  • Setting up a test server for PHP using WAMP

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could help understand me how to connect dreamweaver to WAMP Server. According to this article:-http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-79e 0a.html and the video attached to it, my Web site should be saved in a folder in the XAMPP htdocs. I would rather not switch to XAMPP, as I've tried it before, he gave my system problems, so I found the htdocs folder in my WAMP Server files and saved my site in there, and I followed the procedure described in the video that explains how to connect dreamweaver to the server, but when I go to test my files , I just receive a 404 error code saying could not connect to http://localhost/(site_name)/index.php/.) Basically, I'm quite confused and have desperately need help to put this in place I need that she is running for a project of A-Level, as I do. Any help that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hello

The fact that you get the 404 message says that the server is running properly.

You have configured your site definition in dreamweaver?

  • Submitting a form on the test server

    Hi all

I run a WAMP server on my laptop and so far did not worth setting up a test server. I'm trying now.

    I have a small php/mysql site with a login.

I raise the index php and it asks me to discover the files so I press Yes. In live mode view, I fill the login form, and then press ENTER. Then I press on enter again. After about 5 steps I realize that the enter key will not work now.

On my WAMP, it works very well. Present on it checks errors, and if it is not all redirects to a page called loggedin.php

Should I wait for the button submit to redirect within the window he direct DW?

(BTW if I bring logeedin.php, discover the files it shows me the login.php file - which is what I expected since no cookie has been set yet)

    Thanks in advance

    Edward

I normally don't use Live View for test forms. However, for links and buttons to work in Live View mode, you must hold down the CTRL (Cmd on a Mac).

I have a Flash slideshow which will play only in a browser, if I click on file > open and open the .swf file locally and directly (not in a web page). He has never played in a Web page, remotely on the web server or locally on Wamp server. It plays correctly in Flash when I test it.

I tried downloading the HTML page that generates a Flash (no change), and he will not play in this file. I also tried using the 'Insert Flash' of Dreamweaver functionality, and that was not good either.

Here is the direct link to the .swf:

    Hi karen...

Well, I did not, he would... But it was a trial.

Anyway: as far as I understand, when it comes to errors in sandbox, there something

to do with customers and cross domain permissions. I think this problem you is not

Flash, but something to do with permissions...

You can also examine the xml file... It could be that it was corrupted somehow...

It may contain information that could be used.

Sorry to say, I have absolutely no experience with SlideShowPro...

Anyway: it does not work if you turn off debugging?

Hope you will make it work.

    Best regards

  • What server platform do you use?

I was really struggling, during the last two weeks with my Wamp server platform.  It seemed that no matter what I tried, I couldn't ever have things to work locally.  I would post the code to GoDaddy and everything would work fine, but it would just never work locally.  And then someone on the forums of Wamp tells me that I have such a hard time with e-mail forms because Wamp does not support e-mail.  (?!)   It certainly would have been nice to know.  So, to get to the point, I'm looking to install a new server platform and I certainly don't want to find things the hard way.  What is the best, all-inclusive, easy to install/use there server platform?  I did a little research and Web Developer Server Suite looks like a possibility.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Either way, I need one that works with PHP

    bnther wrote:

The real question is ' what have you been faced with?

It seems that your real problem is that you tried to test email. The simple fact is that no local PHP server must be supported by e-mail, at least not directly out of the box. The reason is very simple. PHP mail() hands function simply mail to the local server (MTA) mail transport agent. Apart from delivery to the MTA, PHP is not involved in sending the mail. Your problem is that Windows computers do not have an MTA. In the past, you could configure php.ini to send the mail to the SMTP server of your ISP. However, the proliferation of spam means that the ISP now blocks mail that comes from an unidentified source. SMTP servers usually require a user name and password, but the mail() function does not support SMTP authentication.

Bottom line: unless you have the skills and patience to install and configure an MTA on your local computer, how to test the mail() function is to download the script on your remote server. Sending email is about the only aspect of the PHP that cannot easily be tested locally. Forget the search for an alternative, unless you are having other problems with WAMP.
