  • Why when I open a new tab, it now opens a search bar 'bing '? I never really look for a search bar and it interrupts my effectiveness. :(

If I press ctrl + t to make a new tab, the new tab load a bing search bar. Why? Why isn't there a blank window? When I open the new tab, the cursor is moved in the address to the search bar bar. It is inefficient to me, because I know the site I'm looking and haven't really needed to search. Is there a way to change this? It actually discourages me to use FireFox and I prefer just to solve this problem.

You have sort of a Bing extension or an extension 'search help' installed, what has changed the new blank tab to Bing.

    How do I block it?

Hello arbirk2, this looks like a problem maybe caused by adware on your pc.

Please go to firefox > addons > extensions and remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, the things that you have not installed intentionally, I don't know what purpose they serve, etc.).

also go to Control Panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.

Finally, run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

Have you tried to start Firefox in safe mode to see if it is an extension to the cause of the problem? If it works in Mode without failure, you can start Firefox in normal mode, go to "subject: addons" in the bar of address (without the quotes) and disable your modules one by one until you find the troublemaker.

OK, Spybot Search Destroy & is not an antivirus! You are running completely unprotected. You should immediately check for viruses and malware by the link I gave you in my last post.

  • Firefox open two copies of each time, one with my tabs and the other without, and if I close one, both close.

Since a few days ago, whenever I open Firefox it opens two copies. Got my tabs from the previous session and the other only my home page. If I close is exemplary, the other closes as well. How can I get rid of the second copy?

I am running version 27.0.1 in Windows 7 on a 64-bit operating system.

Tried to delete the attributes read-only files that the above suggested. There is no additional file numbered as he said, there might be, however. Doesn't seem to help until I closed the second copy with the ability to close all tabs. This simple action closed just a single copy and left me with one that I still wanted to open. I closed and reopened, and always gave me one copy, so I guess it's all fixed.

Thanks to those who tried to help!

  • Tabs and 9.0.3 Safari search bar bug

I recently updated my Safari to its 9.0.3 version and I am on OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Since the update I have major visual and UI bugs:

-The search bar/address bar does not appear correctly (see screenshot)

-I don't see any new tab that I opened and the current tab title freezes without explanation

Anyone has the same problem, no difficulty for whom? I tried setting the permissions of the drive, clear the cache in Safari and data, all and still no solution.

I'm on a Retina display MacBook Pro 15 ", 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Iris Pro from Intel and AMD Radeon R9 M370X

Try this: turn off the Suggestions of Safari in the preferences/Safari/search / uncheck Safari Suggestions.

Hello Chaosdruid, This is the correct behavior, ctrl + f to open the search bar, try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables some settings and disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

(If you are using an additional theme, place you in default theme.)

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Mode without failure of Firefox in the Help menu by clicking on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item:

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

  • How to stop multiple self-switching to the address bar every time I open a new tab and try typing something anywhere outside the address bar?

How to stop multiple self-switching to the address bar every time I open a new tab and try typing something anywhere outside the address bar? As something just wants me to use this integrated search when you type something non-Web-address in the address bar and press to enter. And the most ridiculous thing is that happens repeatedly on as every second, as I just got off the address bar and start typing again, but still he passes me in the address bar, then 3, 4 times like that. And the result is that I don't see the address of this page.

I think that its has something to do with my AVG Antivirus, because it started the same time a Nation AVG started to appear in each new tab I opened (and which is irritating as me, I've read here on support.mozilla.org and it seems that the only solution is to completely reinstall Firefox, but I don't want to lose all my settings) but when I type something in the address bar and press enter It opens the search results in Google.

Please try to help me, I love Firefox but I have to switch to Chrome until I fix this.

    Thanks in advance

First of all, please update Firefox 32. 22 is no longer support is not safe. So, let us know if you still have this problem. Update Firefox to the latest version

  • is no longer able to see the 8 tiles frequently open - show only 4 now - must use the command/scroll down to min size of the mosaic each time

With the new version of firefox - not able to see tile 8 discovers each tab opening now - only 4 show now - have to use mouse scrolling and the control key to minimize the size of mosaic to see several cages - used to 8 plates and 8 slabs shown whenever a new tab was opened. Basically, I wan to be able to set the screen for 8 tiles not only 4 each time I open a new tab.

Hi, as you know, you can change the number of tiles on the Page of the new tab to zoom in or out (Ctrl and + key, or Ctrl and - key).

If you want to keep the same zoom setting when a new tab is clicked: Type Subject: config in the address bar, press ENTER, accept the warning, scroll to browser.newtab.preload and double-click on it to change the 'value' of true to False.

It is also possible about: config to change the maximum number of tiles by scrolling to the browser.newtabpage.columns (or Rows), then right-click > modify to set a new number of 'value '.

As an alternative, you might like to try the add-on new tab tools.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.
