My laptop {Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905} was originally Vista when buying.   If there is no entry in the Device Manager, it's quite strange. If the device works properly it is listed under imaging devices like Chicony camera.
  Somehow, it seems that there is no link between the cam and the motherboard.
