VPN site to Site - ASA to PIX - same subnet on the inside
Chaps,
I have a unusual scenario, whereby case I need a tunnel vpn site-to-site between a pix of cisco version 7 and version 8 cisco asa, which have the same subnet ip to each endpoint. Is it possible to create such a tunnel from site to site or do I change one of the remote endpoints?

Hi Nicolas,.
To allow the traffic through the tunnel when having the same at both ends addressing scheme, you should NAT VPN traffic.
That is to say.
Site a 10.1.1.0/24 LAN
Site B LAN 10.1.1.0/24
The site config:
NAT permit list to access ip 10.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
(in, out) static 192.168.1.0 access-list NAT

The switch that is connected to the server port is trunking. My question is, can devices on the same subnet as the management network? If so, how do access you? Your portgroup for CUP7 is set to VLAN 1, while your progroup vmkernel port has no encapsulation VLAN defined. Just change the portgroup to CUP7 to have no value in the box VLAN (its under settings for the portgroup).

If you haven't already done so, you must clear the SAs Phase I on both sides after you make a change to the map. Once the Phase I SA has been cleared, he renegotiate and reset Phase II. If you alerady made this, the only other thing I can think is manually re-enter the secrets disclosed in advance on tunnel groups then erase both the Phase I and Phase II SAs.

Hello Vijay,
As you say you can use another, that is right, but the thing is that the IP address of management is not only used to draw management.
Who was you are missing the point.
That the IP address assigned to the ASA as a whole also will be used for ARP requests when the ASA does not know where the destination hosts lies and is not on the same subnet as the ASA.
It will serve as a source for packages destined to a syslog server, server AAA, Netflow server, SNMP server, and any package that ASA will have to create so in that spirit the routing of the network will have to be modified to work with that.
If you come to realize that the routing of the network works with a different management on the transparent address IP address then you can do it. I can assure you that I have seen this scenario before working with no problems at all BUD.

My HP Compaq Presario C700 VISTA laptop (a AR5007 802. 11 b / g WiFi adapter) and the printer are on the same subnet. The laptop is WiFi connected to my WRT54G2 router/switch and the printer is connected to the workgroup switch that connects to the router via the LinkSys WET11 Wireless Bridge.
The installer works fine for over a year until he was there when my VISTA does not see any PC on the Working Group 3 weeks pass including the printer. However, the WAN access is not affected.
I did the filming of following problems (in order):
1. check the network settings on the laptop VISTA (x.x.x.29) and (x.x.x.201) printer and all look kosher. (All my PC including notebook computer and printer have IP STATIC)
2. check the router and the parameters of bridge and fines all eyes (router - XXX1, bridge - x.x.x.140).
3 Ping printer, bridge, and other PC and received messages "Destination Unreachable Host" or "Request timed out". Although all are on the same subnet. Pingée router is OK.
4 remove and re-add the wireless profile and tried to connect again. Same problem, no joy!
5 started VISTA in safe MODE with NETWORK. Once again, the problem has persisted but at least eliminated applications as a potential source of problems.
6. recycled power switch/router/workgroup bridge. No joy!
7 WiFi connected other laptops to the same router (WRT54G2) and can ping other PC and printer END. This means that the problem is limited to my VISTA laptop.
8 given that the problem is on my VISTA and applications are not the source (see #5) of the problem, then probably the AR5007 802.11b.g wireless network card driver is original so I downloaded driver at HP and installed with version 7.3.201.25. Problem is persistent... Arhhh!
Could there be something else that I missed? Can someone please help.

Yes this driver will work fine on Vista Home Premium.
According to the notes on the driver, it can just be run without uninstalling the current pilot you have on there now.
After executing, you can confirm it 'takes' by going into Device Manager, expand network adapters, click the atheros wireless card, click the driver tab and you should see the installed version 2011.

I need to configure my little guy with ip static on the same subnet on the side of the router/internet and the side room, but it does not.
I will allow me to dhcp on the side of the router/internet and then statically assign an ip address from the same subnet on the local side, but then it does not pass on my dhcp server dhcp queries.

Yes. Configure the WRT with a LAN inside your main LAN IP address. Disable the DHCP server on the WRT. Wire then a main WRT to your local area network LAN port. Do not use the internet port on the WRT.

Several VPN site to site on the same ASA
I need to set up an IPSEC tunnel to allow a provider to the remote site printing to a printer on my network. I intend to use an ASA 5520 to do this. The architecture is fairly simple:
[Remote]-[Remote FW] -
-[FW Local]-[Local routing]-[printer] The downside is that there is finally more than a seller who needs to do. Each will have a different destination but mena there will be more than a VPN to ASA at my end. It seems that the ASA 5520 can be supported more than a VPN site to site, but I need to assign an IP address for different endpoint in each tunnel?
I searched and found no a design guide for the VPN site - to-many. If so, I'd appreciate a pointer.

You can do several tunnels VPN site to site. As a general rule, you would have a card encryption applied to the interface in the face of internet. Each crypto map entry has a sequence number. You simply have to create all the necessary configurations (tunnel-group for the remote peer IP, ACL to set interesting traffic, etc.) and increment the entry card crypto.

The local PIX ip access to hosts on the VPN site
I have a vpn connection from site to site with ASA 5510 PIX 515 which works very well. There is no problem for hosts on any side of the tunnel access to a cross. However the IP local (192.168.20.1) on the interface client of my PIX is not allowed access to guests across the tunnel.

