VPN site to Site if a distance ASA has a dynamic IP address outside

Hello

I always try to find the right commands for dynamic VPN to VPN from Site to Site.

I found something on the set by the peers command, but is exactly what I want to do?

Static IP on both ASA (asa5505 and asa5510):

peer set card crypto outside_map 1 192.168.178.230<== that="" ist="" for="" a="" static="" if="" i="" know="" the="">

A (asa5510) static and dynamic (asa5505) IP:

by default dynamic value of the card crypto-outside_map 1-set peer asa5505<== is="" that="" the="" right="" set="">

If the ASA remote called asa5505 and he has a dynamic IP address?

Kind regards

Hans-Jürgen Guenter

Yes, you need not the 3 lines above in the configuration. Those who are kept on the static end to accept the connection from the dynamic counterpart.

You need not order 'set by the peers' you don't have a static ip address for the dynamics of the end.

  • Microsoft l2tp IPSec VPN site to site ASA on top

I have a specialized applications casino that requires end-to-end encryption. I'm under the stack of Microsoft IPSec l2tp between my XP machine and my Windows 2003 server on the LAN. Can I use the same type of protocol stack Microsoft l2tp IPSec between my XP machine and the Windows Server 2003 a branch on the SAA to site to site ASA VPN tunnel? The VPN site-to site ASA is a type of key Preshare IPSec VPN tunnelle traffic between our head office and a branch in distance.

In other words, the ASA site-to-site IPSec VPN will allow Microsoft l2tp through IPSec encrypted traffic? My ACL tunnel would allow full IP access between site. Something like:

    name 192.168.100.0 TexasSubnet

    name 192.168.200.0 RenoSubnet

    IP TexasSubnet 255.255.255.0 RenoSubnet 255.255.255.0 allow Access-list extended nat_zero

    Hello

Yes, the L2TP can be encapsulated in IPSEC as all other traffic.

However, make sure that no NAT is performed on each end. L2TP is a default header protection which will see NAT as a falsification of package and reject it.

    See you soon,.

  • Site to Site and together on ASA 5505 VPN remote access

    Hello

I tried to set up a VPN Site again on an ASA5505 where there already is a VPN remote on it.

After you add the new configuration lines, I received the following message when I debug:

    04 Nov 07:06:06 [IKEv1]: group = , IP = , error QM WSF (P2 struct & 0xd91a4d10, mess id 0xeac05ec0).

04 Nov 07:04:36 [IKEv1]: group = , IP = , peer of drop table Correlator has failed, no match!

Someone knows what's the problem? And what to change in the config?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ruben

    Hello

If the ASA had a remote access VPN and you add a new Site-to-Site you must make sure that the priority for the card encryption is weaker for the new Site-to - added Site. This is because otherwise traffic will always try to match the access tunnel at distance. You can check it with the command "sh run card cry"

    Hello everyone

First of all I must say that I have configured the VPN site-to site a million times before.  Stuck with it. First of all I can't ping outside the interface of my ASA remote. Secondly, VPN is in place, but no connectivity between local networks

Still, I can't ping ASA remote outside from outside of the Local interface. And there is no connectivity between the 192.168.80.0 distance and local don't say 192.168.1.0. I have run out of ideas

Would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance...

If the tunnel is up (phase 1), but no traffic passing the best test is the following:

Add order management-access to the Interior , and then try to PING the intellectual property inside ASA counterpart.

inside x.x.x.x ping --> x.x.x.x is the IP of the ASA peer inside

The test above shows if the traffic passes through the tunnel (check encrypted/decrypted packets of sh cry ips its).

    Test on both directions.

    Please post the results.

    Federico.

  • Site to site VPN - impossible to reach the other side ASA

    Hello

Recently, I replaced a Juniper with a Cisco ASA 5505 firewall in a branch. This branch has a VPN site to another seat. Firewall at Headquarters is a Juniper and managed by third parties. I have configured the ASA and replaced Juniper. Everything at the Branch works, and can reach all subnets and servers. As the user is concerned, there is no problem.

But corporate headquarters, I am unable to reach this ASA on the interface of data or management. See the image, I am unable to ping or join a network 192.168.10.0 and 192.168.200.0 or any other subnet 10.15.8.0 to Headquarters. However, I can ping computers from branch office which is in the same subnet as the data interface.

