Way to clone the virtual computer with using VMIC

Hi all

Y at - it options CLI to create a clone of a virtual machine without assistance from any infrastructure customer. It will be useful if the clone is a linked clone. I created a clone by copying the VMDK file and then I used VMIC. But, I'm looking for some commands, so this will be helpful when I wanted to create several clones.

Thank you for your help in advance.

    Can I attach an external SCSI tape drive to one of my hosts, and then add it as a device in a virtual machine.

    I want to use backup exec on a virtual machine, rather than having to have a separate physical server to attach the tape drive. I realize that I wouln't be able to vmotion the guest but as its only going to be a backup machine I am happy with that.

    Thanks in advance,

    Yes is possible.

    I have a Dell TL2000 with a dedicated SAS card and it works (not faster than in a real environment, but works).

    You add the SCSI ID of the tape (and the library, if any) to the virtual machine.

    Or, if your hardware can he take charge, using VMDirectPath and give the card on the virtual computer.

  • VDI connect to the virtual computer with multiple NICs, use wrong address

    Strange question, we are the double of a VM to autoguiding.  Each NIC is on a different network, and it works very well.  Except when you sign out of the VM with a zero client.  If both network adapters is enabled through the vsphere, zero client the client tries to connect to the virtual machine using a wrong address.  He will try to use the address 172.16.x.x, but the life of the virtual machine and is stored on 192.168.x.x network.  Is there a way to make the NETWORK on 192.168.x.x address network card that zero the client tries to connect?

    Using the network-> Advanced-> advanced-> tab connections maps and links, move the 192.168.x.x network adapter to the top of the list of connections.

    Im trying to create a virtual machine with PowerCLi but im failing to connect New - VM with an addapter network?

    I know that you can create new network addapter with:

    New-card network -MacAddress 00:50:56:bb:00:13 -Type e1000 -NetworkName ' Vlan 6 Virtual Machine '

    But this will create just a network card on the server im related to the use

    You're almost there, the MAC address must be specified as a string, enclose it.

    New machine virtual- - name VMSTORE23 - $vmhost $esxhost - $datastore - DiskMB 20000 - MemoryMB 2048 Datastore - NumCpu 2 - NetworkName "Vlan 6 Machine virtual network | Get-NetworkAdapter | Set-NetworkAdapter -Type Vmxnet3 -MacAddress "00:50:56:bb:00:2 b" - confirm: $false

    I added the - confirm the setting, as it will not request the change.

  • How to develop the drive to the virtual computer with snapshot

    On workstation 10, I installed the development tools to a snapshot of the virtual machine and ran very low disk space. Can I group or hidden the snapshot on a virtual machine so I can increase the size of the virtual disk of reference?

    Thank you

    Scott

    the vmx file still has the old vmdk - you must change the setting that lists the vmdk file.
    When this is not enough post the vmx file.

    By the way - don't worry about errors you received.
    WS 10 reads in all possible paths for the configuration files and as earlier versions did not complain if we were not present the new version complains.
    I doubt that any default installation can run vdiskmanager without mistakes - if you don't like mistakes: create empty files in each path that has been mentioned

  • Best method to deploy the virtual computer

    Anyone who can tell me what is the best way to deploy the virtual computer deploy of the FVO or models (the VM creation) that create the virtual machine of the templated took longer time compare to the creation of the FVO. Any Suggestions?

    Deploying the model customizze the new machine as part of the deployment will treat you while FVO will be an exact xopy, so you need to manually configure the new machine.

  • How to clone a virtual machine with the drive?

    Hello

    Previously, I used VMware Workstation and has a mastery of "clone". Now I use the reader and I would like to clone my current VM and there is no special orders. Simply copy the directory would probably not there a lot of information such as DNS name, etc. that are likely to be changed. Is it possible to clone a virtual machine with player or do I Workstation?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Nicolas

    In my computer a full clone is nothing more then is not a copy that was made unique in the process and the players of VMware capacity but there is nothing stopping you from manually making a copy and then manually by making the changes to make it unique.

  • Create a virtual computer model using the Windows Client (c#) function?

    The windows-based client can create VM templates?  I created a VM Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and I would use it as a model for all the virtual machines that follow.  However, I have not yet created the vCenter Server VM but want to use the W2012R2 virtual machine as its base.  I don't see how with the customer I have.  Can if not a model, I simply duplicate the VM?  I don't want to use this machine virtual first for vCenter Server and then create a new one from scratch for use as a model.

    To create templates and clone virtual machines, you will need vcenter server in place, but you can use alternative means to clone this virtual machine to use as a basis for vCenter, take a look at this blog post: cloning a virtual machine without vCenter in ESXi free edition 5.1 | Curiosity killed the cat

  • Moving the virtual computer configuration file and work on the clone of the model

    Using the VirtualMachineRelocateSpecDiskLocator to move disks from different NFS data warehouses when cloning a model looks very good work.  However, the Virtual Machine configuration file and the location of work remain on their original NFS data storage, not moving with the root of the drive.

    If this move not all together, or am I missing a step here?