You plan to connect to the firewall with address 192.168.20.1 for management purposes or why the IP should be able to generate connections to connect VPN L2L?
By default, the 'packet - trace' will fail if you are using a firewall interface IP address as the source address of the command. This result is always the same. (Although I have not tried the packet - trace with the below mentioned command enabled)
If you want to access the IP 192.168.20.1 interface via the L2L VPN on the other side, then you will have to configure
customer management-access

Cisco ASA 5505 VPN Site to Site
Hi all
First post on the forums. I have worked with Cisco ASA 5505 for a few months and I recently bought a 2nd ASA to implement tunnel VPN Site to Site. It seems so simple in the number of videos watched on the internet. But when I did he surprise it did work for me... I've removed the tunnels, a number of times and tried to recreate. I use the VPN Wizard in the SMA to create the tunnel. Both the asa 5505 of are and have the same firmware even etc..

There are some clear problems I see on a quick glance. These are not related to the actual VPN configuration but rather the NAT configurations.
All your configuration of NAT CLI format above are configured as manual NAT / double NAT in Section 1. This means that the appliance NAT configurations have been added to the same section of the NAT configurations and scheduling of the NAT inside this Section rules is the cause of the problem for the L2L VPN connection for some.
Here are a few suggestions on what to change

Finally, we remove the old rule that generated the ASDM. It would do the same thing if it has been moved to the top, but I generally find the creation of the 'object' with descriptive names easier on the eyes in the long term.
Other suggestions
These changes are not necessary with regard to the VPN L2L. Here are some suggestions how to clean a part of NAT configurations.

Contains the command "nat" "car after" because it moving this "nat" configuration to the bottom of the NAT rules. For this reason its less likely to cause problems in the future.

The above configuration is supposed to create a NAT0 configuration for traffic between the network and the pool of Client VPN server. To my knowledge the old configuration that remove us is not used because the traffic would have matched PAT rule dynamic server yet rather than this rule which is later in the NAT configurations and would not be addressed.

The above configuration is supposed to do the same thing with the other ASA. Although given that this network contains only a single subnet it cleans the "nat" configurations exist that much. But the order of the "nat" configurations is changed to avoid further problems with the NAT order.

It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.
I suggest trying the changes related to VPN L2L first NAT0 configurations and test traffic. So who gets the work of connectivity, then you could consider changing other NAT configurations. There are other things that could be changed also in what concerns THAT static NAT servers but that probably better left for another time.

Yor are right, in this case you can create a tunnel vpn site-to-site between devices or you can configure your ASA as hardware VPN client. That is to say; Easy VPN.

Let me answer your question in two points:
- You cannot ping an ASA on another interface other than the one where you are connected to the ASA of.
For example, ASA1 and ASA2 are connected through their interfaces 'outside '. ASA1 (or any other device on the external interface) can not ping/access ASA2 on his (ASA2) within the interface. The only time wherever this can be substituted is a tunnel VPN with the command "access management" configured for other interface, for example management-access inside
- Traffic ASA1 ping to a remote client behind ASA2 won't over the VPN tunnel and as such is not encrypted. That's because ASA1 will forward traffic based on its routing table that probably this way through its 'outside' interface Except that traffic is allowed with the ASA2 (using the ACL), it will fail.
We can do on the routers of sourcing our ping to another interface, but it will not work on the SAA.

I have a specialized applications casino that requires end-to-end encryption. I'm under the stack of Microsoft IPSec l2tp between my XP machine and my Windows 2003 server on the LAN. Yes, the L2TP can be encapsulated in IPSEC as all other traffic.
However, make sure that no NAT is performed on each end. L2TP is a default header protection which will see NAT as a falsification of package and reject it.

Can VPN site-to-site with just 1 static IP address in PIX?

Can I use pix for VPN with just 1 static IP address as follows:
LAN-A---PIX1---INTERNET---PIX2---LAN-B
Just PIX1 has static IP, PIX2 use DHCP from ISP. I have the config this type of VPN with another brand equipment. But the use of PIX, I just VPN config with both ends have a static IP and I can't find any information in the web site. Because when config VPN site-to-site I have to use the command 'same game '.
Can someone tell me how can I do with PIX? Thank you!

You just need to set up a dynamic encryption on PIX 1 card and a card standard encryption with a peer 'set' on 2 PIX. Here is an example configuration:

Note that it also has VPN connection clients in 1 PIX (Lion), so forget all orders of "vpngroup" that you see in his configuration cause, they are not necessary for your scenario.

Currently, I have one of the interfaces on the configured 5510 to a VLAN for our wifi. Another interface is configured for our backup ISP. The installation works fantastic. When I run the wizard from site to site vpn according to this video "https://supportforums.cisco.com/videos/5933" but I'm confused with a couple of parameters.
Activate nat exempt? Can I do this on both devices or just one and if so who?
Do I need to configure static routes to access these different subnets?
There is a router involved, but it is for the ISP. There value transmit all packets intended for installation remotely for 5510 2 subnets. Thus, packages do get sent but seem to die once they hit the 5510.

Okay, so here should be the changes you need.
What we essentially on two of the units, it is remove some configurations which are not necessary or are wrong.
ASA could give some notifications of deleting a "crypto map" command but you need not worry about this. He complains probably input incomplete "crypto map" or something in that direction.
Seems to me that the ACL of VPN L2L is wrong on both units and also the NAT. The ASA5510 also seems to have a double for the same VPN L2L configuration that I suggest to remove below.
