Volume type

Can you change a type of volume after a volume is created, or you have to do during the creation process? I select advance when you create the volume and am not see it.

Hello company_san,

A volume is dynamic, until at least a replay was taken from this volume.  After a replay was taken from a volume, it becomes active Replay. A volume of replication is one that is being replicated to another storage Center.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello

Maybe someone here would be able to shed some light on my problem.

I have a "Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB" drive which has been used sparingly in recent years for saving digital images. A few days ago I tried to use it, and when it is plugged into the FW800 it gave me the error after some clicking and buzzing, "Mac OS X cannot repair the disk" - (looks a lot like a broken record) with the exception of the following (see below for "terminal" output):

    1. in executing the command 'df' disk appears and shows a use of 72% (/ dev/disk6s2)

    2. the 'fsck' command cannot repair the volume

    3. tried both commands the 'cp' and 'tar' but the operating system does not rise the volume, so invisible at the same time

Maybe someone could point me to a solution in order to unload the data. Thank you - George.

    If the drive is installed

    Try a drive recovery application:

You may be able to download a demo of Data Rescue 4, and the demo will give you an idea of what it can recover. If it looks promising, you can then purchase the software.

  • "Please insert a disc into drive I" error message problem. Help, please!

I get the error message "Please insert a disc in the drive I" when I try to attach a drive external hard (in a case of hard disk) via a USB 2.0 to my Dell Dimension 8400 computer. I am running Windows XP Prorfessional.

When I attach an external hard drive that comes with its own enclosure as a Western Digital MyBook via the same cable USB 2.0 the following happens. Windows Explorer shows the new disks I and J. If I try to open the drive I have, I get the "Please insert a disc into drive I"message.» However, when I try to open the drive J I'm able to do it and see the files, in this case, the Western Digital MyBook. I can also open these files.

I searched the Internet for solutions to this problem. In some cases, the problem can be solved by renaming the drive letter, but this does not work in my case. Most of the sites I visited fail to provide a solution. Very many missions I've read on various sites, the problem seems to be related to error messages has Microsoft Windows. The solution would seem to have to disable this / these messages by changing the relevant parts of the registry. (See: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/logonuiexe-no-disk-there-is-no-disk-in-the-drive/7a158e14-6a56-4bfd-b1b5-796c3ccea3b0?page=2&tm=1341781513552, http://www.w7forums.com/please-insert-disc-into-drive-error-t11264p2.html, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281345)

Unfortunately, the information that I found are too vague and contradictory to me. Microsoft seems to suggest changing the value of ErrorMode in CurrentControlSet so that the user gets more no error message 'hard' (modification of the: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\ErrorMode value = 2). However, this suggestion for the backup of SQL Server databases. It also seems a bit drastic to turn off hardware error messages. In another post the suggestion is to delete upper and lower filters in the section of the registry that controls the hard drive. The problem here is that you may have to reload the software. Also, I'm afraid I'll mess up the registry.

I would be grateful to anyone who could tell me what parts of the need to register to edit and how to disable this message ' Please insert a disc in the drive I have. "

I suspect that the boxes of hard drive that does not open professional XP are somehow corrupt. • How can I repair hard drive partitions?

I have an external hard drive for backups formatted with Windows XP that I use now with my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. Recently, my son plugged into his Apple PC and tried to create a partition to back up its files. Apparently this corrupted the table to partition. I can get is all data on the hard drive.

I looked at the drive by using:

    1 Windows 7 disk management

    2. Acronis Disk Director 11

    3. EASEUS Partition Recovery (last version)

    4 partition Wizard 5.2

Neither of them could do anything except delete or format partitions.

The partitions on my external hard drive are still there, but Acronis Disk Director shows the following information:

Local 619,9 MB GB 130.1 basic GPT volume not supported in health

Is anyway to repair the partition table and possibly access data?

I decided to give up and just clean the disk and re - format.  Thanks for your efforts to help.

