Wallpaper even across all user accounts

Is it possible to make a permanent background to the computer, despite the different users who connect? My kids are connect every time they enter in the laboratory, and they each have their own user wallpaper. I want to make the wallpaper to stay the same despite that connects to. Is this possible? Thank you.

Original title: wallpaper

Hi Alan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

What is the edition of Windows 7 installed on your system?

I understand that you want to have the same paper applied to all the user accounts on your system. To do this, you may need to edit the group policy corresponding to which you have Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise installed on your system. See the following procedure if you have the indicated editions.

1. go to the "Start" Menu and type "Run" in the search bar. Go to type "gpedit.msc" in the space provided. Click on 'OK '.

2. click on "User Configuration" under the "user policy." Click on "Administrative Templates".

3. click on "Desktop", then "desktop wallpaper." Click "enabled."

4. enter in the source to the location of your desired next to 'Name' wallpaper For example, you will write your file name wallpaper in the brackets at the end of the source of C:\Windows\web\wallpaper\(Your Wallpaper Name Goes Here).

5. click on 'Apply' to save your settings and 'OK' to exit.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

I deleted several user accounts and need to restart to changesw can take effect, but after that I have to restart the laptop then all user accounts have been restored?

    Hi GhettoBoy,

How do you delete user accounts? Is it just C:\Dosument and settings users or accounts under the control panel? If you don't want to keep all these account data, you can try to delete the profile of click Start-> settings-> Control Panel-> system-> Advanced-> user profile and select the profile and remove. Also check under 'User accounts' in the control panel to remove the names of users.

    I hope this helps.

  • All user accounts Windows XPrestricted open all of a sudden 'Map network drive' by clicking on the desktop and the "research" by clicking on any folder

    Hello

you have a problem with my Windows laptop that left me speechless.

I would really appreciate if someone could provide a solution or any ideas where to start fixing this, as I get close to return to the previous backup full system, but reluctant to do so as I have never done it before so I'm worried if it really works as supposed (Macrium and Ping).

    1. description of the problem

All users of Windows XP (SP3) restricted accounts open all of a sudden 'Map network drive' by clicking on the desktop and the "research" by clicking on any folder, including My Documents.

However, all accounts administrator work as before and also user accounts work like so usual, they are included in the Administrators group, with respect to the clicks of the workstation and records.

In addition, the correct icons for 'Drive' and 'Record' are visible when connected as long as administrator but lacking when logged as long as user restricted when you check the file associations by "open the folder and then click on Folder Options in the Tools menu.» Click the registry file types list. »

    2 solution unsuccessful attempts

    2. google and tried the solution to manually change the registry entries from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321186

    "
Start the editor of the register (Regedt32.exe).
Look for, and then click the default value under the following registry keys if this problem occurs with folders:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
If this problem occurs with drives:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Click on edit in the Edit menu.
Type 0 in the value data box, and then click OK.
    Exit the registry editor.
    "

(Fixit associated meanings has also not working for some reason, says that the Windows Installer does not run, don't know if the same problem...)

    2B. and then also tried the fix "regsvr32 /i shell32.dll" at http://blog.chron.com/helpline/2005/10/double-click-opens-search-instead-of-folder/.

After these steps, the registry under "Drive" and "Directory" information are as attaché at the end read somewhere there should be a "find" under lock and key, as I have, but don't know if the subkeys under 'Search' are what causes weird behavior.

If anyone knows and could provide what the values for the registry values must be in a system that works, would be nice to compare to possible problems.

Unsuccessfully, with what precedes, to solve the problem, but noticed through that:

2 c. When you are logged in as administrator, I am able to see and modify the registry keys concerned with regedit, considering that when logged in as a regular user, I get an error that translates roughly as "the key could not be opened [consultation]?.» Error in opening the key. "for"Default icon"and subkeys 'shell' to 'Drive' and some subkeys under"shellex ".

Oddly enough, this is also the case even if I "Run with" regedit as a user belonging to the Administrators group when logged in as a limited user.  Could be the mechanism of Windows registry access.

