes, the volume mixer shows that it play a sound. All my other programs play sound, system sounds are correct, just like the games.

  After reviewing the responses to other messages here, that's what I tried without success.

  Volume mixer IE is not set to mute, nor is another program.

  Checked under the tools/advanced/multimedia, and ensured that the audio check box was selected: it is.

  I run cmd.exe under administrator rights and put in the sfc/scannow

  This can 100% complete and it 'not found any breach of integrity.

  I tried to run IE with no Add-ons - however, I could not find a program that would make it sound.

  My antivirus has completed a quick scan with no self-esteem.

  I'm still running my antivirus as a full sweep, however, I'm hesitant... to wait until it yeilds it is result.

  Method 1:

  Maybe you don't have the right plugins/addons installed to play sounds. Need of plugins for interactive media include generally:

  (a) Adobe Flash.

  b)      Java.

  To install these plugins, open Internet Explorer and visit the links above. Follow the instructions on the pages listed. After installing these plugins and restart Internet Explorer and check to see if you hear the sound?

  Method 2:

  I suggest you update the audio drivers on the manufacturer's Web site see the link below:

• My volume is stuck on mute

  It's happened several times, but I could always fix simply by rebooting my mac. Now, whenever I try to restart, it does nothing. My volume is stuck on mute.   Until recently, videos YouTube played to whatever the last book that I had. Videos from YouTube (site / embedded) begin with Muted. I can increase the volume in the drive, but the videos start with muted.

  Have you checked the volume mixer; reinstalled Flash; system reboot; Firefox restarted with the new profile, disabled modules and allowed the cookies/cache.

• Portege A600 Webcam software crashes when changing the settings with the sound muted

  I have a problem with XP Toshiba factory build for Portege A600 and Portege R600.
  If you try to change the sound properties of the Webcam using the Camera Assistant Software with the sound muted, the camera wizard app will hang & Windows fails to shut down or even stop. The only way to stop is pressed the power button until the machine stops.

  So far, the only solution I can come to is to increase the volume to zero rather than using the mute box. The problem is if you forget and mute rather than turning down and then try to change the sound properties, its "game over." In addition, it is not really satisfactory because politics is to keep the machines muted until the sound is required.

  This does not happen with the Vista Build, build it only XP.

  My guess is that this will not happen on any machine using the Chicony Webcam & software with the Realtek HD audio but I have not tried on machines enough yet to be sure. So far, I've recreated on two A600s and a R600. The machines are not defective and you can create the problem, "straight out of the box. Just do the following:
  (1) use the provided Toshiba product recovery DVD for restore factory Toshiba Windows XP SP2 version
  (2) once you have done the whole stuff, mute
  (3) open the Camera Assistant Software application & to select Properties
  4) click the audio settings tab

  That of all, suspended. The Camera Assistant Software version is 1.7.209.0807L which seems to be the last being available for download on the websites of Toshiba.

  I n t have a Portege but U400 with pre-installed and integrated webcam Win XP.
  I installed a clean Win XP and then upgraded the XP to the last State and installed all the drivers available from the Toshiba page and possible.

  I followed the steps in your message and I have to say that I didn t notice strange questions, software webcam still works correctly

  I put t know what could be the problem, but I recommend that you check the audio driver to update maybe you can use the Realtek page
  Also, check if the BIOS has been updated to the current state and if your Windows XP is up to date.

  I have a problem with the touch buttons on my U500. I have already returned the first laptop that I bought for the Exchange.

  I m wondering how you use the function keys.
  As far as I know you can use the function keys in the traditional two keys FN key combinations, or you can press only F (F1 - F9).
  This option can be changed in the BIOS (-> Advanced tab of the system configuration) or in the HWSetup utility.

  To solve the problems of WiFi:
  I recommend you update the WLan driver first.
  Then, you can add a new WLan profile. This can be done in the Panel (switch to the display of the icon)-> Network & Sharing Center. On the left, you will see that the option called manage wireless networks. Until it clicks. Now, you could add and configure the new Wlan

  Regarding sound problems:

  Hmm very strange and to be honest, I think that you have disabled something accidentally in the sound properties.

  However, first of all, you must check if the sound card driver has been installed correctly in Device Manager. Usually you shouldn't t see yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager.
  So, if there is no yellow exclamation point then everything has been installed correctly and the question must relate to the wrong audio settings.

  I put t know what OS you are using but the generally volume properties lie in the-> sound and audio devices Control Panel.
  I recommend that you check the volume if necessary and unique controls it the highest value.

  By the way; did you check if you can hear the sound through the headset?
  Check too!

• Setting sound volume for USB speakers

  I have Dell AC511 USB speakers attached to the Mac Mini.  When using these speakers, slices of level default volume using volume up/down on the keyboard go straight from muted way too loud for the rest room in the evening by pressing volume up only once.  Is there a way to make slices when you press volume up/down key on the keyboard be more specific?  Using the mouse to adjust the volume (using volume in the menu bar icon or by using the volume slider in the control panel) offers much more granularity.  I would like to have these more granular increases when you use keyboard volume keys down too.

  Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion Notebook dv9260nr and volume buttons does not.  Here's a solution.
  Try to open Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, then clicking Manager.In Device Device Manager, look for the network adapter, and then double-click the device name. Click on the driver tab, then click on set to update driver. Reboot the laptop.