Before any thing let double check that you're not missreading disk management, disconnect your external drive and all other devices, re-booting, it starts?

    If it isn't

    Disconect all the external devices

    (1) if its a dvd win7 real victory dvd insert & re-booting, it starts from the dvd victory, early in the process if it detects remove them all partitions, then continue the installation using all the free space.

Then connect to the internet and allow windows updates important to do its thing, it may require several reboots and update runs.

Install your anti virus program, if a PC brand visit the site PC manufacturers and install drivers specific to win7 for your model, if a generic desktop computer, motherboard manufacturers site for their drivers.

Check the basic operation of the PC before going any further, if all OK just reinstall your media origonal programs.

If still OK connect the external drive and simply copies the data in different places of the library on the ssd.

    ---------------------

    (2) if it is a game of manufacturers PC recovery discs insert the cd & re - start, depending on what options that don't give CD a destructive restore (clean install)

After completion do not install anything, unless you use a disc of recovery of PC manufacturers and theres a separate utilities/drivers If yes drive use.

Then in management records check which is shown for drive 0 if it shows the space unallocated to the rt, C C: rt-click and select Extend Volume > type following in the unallocated total shown Mo > next > finish

Then connect to internet for the important updates to do its thing, then proceed as indicated in (1) except for the drivers

  • ESXi 6.0 network connectivity problem

    Hi all

Having a strange problem here. In a nutshell, I have a certain environment and reconfigure the vNIC on the hosts. They are all part of a suite of UCS, and I took the model of service profile pre-existing, a clone and network cards accordingly. For the vmnic structure properly in vCenter, I removed the DvSwitches hosts, have abandoned their vCenter and reset the configuration of the system and reconfigure before adding it in. So far, this has worked well for four of my hosts; profile seems very good, pings, and VMS are rustling. And then there's this guy - I did the same steps as before, but after the reconfiguration of the host, I can't get the Miller of ping (and ofc add in vCenter). I've tried everything! I am 100% certain that I have correct management cards selected and the configuration of the network is the same as before. I restarted the management network, rebooted the host, tried a NIC management both (have two for grouping), a restoration of network (settings), applied to the OLD service profile and reconfigured, put another host in maint off/mode and used HIS network configs, ESXi reinstalled on the host... to nothing done (also, confirmed with nslookup DNS records are there and correct). For me, it looks like a physical on the server NETWORK card of the blade or chassis interface is defective, but here's the curveball - when I run a constant ping on the host and restart the management network, the host will ping successfully or twice in what seems to be the time between the management network stop and restart then. In addition, when you run the network management test, the bridge and the two DCs fail but resolves the host name. Any ideas so I can get this thing into production?

    Thank you very much

    Grant

Thanks for your replies. I've tried scouring the file vmkernel.log for the answers or directions for why management cards did not exist, but I couldn't find something concrete... Besides, I wasn't totally sure of what I was looking for. In addition, I first tried to re - recognize the blade, and then completely took me out of the blade and re-discovered, both without success. However, I was finally able to resolve the problem by resetting the MAC addresses on two management adapters. I found this, in a roundabout way, by creating a clone of the service profile, adding a third management NIC when you configure in ESXi, with all three selected allowed the host to ping... so try a NETWORK adapter at the same time, an adapter failed every time, one was sporadic and the third (new) adapter ping successfully every time. So, as I said I've linked the old model (with two cards) to the blade profile, reset the MAC addresses and addresses the two worked. Now the question emerges as to why addresses MAC of THOSE wouldn't work. I checked that they were not attached to the standard/distributed switch ports... I'm just afraid that on the road if a new blade pulls MACs, if they're going to be "orphaned" somewhere on the network and cause more problems. Within the SSH ESXi, I did a ' find/vmfs/volumes-type f - iname "*.vmx" - exec grep-im1 'MY_MAC' {}; -printing and listed on pretty .vmx file many each VM in the cluster with a mistake, 'device or resource busy.' You are not sure if somewhere the old Mac am fixed inside the master image (it's a VDI environment) and spread during a restructuring or what? Any ideas would be helpful, but in the end, the problem is solved [for now]...