Noticed that the small group 'Users' did not have access to "Drive". Grant read access, even as the "directory" and other registry keys next to them, for "users".

Now see the values of registry as a limited user, but the problem persists. Do you really know what to try next, after spending hours Googling for answers.

3 computer laptop environment and other factors

    3. don't know if it's related, but perhaps that coincides the time and the possible reason of sage:

I had the problem two days ago described in "account Administor doesn't have access to some files and registry entries" to http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_27415496.html.

Zone alarm free firewall prevented changing the key of HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microdsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

Which was fixed as in the article above tweaking of Zonealarm settings so that changes are allowed.

    3. the environment of the laptop:

    Acer Travelmate 8204 laptop

Windows XP SP3 with virtually all updates of installed Microsoft.

Recent issues (related?) with the .NET Framework 4 updates and the repair facility. FixIt against MS to install MS Update and the Application works and reveals no problems, but the settings from-> Panel-> Add or Remove Applications said that it cannot change or delete NET Framework 4.

ZoneAlarm Free Firewall version: 11.0.000.057, prevented possible culprit get earlier access to the registry, uninstall?

Norton Antivirus version recently installed 20.3.1.22, possibly in conflict with ZA or bug?

It seems that I managed to solve the problem on my own. Did two things:

1 set the registry keys determine programs associated objects 'Répertoire', 'Drive' and 'File' to the default values by using the settings found here: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\

    2. If you want to have permissions for group 'Users' to read all these keys in the registry. For some reason any access worked only partly for standard users.

Not sure who finally solved this problem, but after I had finished 1. and 2. for the purpose of 'Record', by clicking on 'My computer' and any folder works normally for all users of the computer.

I suspect that some recent installation of program which adds actions associated with these objects messed up the registry. Suspects are Norton Antivirus and dbPowerAmp.

Thanks for the suggestions for this problem!

  • Windows 7 Home Premium - all user accounts have disappeared after the update of Windows...

My Windows 7 Desktop is really watered.  After a Windows automatic update, none of the user accounts appear in the login window.  Only a generic connection where you will need to enter the user and the password are displayed.  And when I enter the user name and password, I get a message that they are not valid.

Here are a few additional pieces of information:

    1. I tried to restore to the point before the update, but it fails.  I get a message that there are missing files.

    2. my other restore points I had before the update are no longer available.  I don't know what happened to them that they do not appear on the screen of restore points.

    3. I can't log on to the computer at all, none of the accounts work.  I can get to a command prompt by using the repair disk, and I can see all the folders for the users.  So everything is intact.   Something must have happened to some system files and thus connect is not possible.

    4. users appear in the list of profiles in the registry.

    5. no windows service start because none of the users are no longer valid.

    6. I tried sfc/scannow, but I get an error "already waiting.

    7. I tried to add users on the command line using net and they are successful but even when they do not appear on the login screen and I can't manually type in these user accounts - I get the message that they are not valid.

I tried searching online and I'm still not able to connect to the computer.  It has been 2 days of downtime.  What happened to my old restore points?  And why doesn't my restore points created by the work of windows update?

I want to just restore from factory default, but I'm afraid I'll lose data in particular, all of the files currently sitting in the user folders.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

->, I guess you have done this so that in the WRE (repair Windows environment). It is a ghost environment that disappears that you restart the system. Drive X: is a virtual, not a real disc.

-> Many people are unaware of the need for regular backups (for example, weekly) until they are suffering from a major disaster.

    Suggestions

Going by your description, I suspect that your existing accounts are irreparable. They need to be rebuilt. User data appear to be safe.

Option 1. Use the console commands then in WRE to save all the files of the user on an external hard drive. A disk 2.5 "500 GB in a USB enclosure costs less than $60,00. After having tested the files on another machine, perform a destructive factory restore.

Option 2. Start the computer with a boot of Ubuntu CD, then its GUI allows to save files to the user. It takes time to burn such a CD, but the copy process is easier. When you're done, do a factory restore.