    Thank you

    Scott

    Specifying the "data store" in VirtualMachineRelocateSpecDiskLocator specifies the location of the VM virtual disks only. To move the virtual machine, it might also be necessary to specify "datastore" property of "VirtualMachineRelocateSpec. If this is not specified, the current data store is used to store the files of the virtual computer.

  • can I use my wireless printer if it is connected to the main computer with the USB cable?

    My main computer runs XP Professional and is not wireless capable (that I know), my laptop running Windows 7 is wifi enabled, it can independently connect to the internet and printer (Photosmart 5510) is wifi capable but that is currently connected to the main computer with a USB cable.

    My question: can I use the printer to the host computer by USB and computer laptop through wireless?  If yes how to configure connections? Thank you.

    Hello

    A small wifi Wireless USB on the XP machine should work just fine. You can OpenOffice.org printer to two computers wireless. I don't think that a machine can access the printer if you plan to use the USB connection or wireless. I have not tried yet, maybe next weekend.

  • Get the IP address of the virtual computer? (when no DNS available)

    I have a strange setup where I have a server vCenter runs in a private network that has no DNS available IN-HOUSE.  I am running the scripts that query an IP address range, but takes forever to run.  I can run get - vm and get all virtual machines, but can't do anything with them because there is no DNS and I can't find a way to enter the IP address of the virtual computer.  If I could get the IP addresses I could then run functions against them.  If it makes a difference those VMS have two network cards: Public and private.  Any ideas?

    The Get - VM cmdlet returns the IP addresses to the title of Guest.IPAddress count of the first IP address use as well:

    Get-VM |Where {$_.PowerState -eq "PoweredOn" } |foreach { Write "$($_.Name) has an IPAddress of $($_.Guest.IPAddress[0])" }

  • Is it possible I can get the virtual computer connectivity after restart to connect to the local network in the host operating system?

    Hi all

    For some reason, I have to disable and then enable the LAN connection in the host operating system. If some virtual machines are running during this time, connectivity all VMs for out-of-world are lost, they cannot connect to the host even more (by running the ping command). I tried a few methods to retrieve the connectivity, but all have failed, for example,

    1. reboot the virtual computer

    2. restart VMware Workstation

    3. restart the corresponding system services in the host operating system

    The only way I can retrieve all is to restart the host operating system itself.

    Yes, is there short any path, I can retrieve the connectivity of these virtual machines?

    Thanks in advance.

    I use a Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet NIC, shows the date of the pilot 2006-5-15, but it works well, I think.

    Try installing a newer driver.  According to the site, you should be able to find a driver dated 2008 or 2007 (depending on which exact model of NetLink card you have):

    - http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php

    1 came out of safe guard 360

    Sometimes out of some firewall programs is not enough (they keep still themselves installed in the network of the host stack, even if they are 'closed').  You may need to uninstall to make sure that it is not interfere.  (Search the forums for support for your firewall software see if anyone else is having problems with vmware and 360 safe guard).

  • Download the client computer name using java or javascript

    Hi guru,.

    ... JDev 11.1.2.4.0...

    I don't have any application in the ADF and I want to get the client computer name using java or javascript. I searched on this, but I have found that this javascript method

    function getWorkstationID() {var ax = new ActiveXObject ("WScript.Network"); alert (ax.ComputerName); }

    but that use ActiveX that only work in IE with some security configurations, and I want to get the computer name of any browser client.

    Can you please help me to get the client computer name?

    Try one of these 2 ways:

          HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest();
          String computerName = request.getRemoteHost();

    or

          HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest();
          InetAddress i = InetAddress.getByName(request.getRemoteAddr());
          String computerName =  i.getHostName();

  • Create the virtual machine by using the file PowerCLI and csv

    I know there is a lot of info out there on this and I think I have a working script prety good.  Much was borrowed from this thread, http://communities.vmware.com/thread/315193 many thanks to LucD.

    My code is as follows:

    # Deploy virtual machines from CSV file
    # Much borrowed from http://communities.VMware.com/thread/315193?start=15 & tstart = 0

    # CSV import file
    Import-Csv "C:\guests.csv" - UseCulture | %{

    -Datastore $_. Data store - OSCustomizationSpec $_. Customization"
    -Confirm: $false - RunAsync
    ## .......
    }

    He's going to cross and clone the virtual machine, and looks like he's running of the OSCustomizaitonSpec then it bombards.  It cleans bad VM.  Recent tasks shows "failed virtual machine clone that a specified parapeter was not correct." hostname ".

    The problem is that I don't mean to set a hostname with the OSCustomixationSpec, I try only to IP address info.

    I'm runningn PowerCLI 5.0.1 build 581491

    My ESXi host is 5.0.0 build 914586

    My vCenter Server is Ver 5.0.0 build 623373

    I opened a new thread, because the age of the old thread.  Not sure if this is the best way to do things.

    A very simple and intuitive brake system :-)

    ## Deploy VMs from CSV File

    You can be more selective about the current jobs. For example, you can check if the name of the job shows that they are actually cloning jobs.