    Thanks again,

    Grant

  • Get the device UID (naa) in the data store

    Hello

I want to get the UID (naa) device from a data store (VcHostDatastoreSystem).

But I don't seem to find it.

        for each (var path in lun.path) {

  • Get the scsi for a data store information if the data store is known

    Hello

I'm looking for a way to get the information of scsci for a data store if the name of the data store is known. In perl/powershell, this is not a big problem, but how to do this using the Orchestrator. It seems that some information is not available/accessible in vCO, as information volume.extent (object VcHostFileSystemVolume).

No idea on how to do the same with the Orchestrator.

    Concerning

    Hello

Onyx would not help in this case. After thinking a bit, I found the solution. I looks like:

for each {(var Mon in wfHostObject.configManager.storageSystem.storageDeviceInfo.multipathInfo.lun)

    System.Debug ("number of paths:" + lun.path.length);

for each {(var path in lun.path)

for each {(measure of var in mount.volume.extent)

    var tmp = extent.diskName.split(/\./);

    var regExp = new RegExp(tmp[1],'gi');

    If (lun.id.match (regExp)) {}

    System.Debug ("mount.type:" + mount.volume.type);

As the topic title says, the volume on my A300-16I wheel works as expected, the increase and decrease of the volume with side effect, irritating and unusual type the letter 'c' while turning.

It's quite embarrassing because most media players have a function attributed to this key and it is now triggered whenever I change the volume. It happens very regularly (which leads me to suspect that it is not associated with driver/software), but more than enough to be a nuisance.
Winamp is suspended, GOM player accelerates videos and my emails get c interspersed in them.

Does anyone know how and why this happens and how it can be fixed?

    > After quickly turn the wheel back and forth for a few seconds the letter 'c' stopped appearing in Notepad (while the notebook was of course) and it is not yet arrived since then

Thanks for this info! Maybe something assigned to the use of the volume knob but it s great to hear everything is working again.

CHKDSK is checking security descriptors (stage 3 of 3)...

    100%

    CHKDSK checks usn Journal...

    Windows control disc is finished.

After all checks, Windows proceed to start as usual.

I would like to know if I need the dirty Volume, and if so, how can I carry out the cleaning operation.

Sometimes, at the early stage of the CHKDSK, the computer makes a pe. .. PE... noise and cut.  Then I turn the computer off via the key of the insulation. When I restart the computer, it then runs the check again until the end.

Please advice me on the following points:

1 is this normal as he started only happening in recent weeks?

    2. How can clean the Volume in order to show "Volume is clean instead of sale"

I look forward to hear from you.

    Thank you

    Hi, Dr.,

Volumes that contain file system errors are known as Sales. To indicate that a file system problem has occurred and that the volume is dirty, Windows XP Professional displays a message similar to the following when you try to open, delete, or rename a file or folder by using Microsoft Windows Explorer or the command prompt:

Autochk runs if the volume is marked as modified.

If the file system has marked the volume as dirty, Autochk runs the Startup Repair process. Volumes are marked as dirty, when the file system detects an error on the volume. If Autochk detects a dirty volume, it provides a delay of 10 seconds, and then starts the repair process. If you cancel Autochk when a volume is dirty, Autochk tries to run again after a 10 second delay every time the computer is restarted.

See Chkdsk for all the necessary explanations:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457122.aspx

Run the Dell Diagnostics to check the drive failure.  If the disc is a failure, it must be replaced.

  • chkdisk-type of file system is NTFS, the volume is dirty, what it means

When I turn on my computer, I see the following: file system to check on C: the type of the file system is NTFS, the volume is dirty.  What does that mean?