Option 3. A somewhat complex process allows you to create a new admin account, and then use this account to create new user accounts. You must then manually configure each of them (for example Outlook) and move their records of the old data to the new profile folders.

There is also a method to restore old files registry of a set of backup files are a few days old. In your case I wouldn't consider as it would create a disjoint system: the registry files refers to a set of files that have been largely modified by the update.

Post again if you need more detailed instructions for the option that you favor.

    Hello

Some files are in use that could be associated with the file you are trying to copy. Copy a folder at a time and check if it helps. You can also try closing all programs on other user accounts and follow the steps.

  • Is it possible to create a master password that will work on all user accounts?

I have 4 user accounts on this computer.  3 are standard, for my children.  One is my admin account.  I want my children to have their own secure password, but I still want to be able to connect to their accounts.  Is it possible to create a master password which will allow me to connect to all 3 standard accounts?  One password to rule them all, so to speak?

    Help!

    Thank you

    Sorry, this is not possible.

  • How do I erase all user accounts when the admin password forgotten and lost the password reset disk?

Me and my girlfriend bought someone's Office to his work and the admin has forgotten his password and the user to reactivate remind her and we have been able to remove his password and we can not get his password reset.

Frankly - regardless of the many ways of hacking, it - format (I would even zero-write of disc/low level format her) and install the operating system and all applications that you PROPERLY.  You have no way of knowing what he remained there from the previous user and probably don't want to know/take the chance.

  • My office has just done a repair XP after a hardware change and now all user accounts have disappeared and he asks the administrator password when connecting!

We have a unique system of Windows XP that run the software of engineering for certain calculations. All other systems running Windows 7, but what a XP system because it's the only thing that our calculations software runs on.

CPU of the XP computer died on us and we had to replace the card mother and CPU. After the change of equipment, following Microsoft's OWN guide on the running an XP repair, we ran the system repair and got all the way to the login screen (no blue screen not as before repair). However, none of the accounts are there and he asks an administrators password. The system has NEVER had a password to our knowledge, it was built in the House, and all simply by clicking on the Administrative login asks for a password.

What can we do? We needed this fix before today and wait for the repair of the system to do. Is it possible to enter the system to run the software? We tried the SafeMode (all forms) and they all will ask a password after Windows loading.

    It's so frustrating.

(PS I have been building computers for nearly 15 years and have never had this happen)

Thanks for the quick response. I looked into the system with a "start-up" program All original profiles seem to still be there. I don't know how to make them appear well. Can you direct me or tell me, how to make profiles see the place?

The biggest problem, outdoors is not be able to sign more, is that the engineering calculation software is locked to this PC. It can be installed anywhere else without having to pay for a VERY new (I think that thousands of dollars) expensive key or a new version of the software.

    :(

    Yes, it's a problem.
I believe you can use a UBCD4Win CD or Hiren Boot CD to locate and right click on the files you want to change. And then, if you properly in your repair facility, you change the attributes after you're done.
Some guides are better than others. And here's one that I like:
If necessary, hire a PC Tech. It's much cheaper than buying a license that is thousands of dollars!

    Hello, Dgmarks,

You are able to perform a system restore?

How to restore a user profile in Windows Server 2003

  • My guest user account has stopped working after the installation of several windows and IE9 updates.

I recently installed several windows and IE9 updates. During the install IE9 I stopped the installation process, because it seemed that I had two IE9 installs go. I ended up cancelling the installation so IE9 has not installed. I tried to install IE9 again and this time I can't stop installation, and it has been successful. I checked the other user profiles to make sure that everything has been installed, and that's when I noticed that my guest account wasn't just all users accounts were working well.

Whenever I try to open a program, for example: Internet explore, any Office program and even the calculator another window opens asking me to manually locate the file I'm looking for. I am able to locate the file and open it, but as soon as I close I can't reopen unless I have to manually search for the file. There is a checkbox indicating that it automatically uses this file with the program but I can't check the box (its in a light gray that I can't click on) and I don't want to manually search the file everytime I open a program. I tried using a restore point before updates, but which did not set can guest account everyone please help?

