  Hello. I got the Tecra R850-520 4 months. from the beginning, I have the same problem - noisy fan but no load cpu (about 2-4%) using win7 and win8 64bits

  I tried to change the windows profile to optimize or energy saving. but I still get the fan noise. Set the bios to 3.90. I have re-checked windows 8. and always the pleasure is strong. When no cpu is used.

  Notepad is cool - so I don't know where is the problem. It's probably bad driver for ACPI or for measuring the temperature. I tried to change the position of the laptop - and I found two metal plate on the bottom.

  You can set Windows Power plan settings in order to improve the cooling system.

  
  Changes in the operating system:
  --> Power Options control panel--> change the parameters of plan--> change power avancΘs--> TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings--> cooling method

  Changes in the Bios (power management):
  Intel Turbo boost Technology

  Changes in the operating system:
  TOSHIBA HW Setup--> the CPU frequency mode

  Try this settings:
  Plan (Toshiba power save) optimised battery
  Technology Intel Turbo Boost (BIOS) - disable
  The CPU always low frequency

  From my experience, this should reduce the noise.

  I took my Probook s 4440 which comes preinstalled with windows 7 64 bit (2 years ago) use it with an SSD in the last 8 months.

  A week ago I did the following:

  1. open Notepad

  2 - took the time to thoroughly clean all vents and fans. almost no dust was found.

  3 - do you have a clean install of Windows MS 8.1 64bits.

  4 installed MS Office bloatware and other applications.

  Personally, I would go back to windows 7, windows 8 - 8.1 has a lot of problems & bad drivers.

  PS: there is no standard C size. Depends on the size of a HD order you or comes with a packet of a particular computer.

• Failure of XP logon to the W2K3 domain unless that network ports are enabled with already logged on workstation

  Fully patched XP laptop computer (Dell D630) cannot connect to a W2K3 domain, unless the network port is swapped with a workstation already on (connected) network.  Time and the computer name are all correct.  The name of the computer is in AD.  Am able to connect to the laptop using the credentials cached (without being connected to the network).  Can then connect to the network and manually map the drives, etc.  User account seems to be ok as well (because I can manually map).

  Have never seen this before. What could cause this problem and solve it?  I can't always share network with active PC ports.

  This was bugs me for a week now: W2k3 server a customer has a problem to launch a specific scheduled task.

  The task calls first on an application that generates files; Excel is open, then a macro is executed, which saves more than some files; Finally, these files are copied to a UNC path to another server.

  -The permissions on all the files are OK (account used is domain administrator)

  -"Run only if connected" is NOT selected

  -But: Excel displays apparently the first home screen whenever it is opened with this account.

  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  According to the details of the benign trigger for 4003-0:

  'Tools of networking, such as clear view HPs, provide mapping network capabilities. This may include a mapping of the network services available, so the scans to UDP port that can come from these systems.

  Servers Active Direcory (Port 88), LDAP (Port 389) and DNS (Port 53) showed that cause false alarms positive when the answers to many questions from the same host.

Because often, the application uses a different source for each port, the service responses can be confused with a port scan by the sensor.   In addition, from the filters section has suggested:

  "Exclude as sources and destinations network management stations. Exclude the DNS / LDAP / Active Directory servers as sources. »
