  There are two different things and upgrade CPU for laptops is not easy all this is complicated, as the motherboards are designed only for the specific model laptop.

  I think the Satellite 1000 came with two memory slots and was initially equipped with 256 MB of RAM. It is expandable to 512 MB total RAM.

If it is a very old motherboard, it may be a good idea to get a newer computer with a good graphics card in it.   Normally, for modern machines we only need the 64 bit operating system itself and the drivers appropriate to go with it. There is no need to upgrade the hardware except we may want more RAM to use the 64 bit OS.

  In your case, the machine is too old, my suggestion is to buy a new machine. In the long run, can be cheaper than buying part and piece of component to upgrade the existing.

  I put t see no reason why it would not be possible to upgrade the OS to Win XP Pro.

  The CPU 1.50 GHz with 448 MB of RAM is not really good to ensure good performance.
  In addition, the operating system may be dirty.

  CPU - Z is definitely wrong! Satellite Pro A300D-161 needs DDR2-800 MHz to upgrade according to the specs on the Toshiba site.
  If the information on the laptop box is correct.

  More video RAM will be assigned automatically and with 4 GB of RAM you will get more memory video too.