[1] I need to correct me by declaring that the Mcafee subscription is 18 months and its due for renewal in June, then yes its still the preinstalled version.

[2] will certainly be your advice on that. Should what drivers I roll back?

[3] I thought to go on this forum first, but I chose it because the error occurred while I was updating, but I'll post my question it too

A1A. Ah! The application is named McAfee Security Center by chance?

A1B. Do you plan to purchase a subscription for this or any other McAfee application (which you would need to do so BEFORE the expiry of 18 months 'advance')?

A2. In re the restore drivers, you restore the drivers that you have installed via Windows Update. that is, Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset (graphics driver or screen) and Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (NIC driver). Again, this is a long shot.

A3. Please do that start new thread immediately.

  • A library fom a deleted user account still shows in my Windows Media Player "other libraries".

I created a couple of local user accounts on my computer that I deleted later.  Even if the user accounts are no longer on my computer, their libraries still appear in Windows Media Player "Other libraries" on my system and for other people on my network. How can I get my computer to stop sharing of libraries that do not exist?

In fact, I don't want one of my libraries in ANY of my user accounts appears on the computers of other network users.  How do I stop sharing libraries?

Open services.msc and find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If you stop and disable the service, that the libraries should no longer appear on other computers.

But if you had a deleted user who always showed upward, you will have to dig into the registry to fix. I had the same problem with a deleted user and only just found out how to remove it.
First you must find the SID of the user removed before removing all the elements in the registry.
Look in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList. There are sub keys that represent the SIDS of the users of the system. When click on each sub-cles see you on the right side ProfileImagePath that can help determine who the user is.
Once you have the SID go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\PREFERENCES\HME (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\PREFERENCES\HME if you use 32 bit 8 Win). Here will be locked by using the same SID you found under the ProfileList key. Delete the main folder that relates to the SID, you want to remove. To remove the SID folder, you may need to take ownership of the folder SID key.
Then go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Player NSS\3.0\Media servers. Here will be another folder related to SID that you remove. After the two keys were removed, restart the Windows Media Player network sharing service.
  • very slow vCO with certain AD user accounts

    Hello

Some of my Active Directory user accounts are very slow when I use to connect to Orchestrator. The problem is not all user accounts and I see no difference between the slow and fast account. The problem appears when I connect to a display of Web pages as well as when I connect to the Orchestrator client. Frankly it is even worse with the customer. The last time I checked that I had to wait about 15 minutes until the API upload script finished. I looked for a log file of the additional information, but the Orchestrator server does not connect anything during a user login.

    Everyone knows the same problem?

    Thank you very much.

  • Whento download iTunes for separate iTunes accounts linking 10 separate Windows to make user accounts, I download iTunes from the first main administrator account, or does it download it separately in our own Windows user account

If we want to have separate iTunes accounts running from Windows 10 separate user accounts can I download iTunes on the first main administrator account, or does download it separately in our own Windows user account

Install it from the admin account, and then all user accounts will be able to use it.

  • Extra ' ' my Documets folder in my system and the USER account.

I use XP Pro and my system has been reinstalled around March. I was bound and not not determine that this happen. I went to Western Digital and watched the external 500 GB drive. They were always out of stock, so I said the * with it and go the 1 Terabyte. The lead first had problems so I had to wait again. When it arrived I started to drag / drop my file on the external drive. Somehow. and I don't know how to explain 'USER', that is Documents and settings - all users by default Administrator USER user the "USER" account earned an extra folder called got an additional file 'My Documents' on this account, it is a system file and I can't remove it. " I CAN move it. So should I just day forget about it or just keep three "My Documents" on my system. Note that the extra "My Documents" file is not on the external drive. I know I asked this before. I tried all the suggestions, but good number of suggestions I could not follow because the procedure was not on my system.

All user accounts have the 'My Documents' folder and some of them are not the standard user system or administrator accounts that don't care.

As long as you save in 'My Documents' in your profile then life is simple. Your profile is physically located in C:\documents and setings but do not venture here as your dekstop icons already give you shortcuts to 'My Documents'. Voila