You guys could help me as I need to reach the ASA headquarters branch. I welcome all networks on both sides inside and the external interface. I also created a NAT as below. Am I wrong configured NAT

NAT (inside, outside) static source DM_INLINE_NETWORK_4 DM_INLINE_NETWORK_4 HO_Subnets HO_Subnets non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
    !
NAT Dynamics obj_any interface of source to auto after (indoor, outdoor)

    DIWA

This information is useful. You try to SSH to the address inside or management? May I suggest that we focus for now on access to inside? After we get this working, we can watch access via the management.

It does not appear in what you posted, but I'm not sure if it might be something that you have removed before posting. Do you have configured access to the administration? If this is not the case, may I suggest that you add access management inside the config.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 VPN Site to Site

    Hi all

First post on the forums. I have worked with Cisco ASA 5505 for a few months and I recently bought a 2nd ASA to implement tunnel VPN Site to Site. It seems so simple in the number of videos watched on the internet. But when I did he surprise it did work for me... I've removed the tunnels, a number of times and tried to recreate. I use the VPN Wizard in the SMA to create the tunnel. Both the asa 5505 of are and have the same firmware even etc..

I'd appreciate any help that can be directed to this problem please.  Slowly losing my mind

    Hello

There are some clear problems I see on a quick glance. These are not related to the actual VPN configuration but rather the NAT configurations.

All your configuration of NAT CLI format above are configured as manual NAT / double NAT in Section 1. This means that the appliance NAT configurations have been added to the same section of the NAT configurations and scheduling of the NAT inside this Section rules is the cause of the problem for the L2L VPN connection for some.

Here are a few suggestions on what to change

    ASA1

    Minimal changes

the object of the LAN network

    192.168.10.0 subnet 255.255.255.0

    being REMOTE-LAN network

    255.255.255.0 subnet 192.168.100.0

NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination REMOTE - LAN LAN

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

That means foregoing is first of all create 'object' that contain the local LAN and remote LANs. Then, it creates a NAT0 rule and adds to the top rules NAT. (number 1). It is essentially of at least one of the problems preventing the VPN operation or traffic that cross.

Finally, we remove the old rule that generated the ASDM. It would do the same thing if it has been moved to the top, but I generally find the creation of the 'object' with descriptive names easier on the eyes in the long term.

    Other suggestions

These changes are not necessary with regard to the VPN L2L. Here are some suggestions how to clean a part of NAT configurations.

    PAT-SOURCE network object-group

    source networks internal PAT Description

    object-network 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0

    object-network 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0

    object-network 192.168.40.0 255.255.255.0

NAT interface (it is, outside) the after-service automatic PAT-SOURCE dynamic source

No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface

no nat (wireless, outdoors) source Dynamics one interface

no nat (servers, outside) no matter what source dynamic interface

The above configuration creates a "object-group" that lists all internal networks that you have dynamic PAT configured so far. It then uses the ' object-group ' in a command unique 'nat' to manage the dynamic PAT for all internal networks (with the exception of printers who had nothing at first). Then we remove the old PAT dynamic configurations.

Contains the command "nat" "car after" because it moving this "nat" configuration to the bottom of the NAT rules. For this reason its less likely to cause problems in the future.

    network of the SERVERS object

    subnet 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0

    network of the VPN-POOL object

    192.168.50.0 subnet 255.255.255.0

NAT (servers, external) 2 static static source of destination of SERVERS SERVERS VPN-VPN-POOL

no nat (servers, external) static source NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

The above configuration is supposed to create a NAT0 configuration for traffic between the network and the pool of Client VPN server. To my knowledge the old configuration that remove us is not used because the traffic would have matched PAT rule dynamic server yet rather than this rule which is later in the NAT configurations and would not be addressed.

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.

    ASA2

    Minimal changes

the object of the LAN network

    255.255.255.0 subnet 192.168.100.0

    being REMOTE-LAN network

    192.168.10.0 subnet 255.255.255.0

NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination REMOTE - LAN LAN

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

    Other suggestions

    PAT-SOURCE network object-group

    object-network 192.168.100.0 255.255.255.0

NAT interface (it is, outside) the after-service automatic PAT-SOURCE dynamic source

No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface

The above configuration is supposed to do the same thing with the other ASA. Although given that this network contains only a single subnet it cleans the "nat" configurations exist that much. But the order of the "nat" configurations is changed to avoid further problems with the NAT order.

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.

I suggest trying the changes related to VPN L2L first NAT0 configurations and test traffic. So who gets the work of connectivity, then you could consider changing other NAT configurations. There are other things that could be changed also in what concerns THAT static NAT servers but that probably better left for another time.

