I lost all hope of ever finding and I forgot about it. Last month, my phone was located 400 km from where I had initially lost, and I was contacted by the guy who did. His English was not good and he never explained how he got the phone in the first place. I didn't ask too many questions and make him flee, all I wanted was to recover my phone. In any case, I was able to get a friend to pick it up for me, but now I'm a bit wary of the safety of my phone... • Satellite Pro A60 does not start: missing or damaged config.sys

    Hello

I turned off my computer Friday, I went back to his Monday - and it won't start. I thought that the config.sys file is missing or damaged.

I tried all the usual methods - safe mode, last known good setting, OS etc, but none of it works. The computer does not recognize that the recovery CD is in the drive, either.

As I don't have an original installation CD - the computer was shipped with the software already installed - I can't try either.

I want especially to recover the entire system, but if I have to, I can live with that. Any suggestions would be welcome.

If you just want to save your important documents, then drag and drop them on your external drive.  A crash should then reinstalled Windows and applications from your original install discs [finally] followed by a copy of the data from your external drive.

If you want to completely recover to a point in time should crash your machine, then you need a backup image-style program.  Are examples of this type of backup is Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, and if you want freeware, Clonezilla.

  • Reading of .bkf files on xp pro with windows vista or windows 7.

It comes to clarify my previous post. How can I open the files in .bkf created with xp pro backup tool with my windows vista machine? I have similar problems with windows 7 to use these saved files with my new computer?

Here is a free software that opens and retrieves the BKF files (and repairs corrupt files): .  Once loaded, you'll be able to read BKF files using the program (and repair those that are corrupt).  This program is compatible with Vista (according to information posted on the site).  If it installs like normal programs, it creates an association between itself and the BKF files so you won't have to go through the process every time that you want to open/recover a BKF file (if it doesn't, go to Start/Default / programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / and find the BKF files and changing the association to the program (if it isn't already there).)  You may need to search for the executable file of the program manually make the association (but I doubt it).

Here is another option that may better suit your needs (I'm not sure what you have in mind): .  The same notes on file associations apply to this program (although I would not install both of them at the same time to avoid a situation of conflict of associations - although the more likely scenario is that the last installed program will be the one with the association).

I don't know how these files (or others) will work with Windows7 - please post this question in the Forums Windows7: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 where people who specialize in issues of Windows7 will be more than happy to help you with your question.

    I hope this helps.

  • Keep the partition to restore hidden for later use

    Hi all

I have HP Envy M6-n012dx and it's to pre - install Windows 8. I see the partition recovery is named D: in my PC (and I don't know why it needs to be shown in my PC because it could easily be messed up).

I decreased my C drive and made two additional E and F partitions.

What I want to do now is to remove the recovery partition drive letter and rename my disks E and F in D and E respectively.

In this way, that my recovery partition should be hidden. More later if I want to fully recover my PC thanks to the recovery, I will assign a drive letter to this partition recovery. Will it work that way, or I'll just ruin my recovery?

In fact I don't want to do a test on it, because it would ruin my recovery. Also, I don't want to make recovery DVD/USB out of it because I want it to be preserved in my laptop.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Recovery with ArchiveLogs

    Hello

I need a little help in the recovery. This is my test case:

-Database running on the virtual machine (linux) in archivelog

-backup all night snapshot of the virtual machine

At lunch, I recover the snapshot together every night to simulate a disaster. Here are my steps to bring the database for the last time as possible with only archivelogs - I know that some data is lost now.

    RDBMS Version: 11.2.0.4

Yes, you can ignore the unwanted (business tablespaces are by your terminology) storage during RMAN restore and recover and you will be able to open the database.

  • Question on recovery

    DB version: 11.2.0.4

    OS: Oracle Linux 6.4

We have a Level0 Sunday backup and an incremental backup of L1 for the remaining days.

    archlogn

    3 - Tuesday 08:00

So, we have a backup of L0 Sunday night and a Monday night L1. The next morning of the day (Tuesday), at 08:00, we lose our data base.

Question1. If I want to completely recover the DB up to Tuesday 08:00, the following should work. Right?

Sunday L0 backup + Monday backup L1 + logs archive generated after the backup of L1 of the night from Monday to Tuesday 08:00

Question2. If I want to make a Point in time until Monday 16:00 recovery, I can do the following. Right?

Backup backup of Monday night L1 + L0 of the Sunday (. ie) I don't need the Ark of newspapers from L0 Sunday evening till Monday 16:00 )

We currently have a debate on how long we should keep the backup of archive logs in the backup media (Data Domain).

    > Sunday backup L0 + Monday backup L1 + logs generated after archiving backup L1 of the night from Monday to Tuesday 08:00

Oracle would need the ArchiveLogs in the * beginning * of the backup of the L1.  The L1 backup takes more than 1 nanosecond to run and an inconsistent backup (as is the backup of L0).  So, so that the backup of the L1 be usable, Archivelogs early in the L1 backup are required.

    > Question2. If I want to make a Point in time until Monday 16:00 recovery, I can do the following. Right?

    > Backup backup of Monday night L1 + L0 of Sunday (IE. I don't need the Ark of newspapers from L0 Sunday evening till Monday 16:00)
Your recovery Point is * before * the backup of L1 of Monday night.  Monday night L1 backup is * after * the Recovery Point.  Monday night L1 backup should not be used, is unusable, is incorrect for a recovery from 16:00 Point Monday.

You need backup Sunday as well as all the time sauvegardΘ ArchiveLogs L0 L0 began until 16:00 on Monday.

As Ed says, Oracle RMAN automatically manages and identifies the backups are needed.  You must be "on the photo" only if

    a. you use RMAN backups to disk

    b. use then a method non-RMAN to copy from disk to tape

    c. you then delete the backups on disk

In such a scenario, RMAN attempts to search the archivelogs on disk and the appropriate safeguards. You need to manually restore the correct backuppieces and the band on the front disc archivelogs RMAN can use.

  • SRM + Virtual Network Distributed Switch (vNDS)

I just want to ask expert advice on my future as configuration below: -.

    • Protected Site (Enterprise Plus) + 2 x VM network + vNDS
    • Site recovery (Enterprise) + 2 x VM network + vSS

It is possible for a site using PDNV and the other uses vSS while the two virtual port group name is the same? Failover VMs will meet no network problem later to turn on?

    Hello

Yes, it is possible. SRM supports the vDS. You can use SRM 4.0.2 (and vCenter 4.0 U2) at least, because in previous versions, there are a few problems with the support of the vDS.

There is no need to name the exchanges even on protected sites and recovery. You will configure in SRM "Mappings of inventory" - match portgroup of the protected site of the portgroup to the recovery site, you want the VMs recovered to connect to. The two of them can be Exchange vSS or vDS.

What do you mean by '2 x VM Network'?

    Michael.
