VSphere VirtualCenter cluster remove

I would like to move ESX one VirtualCenter to the other clusters. I was vmtioning by a vm from one ESX Server to another in the cluster. I then put the host in maintenance mode and move the host cluster and then vmotion VM on it and then remove from VC. Can I have simply right-click on a cluster and choose 'Remove' - it seems that the cluster is removed and deleted the host within the cluster. I will then add these welcomes the new Victoria Cross. with all of the virtual machine.   Is that how that would work? or am I missing something?

not if you disconnect first the host. If the host is in a disconnected state, you don't need to put in maintenance mode.  You cannot delete a host if it is in a connected state.

    Hi all

We are still in the testing phase.  When deleting a cluster, we had a problem of EMC storage that caused the removal of cluster to fail.  Since then, it looks like we have some metadata corrupted, as the problem of storage has been resolved, but remove it from the cluster fails.

Is there a way to force a cluster to remove?  I know that we can delete the virtual machine, but the metadata would still be in the database of VSphere (or at least, we think it would be).

    Thank you

    Steve

We ended the search for each column of each table in the database of VCenter and the only references found in VPX_EVENT and VPX_TEXT_ARRAY.  These resembled historical transaction tables, with no metadata on the missing VM.  Consequently, on a hunch that we rebooted the server serengeti assuming it as cache associated.  When we did this, the Group was still in the list, but the cluster remove command now worked.

  • VSphere HA Cluster failure when downing VCenter Server

Today, I took my VCenter server for maintenance. A few moments later, my node 2 VSphere HA Cluster is gone offline as well as all the guests running. When I brought the server VCenter upward, both hosts HA had to reinstall put it then HA Agent on the guest virtual machines.

In newspapers, I saw this entry for each host. For the host XYZ.domain.com invited running example 1 and example 2:

XYZ.domain.com host (data center) does not

example 1 on host XYZ.domain.com (data center) is disconnected

Example2 on host XYZ.domain.com (data center) is disconnected

The other cluster node has a similar registry, where he himself is unresponsive and all virtual machines running on this issue say that they are disconnected.

Any ideas why this would happen?

  • Environment of horizon 6.1 with Vsphere 6 cluster, Dungeon of Win7 64 desktop computers to crash/restart

I manage about 7 different environments from view of the Horizon for customers, others on prem and some in our hosted environment.  I had no problem (recently) with any of them and some of them exist on this same environment Vsphere, and another is on the same version of the view of the Horizon.  The only noticeable difference is I think environmental issues are on version 7 of material and the environment of the problem is 11.  The problems are spend on all servers in the cluster, and the cluster includes other view environments, using the same storage array in certain circumstances to work.

So, the problem is that these Win 7 64 desktop computers are crashing or restart, and I can't understand log exactly which.  I don't see "WinBSOD" in the newspaper.  Users report the problem after walking away for a few minutes, and they come back to a black screen, move their mouse to try to wake up and usually lose the connection.  It seems that maybe there is a problem with video, but I can't really know what or why.  They have all 35 MB of video memory, and most of the users are running 1920 x 1080 or lower on a single monitor, so this should be more than enough.

A journal of one of the machines having the issue is attached.  Someone at - it a preview?  able to point me in the right direction?  I generally understand such things on my own, but this one has me pretty puzzled.

  • Operations Manager Foundation on vSphere Standard Cluster?

    Hello

my client purchased the acceleration Standard Kit. The period of testing and migration, we used the 60 day trial license and activated the Drs During that time, we installed the Foundation included in operations manager.

Now, I want license systems. Before that, I got disabling DRS and to do that I have to remove the VAPP Operations Manager.

I'll be able to add the VAPP later without DRS? If this is not the case, how am I supposed to run Operations Manager in an environment of 'Standard '?

    Thanks for your help.

    Christian

You can not not run vCenter Operation Manager in a cluster without DRS because it's a paralytic.  You're choices are active DRS cluster or run on a host not in the cluster, but can still be managed through vCenter.