Hope this makes any sense and has helped

For IKEv2 configuration: (example config, you can change to encryption, group,...)

-You must add the declaration of exemption nat (see previous answer).

    -set your encryption domain ACLs:

access-list-TRAFFIC IPSEC allowed extended LOCAL REMOTE - LAN LAN ip

    -Set the Phase 1:

    Crypto ikev2 allow outside
    IKEv2 crypto policy 10
    3des encryption
    the sha md5 integrity
    Group 5
    FRP sha
    second life 86400

    -Set the Phase 2:

    Crypto ipsec ikev2 ipsec IKEV2-PROPOSAL
    Esp aes encryption protocol
    Esp integrity sha-1 protocol

    -set the Group of tunnel

    tunnel-group REMOTE-PUBLIC-IP type ipsec-l2l
    REMOTE-PUBLIC-IP tunnel-group ipsec-attributes
    IKEv2 authentication remote pre-shared-key cisco123

    IKEv2 authentication local pre-shared-key cisco123

    -Define the encryption card

address for correspondence CRYPTOMAP 10 - TRAFFIC IPSEC crypto map
card crypto CRYPTOMAP 10 peer set REMOTE-PUBLIC-IP
card crypto CRYPTOMAP 10 set ipsec ikev2-IKEV2-PROPOSAL
    CRYPTOMAP interface card crypto outside
    crypto isakmp identity address

On your config, you have all these commands but on your VPN config, you mix ikev1 and ikev2. You have also defined political different ikev2. Just do a bit of cleaning and reached agreement on a 1 strategy for the two site (encryption, hash,...)

    Thank you

  • VPN site to Site using the router and ASA

    Hello

I have a Cisco 1812 router that is configured for remote access VPN using IPSec (Cisco VPN Client), my question is if I can configure a Cisco ASA 5505 to connect to the router as a VPN from site to site.

    Thank you

    Karl

    Dear Karl,

Yor are right, in this case you can create a tunnel vpn site-to-site between devices or you can configure your ASA as hardware VPN client. That is to say; Easy VPN.

For the same thing, you can consult the document below.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/HW/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a00808a61f4.shtml

    Kind regards

    Shijo.

  • Issue of ASA vpn site to site isakmp

    Hello

He has been asked to configure on ASA a new vpn site-to-site. For that vpn should I put:

    crypto isakmp identity address
    crypto ISAKMP allow outside

.. the configuration of my identity crypto isakmp is automatic and isakmp crypto is not enabled on any interface. I love vpn with ike enabled on the external interface. My question is: why should I enable isakmp on the external interface and especially can create disturbances to ike vpn that are already in place?

By elsewhere-group or tunnel-group strategy, it was me asked to set up, the two do not have indication of ike. Never seen this kind of configuration before vpn, something new.

    Thank you

    Hi, Giuseppe.

The crypto isakmp command activate outside changed ikev1 crypto Enable outside in the new ASA versions you need not enable this.

There is also no need configure isakmp crypto identity address such that it is set to auto.

This command indicates that the tunnel would be negotiated on the basis of the IP address but since it is set to auto it on it own will therefore not need to specify this command.

Yes, you can create a new group policy group for this new tunnel and tunnel and there should be no impact on other tunnels of work.

    Kind regards

    Aditya

  • Cisco ASA VPN Site to Site WITH NAT inside

    Hello!

I have 2 ASA 5505 related to IPSEC Tunnel VPN Site to Site.

A 192.168.1.0/24 'remotely' inside the network and a local "192.168.200.0/24' inside the network (you can see the diagram)

The local host have 192.168.200.254 as default gateway.

I can't add static route to all army and I can't add static route to 192.168.200.254.

NAT the VPN entering as 192.168.200.1 or a 192.168.200.x free to connect my host correcly?

If my host sends packet to exit to the default gateway.

    Thank you for your support

    Best regards

    Marco

The configuration must be applied on the SAA with the 192.168.200.0 subnet it is inside, there must be something like this:

    permit 192.168.1.0 ip access list VPN_NAT 255.255.255.0 192.168.200.0 255.255.255.0

NAT (outside) X VPN_NAT outside access list

Global (inside) X Y.Y.Y.Y (where the Y.Y.Y.Y) is the ip address

If you have other traffic on the vpn through the tunnel that requires no nat, then you must add external nat exemption rules since these lines above obliges all traffic through the asa to have a nat statement.

See if it works for you, else post your config nat here.