A volume can be marked as dirty, if the system underwent a power interruption (power failure, pulling plug, removing the battery, button / stop), abandoned restart or an abnormal termination.  One of these events?

When XP starts, it automatically checks the bit of impurity on each volume.  You can also tell XP to ignore the bit of impurity on any volume, but this probably isn't a good idea in case there is a real problem that needs to be fixed.  If you have a hard drive where the dirty bit will not be deleted, you could tell XP to check everything just do not.

If the starting XP detects the volume is dirty, it will automatically run the disk with error correction (chkdsk/p) check and try to fix the problems detected.

You can check the status of your bit of impurity from a command prompt window.

To do this, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

For example, to query the bit of impurity on drive C, type:

    fsutil dirty query C:

    The sample output:
    Volume c is dirty
    Volume C: is dirty

You cannot use fsutil or chkntfs from a command prompt to delete the bit of impurity on a volume.

This does not mean that a disk check is scheduled to run, and you can't cancel what needs to happen in this case because this isn't the problem.

You also won't solve this problem by editing your registry database - not where is the problem.

Once a volume is marked as dirty, the only way to clear the dirty bit is to run "chkdsk/r" or "chkdsk/p" when the volume is not in use.  The only way a volume can not be used while XP is just starting to load or from the XP Recovery Console.

If XP will not run chkdsk correctly when your system restarts or the dirty bit will not erase as it should, you need to look in the Event Viewer log chkdsk and see what is happening and fix it.

If XP will not always clear the dirty bit, you need to run chkdsk/r of the XP Recovery Console so you can look and see what works and run it again until it works.  If your hard drive fails, you may never be able to clear the dirty bit, in this case, you can also say XP never check the afflicted volume dirty bit.

Saying XP not to check the bit of impurity on a volume would be risky behavior because there would always be some kind of problem with your hard drive.

When chkdsk runs automatically restart either because XP thinks he needs to (perhaps your NTFS volume has been marked as dirty) or you have chosen to do the chkdsk command yourself, the results appear in the viewing Application event log.  You should look there for the chkdsk log to see what happened and no problems after running chkdsk.

To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

Search the Application log for an event originally by Winlogon, something like:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Winlogon
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1001
    Date: 04/08/2010
    Time: 11:25:57
    Description:
    Checking file system on C:

The type of the file system is NTFS.

One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You
may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended
    that you continue.

Windows will now check the disk.

Please wait while your computer restarts.

The dirty bit fade not until chkdsk /r (or chkdsk/p) tracks clean when the system reboots (as in the example) or when you run chkdsk /r from the XP Recovery Console.

If for some reason chkdsk will not erase the dirty, you say XP never check the bit of impurity of a player, but that will not set your fault of potentially hard drive, or he could be the player just needs have chkdsk to run on it for some other recoverable error condition.

A simple power interruption is something that could result in a disc was marked as dirty.

The event log is where you need to look to see what to do about it.

  • Windows 7: what are the individual "file system type" files in the system volume information folder?

Original title: Windows 7: what are the individual "file system type" files in the folder system volume information accumulating [not the files system restore I already know and don't use yet]

    Hi-

I stopped using the system restore, I found a better solution, for me, that's what I have to do.
Then I noticed that several 'file system' 'type' was being created, 12 times yesterday, 3 up to today in the early hours of the morning and stored in they System Volume Information folder, anywhere from 30 MB to 2 GB.
three of these file names 'file system' 'type' are:
    {debb21da-eafc-11e2-ba92-00241dc5d84e} {3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}
    {3debe675-eaa7-11e2-a462-00241dc5d84e} {3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}

Anyone know what it could be?
Can I follow up to what program/process they are related?
    Are they safe to delete?
    Ideas?  Suggestions?
    Thank you.
    John

    Hi John,.

Yes, you can delete the system volume information data if not to use the system restore.

You will need to give permission to the folder until you delete it.

How to open a file if I get an access denied message?

Please post with the State of the question.
