  • EFI VMs are unable to start

    I have a strange problem.  A new vSphere environment 6, EFI VMs are unable to start.  They get stuck at the Windows startup screen and never reach this point.  VMs of BIOS on the same LUNS and hosts fine start.

    I have a support ticket open with VMware support which is now at the level of engineering, but thought I'd throw out to the community as well since I saw developers VMware here in the past.

    The generation of ESXi what we lack is 3247720 (ESXi 6.0 Express Patch 4).  The hosts are connected via FC in HP 3PAR table.

    When the virtual machine is turned on, the vmkernel spits drop of FCP errors until the virtual machine is turned off. We have worked with the storage provider to make sure there are no errors that occur on the table or the FC switches, and as mentioned, other virtual machines (BIOS) are running and start very well since the same LUNs.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Just to officially close the loop on this, it turns out be a bug with 16 GB HBA on berries 3PAR.  HPE has fixed the bug with 3.2.2 EMU2, which updates the HBA firmware.

    In the meantime, we were able to use the solution of disk.maxIOsize.

  • WMC Netflix Plugin - "we are unable to authenticate your request.

    I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.  I installed the plugin of Netflix for Windows Media Center from Microsoft.  I am able to log in and view my queue without problem.  When I click on the movie to watch, I get a black screen.  In the black screen is a box with a red line with a black title bar that reads "Authorization failure" and a grey message box dark which reads "our apologies - we could not authenticate this request".

    I made sure I have do operate newest silverlight, stable (not beta)... that I downloaded from the "Automatic download" section of the task in WMC.  I added *. Netflix.com to my sites of confidence in IE8 and I have no special characters in my e-mail with Netflix.

    I use Windows Security Essential as my security software.

    I have no problem watching all the streaming content with IE8 on the Netflix site, just with the Media Center.  Please help with a fix.

    What I've done so far:

    Disabled WMC in functions
    clear the contents of the c:\programdata\microsoft\ehome
    uninstall the netflix plugin
    restarted the computer
    WMC is enabled in the functions
    redownloaded go in WMC all updates
    redownloaded go in WMC the Netflix plugin
    IE8 open as admin and started to watch the movie
    closed from IE8 &
    connected to Netflix via the plugin for the WMC and always get the same error

    OK, got it figured out!   Go to this site http://www.netflix.com/ThirdPartyAccess and remove access to media centers. Run Media Center and connect to Netflix.  Start a movie and it must authenticate the pop up a window for re.  What amazes me is I called Netflix support and they insisted, there was nothing they could do and it was a Microsoft problem. I'm not berating the support partner, it it not his fault. The fault lies squarely on MANAGEMENT support and the knitting-whits that fail to develop a halfway decent support system.

  • Unable to start the installation of Adobe Captivate 3


    When I try to install Adobe Captivate 3, the first windows installation program "title: Adobe Captivate 3 - Setup" is the "Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Adobe Captivate 3" have two choices:
    -Then or
    -Cancel.
    If we click on the next button, the same windows appear, again and again, the only thing we can do is cancel the installation. I don't have any error message.

    PC configuration:
    We use Windows XP Pro SP2 French (I already try with an English version).
    Adobe Flash Player 9
    I try on a new installation of Windows Vista (on a new HP) and have the same problem.
    Try the demo version of Captivate 3 and with the original CD same problem.

    We found the problem.

    The "locale" prevent installation to start properly.
    (We use a version in French of Windows XP Pro with 'Regional framework' value 'English - Canada')
    If place us "English - us" installation can be completed without error.

    Maybe we can replace "English - Canada" (or your specific parameters) after installation
    was completed.