  • ASA 5505 <>ASA 5510 VPN Site to Site

Try to configure a vpn site-to site beetween an ASA 5505 and a 5510. I can't get anything thrown, there are now debugging messages or the other. I must have done something wrong, I followed this paper: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a0080950890.shtml but I can't make it work. Anyone can have a peek at my configs, maybe I forgot something.

OK, if you go ahead and add this command to all two firewalls 'inside access management' and try to one side inside the 10.21.32.10 ping always nothing passing by?

  • cannot ping remote ip on ASA no firewall (VPN site to site on SAA) configired no proxy, icmp not inspect, no chance

    some help me

    (Q) ping remote ip unable on ASA is not Firewall not on pc (VPN site to site on SAA) configired no proxy, icmp not inspect, no chance

Note - I can ping PC but not the same subnet ip on ASA2 L3

    PC---> > ASA1 - ASA2<>

    Hi Matt,

Let me answer your question in two points:

    • You cannot ping an ASA on another interface other than the one where you are connected to the ASA of.

For example, ASA1 and ASA2 are connected through their interfaces 'outside '. ASA1 (or any other device on the external interface) can not ping/access ASA2 on his (ASA2) within the interface. The only time wherever this can be substituted is a tunnel VPN with the command "access management" configured for other interface, for example management-access inside

    • Traffic ASA1 ping to a remote client behind ASA2 won't over the VPN tunnel and as such is not encrypted. That's because ASA1 will forward traffic based on its routing table that probably this way through its 'outside' interface Except that traffic is allowed with the ASA2 (using the ACL), it will fail.

We can do on the routers of sourcing our ping to another interface, but it will not work on the SAA.

  • VPN Site to Site ASA

Recently, I set up a VPN from Site to Site using a Cisco ASA 5505 to a Cisco 2691 and works a lot but internet no longer works for clients behind the ASA. I know how to get online, but it disconnects the VPN. Can someone please advice to see what I've done wrong or Miss? I know that acl 110 blocks them but am breaking my head by trying different things.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

I guess that a number of things here:

First is your ASA is directly connected to the internet, and the VPN is happening via internet.

And also your users trying to access the internet are in the subnet 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0.

If they are both true, then it looks like the problem is with your ACL of proxy/field of encryption.

Your crypto acl has a match any destination in this document, which is a bad habit when virtual private networks using site-to-site.

permit access ip 192.168.0.0 scope list outside_1_cryptomap 255.255.255.0 any

It's basically saying take whatever passing from 192.168.0.0/24 to any destination and to quantify through the vpn.

So which includes your internet traffic. Make sure that you are specific using src and dst systems int these ACLs.

    i.e. outside_1_cryptomap list extended access permitted ip 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0

Where 192.168.1.0/24 is the remote network on the 2691. This acl should then be reversed, one exact mirror on the other homologous (2961).

You must also match this acl with your not acl nat, to ensure that your internet traffic is natted, but vpn traffic is not.

The acl blocking traffic either, because you have not an acl interface all traffic inside will be allowed to default outside inside.

HTH let me know if there are problems.

  • IPsec VPN site to site between router problem Cisco ASA. Help, please

    Hello community,

I'm stuck in configuring VPN site to site between ASA (OS 9.1) and router Cisco IOS (IOS 15, 2 - 4.M4)

Attachment is router configuration and ASA. I also include the router debug output.

It seems that the two parties must isakmp missmatch configuration, but I have already disabled the KeepAlive parameters. I also turn off PFS setting on both sides. But it does not work. I have no idea on this problem.

Please help me. Any help appreciated.

    Thank you

I didn't look any further, but this may be a reason:

     crypto map mymap 1 ipsec-isakmp dynamic dyn1

The dynamic CM must always be the last sequence in a card encryption:

no crypto map mymap 1 ipsec-isakmp dynamic dyn1 crypto map mymap 65000 ipsec-isakmp dynamic dyn1

Try this first, then we can look further.

  • VPN Site to Site ASA (only happens with interesting traffic)

Is anyway to get an ASA to VPN site-to-site ASA addition interesting traffic?  I need to keep this tunnel independently of traffic is anyway to do this?

Unfortunately, no such feature has been developed on the SAA. You need to deceive the ASA with a host located in the "interesting" part of the network to constantly generate interesting traffic. Here are a few suggestions:

-Use the IP SLA on a Cisco device

    -Perform a host TCP ping

-Setting up a host of the site has press site B as a NTP source ASA

Thank you for evaluating useful messages!