You can of course.  Just browse through the vsphere client data store and do a right-click on the virtual machine's .vmx file you deleted - then click "Add to the inventory,"

  • VSphere new Cluster install

Very short time to proceed with the installation of our new vSphere cluster based on the material - next

    HP EVA 6400 8Gb FC

    7 x DL380 G6 x 5550, 32 GB RAM, card NETWORK (embedded) s 4

Regarding the configuration of the network, I'm undecided between the two approaches with the WIS-

2 team of ports for groups of ports SC and VM (shared resources)

2 team of ports for vMotion/vmkernel port groups

trunk port or all groups in 4 interfaces

The latter is obviously the more easy to install and manage, but I fear that vMotion traffic may saturate the interfaces. My concerns here are unfounded, as I suppose we could implement to limit the bandwidth of the traffic shaping?

Once the configuration above is complete we will be looking to join tissue fiber with our cluster 3.5, storage vmotion VM across existing in the new storage. Assuming that here there is no problem spending 3.5 to 4 machines - this will be an AMD Move Intel VM is powered off and then moved.

Any advice/comments (good or bad) have greatly appreciated!

Each vmkernel port will use max 1 link (with by political portid) so you can't saturate the cards during a VMotion.

You can also play to the level of portgroup to set a preferred connection to "isolate" a portion of the traffic on some teddy bears.

  • Microsoft Cluster in vSphere using RDM disks

Gentlemen, I have doubts that sounds simple, but it is better to ask than to the hurt things.

Here, in the company where I started work two weeks ago. We have two servers of files Windows Server 2012, both are part of Microsoft Cluster Services, these two servers are virtualized on VMware ESXi 5.5, each on a host, here we use vCenter HA and DRS.

Well, these file servers 03 RDM disks connected to the fibre channel, storage only disks are online only on node 1, node 2 drives are present in the computer Manager, but marked offline.

To my knowledge, my experience of simple Microsoft cluster, the disks must be online on all nodes for disaster recovery is quick, for example through cluster in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Hyper-V Server R2 of 2012 using iSCSI storage and always leave the disks online on all nodes.

My question is: is there a reason why a node drives remain online and the other node is taken offline? Because of RDM technology?

I can then do disks on node 2 as well as online without risk?

I'm an environment that left another analyst configured, had never made Windows Server 2012 in virtualized VMware vSphere servers cluster using RDM disks, so made the questions, so instead of simply in clicking on node 2 of disks and makes them online it is better to ask before

    Thank you!

Ivanildo, is the normal Windows Server Failover Clustering behavior, since it is an active/passive cluster architecture, where a single node read/write a disk at a time, and is not a problem due to the use of RDMS in vSphere environment.

The bellow image show two discs a WSFC, where 6 disk Offline on that particular node and the 7 disc is online:

And, do TRY not to put the disks as offline being online on another node through disk management, this task must be performed by using the Failover Cluster Management console.

  • Remove a cluster in vCenter 5.5

I have two hosts in a cluster. I want them both to a new server vCenter (2012 R2).

I spend in maintenance mode to move the host because they are in a cluster. However, I can choose culter and then remove and I get a warning "removing a cluster remove also all the hosts and virtual machines. Are you sure you wan to do this? »

Remove a cluster will both hosts in maintenance mode or it will remove the cluster and put both hosts up one level (data center) without going into maintenance mode?

    Thank you

    Tjcooper

There is no need to use the Maintenance Mode. What I've done for the past migration was to disable HA and DRS manual value (maybe not necessary though), then 'Disconnect' hosts to vCenter and finally 'remove' them before adding them to the new environment. You must still work to 'force' add hosts to the new vCenter Server without removing them from the old. Once guests are added to the new vCenter Server you can move them to a cluster (CPU/VCA compatibility provided).

  • How to install BDE cluster without software

BDE 2.1, it is established that you can create a cluster hosts and let distribution management software (for example Ambari) install the cluster.

We are looking to upgrade to 2.1, but for now on 2.0.  Is it possible to just create the virtual machine and then install the cluster of Ambari?  We tried to install the cluster, remove the software (RPM - clear), then by restarting the guests.  It seems that the BDE reinstalls the software when this happens.

It is not the end of the world if we can not, as I said, let's go to 2.1 next week.  However, what I have above possible?

Create a Cluster of basic with the Serengeti command-line Interface

Yes, you can use BDE 2.0 or 2.1 to create a basic cluster in your environment of Serengeti. A basic cluster is a group of virtual machines configured and managed by Serengeti. Serengeti helps you plan and configure the virtual machines according to your specifications. You can use virtual machines to the cluster basis to install large data applications.

