  Photoshop CS5 is only compatible with Camera Raw to version 6.7. Photoshop CS5 is is no longer updated by Adobe. The best way to have the latest version of Photoshop is to his scribe for the package of creative photography of cloud. This would have the latest version of Photoshop and Lightroom.   If you don't want to upgrade your Photoshop you can download and use the DNG Converter last to create digital copies of (DNG) negatives of your raw images.   Have you tried running it in compatibility mode (pretending to be XP for example) or even installation in compatibility mode as well? Also once compatibility is set, if it still does not work try by checking the "run as Administrator" as well.

  If Ive read that right - http://forums.v3.co.uk/showthread.php?t=195482 , I think they say that they got it running.

  But also, what version of windows you are running W7 32-bit or 64-bit? Maybe it's that it is possible to run 32-bit and that you have 64-bit (guess).

  So here I am at J5 of the complete installation of CS5.5 (after the trial period, during which all worked fine) and every day there was a new challenge. Today, Adobe Media Encoder simply does not work. Not trying to do an export of the body and not only by himself, either.   I had a problem with Media Encoder smoking during startup and the problem was corrupted preferences.   I remember well, it's that there is a key that you can press and hold while starting Media Encoder (maybe the Alt key) which will put it on and reset all proferences.   This cured my problem.  Hope you also helps.

  Thought I'd see if the videoalchemy.exe file is an archive, which it turns out to be.

  Extract the contents of a folder and copy the folder in c:\program files and created a shortcut to the file executable videoalchemy.exe.

  Low and behold, it worked and opened the program.

  Success at last :-)

  You don't need to install CS3. The CS5 upgrade will be / should be asked of the old serial number during the installation process for the audit.
