• vSphere HA Virtual Machine failover failed

  Hello

  There are 3 ESX host in our cluster.  One of them (say Host3) just out of the Maintenance Mode.

  Then we change the DRS to aggressive and run reconfigure HA on the other hand, two ESX host (let's call them Host1 and Host2).  We just want to migrate VM to ESX host that just come out of maintenance mode.

  However, we find that all VM on a particular of ESX (Host1) host and a VM on a different host ESX (Host2) get the error message "failure of vsphere HA Virtual Machine failover.  We would like to ask for your opinion what are the possible causes of this error message?  The parameter that controls the behavior of the cluster?

  It looks like no HA should be launched at all in your situation as long as there are no unexpected host outtages.  You have followed VM enabled in your settings of cluster HA?  You'll definitely want to check the logs of the evidence as to why this is happening.

  Make sure that each of your hosts can ping address their isolation, usually the default gateway of the management network.  If you have followed VM enabled, make sure that VMware Tools is running in virtual machines that had the error.  You can also disable HA on the cluster and wait that AAM agent to be uninstalled from each host, then re-enable HA.

  If you don't want to disable all of the HA cluster, you can also remove individual hosts to vCenter.  This will also uninstall the agent of the MAO.  Once it is removed, add back to vCenter and the cluster HA-enabled.  This will then be re - install the agent HA.

  Without looking at the logs, it is difficult to say exactly what has caused your problem.  Feel free to attach your files to log to the community here.

  IM using esxi 4.0 u1, have several virtual hosts running.  I use the vi client to manage, no vcenter.

  I want to connect a drive external hard usb to one of the virtual machines.  How do I do this in vi client?

  Not directly supported in the current version of ESX (i). You can try passthrough. Take a look at the http://vm-help.com for directions. A future version of vSphere will be the real answer.

  You can move vms from 3,5 to 4, first of all, look at that if you move virtual machines in an othe data store, you must use svmotion or take off your virtual computer.

  You can run 3.5 vms in an esx 4 without problem. So if you want to enjoy the v4, you must first upgrade vmware tools, and the last step is to upgrade the virtual machine virtual material.

  Move all the VMS to the v4, and then reinstall the other server with esx4.

  Check the vmotion compatibility matrix and evc cluster parameters, you can mix processors intel, but not mix between amd and intel.

• Virtual host name

  We have one Equallogic running on a PS4100. I'm relatively new to the learning system so even my way around it. This could be a simple query.

  My question is this: we have an old server with 4 TB of data storage. Call the SERVER1. It is retirement due.

  I would like to move that data to the Equallogic, where I have plenty of room for it.

  However, we have many, many customers running many readers mapped to SERVER1. Instead of remapping all, which will have an age, y at - it a facility inside SAN HQ or group leader to give a virtual host name (which will be "SERVER1") and intellectual property to a volume? Pretty sure that our former NAS system a few years back was able to do this.

  For customers, the transition would be seamless - they would always connect to the same host name, only it is now hosted on the Equallogic rather than being a stand-alone server. I need to update the DNS entries and turn off the original Server1 completely of course.

• Only one virtual host can reach the door at the same time?

  I installed ESXi 6 on a HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 and got an operational virtual host. But it seems that no matter what I do, one host can reach the door at one point. All other grandis hosts can ping other virtual hosts and ESXi hardware, but can not get any further than that. And the same is true of outside: I can reach ESXi and a host of outside this subnet, but others are inaccessible.

  I checked that each host is configured correctly and in the same way, and they have different MAC addresses and is even went up to clone a virtual machine that has access to the network, without success.

  The upstream network hardware is not under my control, but they swear everything that should be the cause of this behavior. The ProLiant server has a Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5719, 1Gbps full-duplex. The guests are CentOS 7 x 64, with adapters vmxnet3 (but Intel E1000 adapters exhibit the same behavior). All hosts are on the same port group.

  It sounds as if the physical switch port is secure port, which generally limits the number of MAC addresses that are allowed to 2. Depending on the switch model, this may be named "desktop" mode. Change mode of the configuration of the port to access (or trunk) should solve the problem.

  I am new to SFBC and fight to get configured to work with virtual hosts on my local development server.

  • CF 11

  I can get the BFC works with RDS, debugging, etc. When I turn off the virtual hosts. However, whenever I try to use it with virtual hosts can't RDS and debugging to work.

  You should be able to stick with the default apache configuration where he will answer for any host name and create virtual servers for each instance with the root of the document appropriate for this instance of CS. Then you should be able to use rewrite rules to direct users to the virtual host appropriate depending on what URL they access the server with.