The basic cluster does not install application of large data files used when you create a cluster Hadoop and HBase. Instead, you can install and manage applications data with tools for third-party such as Apache Ambari application or Cloudera Manager management in your environment of large Extensions of data and integrate with your Hadoop software. The basic cluster does not deploy a cluster Hadoop and Hbase. You must deploy software in virtual machines from the base of the cluster by using a third-party external application management tool.

The Serengeti includes a cluster annotated sample specification file that you can use as an example, when you create your database cluster specification file. In the Serengeti Management Server, the specification sample file is located at opt/serengeti/samples/basic_cluster.json. You can change the configuration values in the cluster sample specification file to meet your needs. The only value, you cannot change is the value assigned to the role for each node group, which must always be basic.

You can deploy a base with the data Extension plugin Big cluster by using a custom cluster specification file.

To deploy the software on the basis of the VMS cluster, use the cluster list - command of detail, or runserengeti - ssh.sh cluster_name to get the IP address of the virtual machine. You can then use the IP address with applications such as Apache Ambari or Cloudera Manager to set up the virtual machine with the software of your choice. You can configure the management application using the serengeti of username and the password you specified when creating the cluster basis within large data Extensions when management tool requires a username and password for you to connect to the virtual machines.

  • Configuration of high availability in vSphere alarms

    Hello

We have three ESXi hosts in a cluster and, recently, one of the hosts that failed (I have connected a matter of pension with VMWare to get assistance to research into why).  The virtual machines on this host automatically migrate to the other two hosts in the cluster, but we did not know that this had happened until we saw some VMS showing high CPU ready using vCOPs.

My boss asked me to alert us if the high availability feature is used as it was the case here.  I looked on Google and the VMWare Web site, but I can't find anything specific but I've only worked with VMWare products for about a month so it could well be that I'm looking for simply not the right thing.

I would be grateful for any help, as I have said that I am very new to VMWare, so I hope I got all the information that is needed, if it's not made me know.

    See you soon,.

  • Disassembly of cluster 5.1 ESXi

    Hi all

I have a problem. I have cluster HA (without DRS) of two nodes, now I want to spend these two nodes to different vCenter (new) and to build a new three-node HA cluster there.

Can I disassemble my current HA cluster, remove nodes old vCenter, connect hosts to the new vCenter and build without disturbing HA cluster virtual servers hosted on these nodes vm?

    concerning

I guess that you have a HA cluster with 2 ESXi host & guests have some virtual machines running on them. Now you have a different vCenter & don't want to create a new cluster with 2 ESXi host to vCenter old + you want to add a new ESXi host.

Here is the recommended method to do the same thing:

    1. walk old vCenter HA cluster > right click > change settings > disable HA

    2. Once you disable HA on the old vCenter, HA agent will be out installed as well.

3 tell - the old cluster host or connect immediately to remove the cluster.

    4. create the new cluster > add all 3 hosts (2 removed from the old cluster + 1 new host) in the new cluster.

    5. activate HA on the new cluster > This will install HA agent on all hosts 3.

6 configure the cluster HA the way that suits you (admission control strategies, datastore pulses etc.)

Note: Your virtual machines always work on hosts that have been removed/disconnected from the old cluster. Please note that until you add to the new Vcenter cluster, there is chance that host disconnected can go down for some reason any & your virtual machines can cope in time to stop. That is why, first follow the new vCenter, create the cluster in advance > configure HA & then remove old cluster.

  • A single vCops VAPP arrive at a cluster of Std vCops and a cluster of businesses vCops?

Looking to design a vSphere Management Cluster using vCloud Suite STD (Std vCops) and a Production Cluster using vCloud Suite Enterprise (vCops Ent).   If I connect the vCenter vCops that handles both of these licences of vCops, is vCops smart enough to allow the right license for each cluster based on how to assign the licenses?

The reason why I want to do it is because I don't want to lose vCloud Suite Ent licenses on a cluster of vSphere management, but still want vCops Std to manage the infrastructure of virtual machines in the cluster.

    Thank you

    -MattG

vCOps can use only 1 license key at the time, so it will only work in a single edition at some point.

If you want to have 2 different deployments under license, you will need 2 vCOps different deployments in the same vCenter. You will need 2 keys vCOps - 1 for vCOps STD and 1 for vCOps Ent. A unit of vCOps will have access to / collect resources for the MTS, the other for the resources of the NTS. License will be assigned to each appropriate vCOps deployment. You must have a device of vCOps (last registered member) configured as the extension in vCenter for the web client feature.
