Webcam is not detected on my Satellite C660-217

Hello

New on the site looking for some assistance.
I just bought a used laptop. It s a Toshiba Satellite C600-217

I can t detect a webcam and supposedly he's built.
I looked in the control panel Device Manager and hardware but there's nothing for a webcam.

I am at a complete loss and would like to help please

> I can't detect a webcam and supposedly it s were built.
> I looked in control panel Device Manager and hardware but there's nothing for a webcam.

Salvation in a BIOS version there is an additional option to activate the webcam.
Please check the BIOS.

If the BIOS provide no good option, in this case I assume that your webcam is down.
If the webcam module would be OK, then you should see something in the Device Manager even if the software/driver is not installed.
You know...

  • Satellite C660 - 217 Wndows 7-149 gb data (D) used

I have restored my Toshiba Satellite C660-217, Wndows 7 laptop to the default value of the plant, but when I checked in the folder of the computer, the data (D) space (149 GB) serves all upward. When I checked the individual files in data (D), it does not add up to 149 GB.

I was wondering why this is and can I do?
    Thank you.

    Hello

As I m not wrong not the laptop was equipped with a 320 GB HARD drive.
I guess it has been partitioned and three partitions are available (a very small partition is hidden and contains the files of Windows 7 repair)
The other two partitions, C and D are visible.

The C partition has been formatted before installation of the system. The D partition is not affected if you use HARD drive recovery option. In case you have used the recovery disk, partition D should be formatted to and recovery files would be saved once again.

Option 1: Check Device Manager to make sure that it works correctly.

    1. Right-click the Start button, type "Device Manager" and press ENTER.
    2. Once charges Device Manager click 'View' then "Show Hidden devices."
    3. Locate the section "imaging devices".
    4. Note If you see the webcam here.
    5. If the webcam is listed, click it and check that it is not 'disabled '.
    6. If the webcam is listed and disabled, go to Option 2.  If the webcam is not listed, you will spend on Option 4.

Option 2: Allow Windows to re - install the device.

    1. All remaining in the Device Manager, right click on your webcam and select "Uninstall".
    2. If you are prompted select "remove driver and driver package".
    3. Restart your laptop and allows Windows to attempt to reinstall the webcam.
    4. If Windows detects the webcam check the operation of the webcam.

Option 4: Manually re - detect the hardware.

    3. Remove the battery and AC power.
    4. Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
    5. Reinstall the battery and AC power.  Then turn on the laptop.
    6. Once Windows is loaded back to the Device Manager.
    7. Selection 'Action' and then 'search for material changes.
    8. If the Device Manager detects hardware let settle.
    9. If Device Manager does not detect the see material Option 5.

Option 5: System Restore and system recovery.

It is very well described in this document.  Note that all data not saved prior to a recovery will be lost.

    6 options: Repair or replacement.

If none of these solutions worked for you, it is likely that you are experiencing a hardware failure.  It is possible to replace the webcam or reinstall a loose ribbon cable.  However, it is one of most difficult repairs on the laptop.  If you want to try this repair, you can visit your laptop support page and go to the section "manuals".  There is normally a "maintenance and Service Guide" for laptops, this will cover the disassembly of the laptop.  You can then use HP parts Surfer to locate the part for your laptop.

If you do not want to attempt a repair yourself you can ask HP about a repair.  For customers in the United States / Canada, you can call 1-800-474-6836.  If you are not in this region, you need visit the HP Support Site to get contact information for your region.

  • Chicony webcame is not working on the Satellite A350-12j and Win 7 64 bit

    Hello

The chicony webcam does not work on my toshiba Satellite A350-12j and windows 7 64 bit...

I always get different errors as
    "graphics make it fail."
"the device is locked by another program.
    etc...

I tried many things and watch them on a lot of messages, but nothing does. I installed a lot of drivers and programs to solve, but nothing works.
at first the camera was ok but now nothing seems to help and the camera is broken...

    Can you help me??

    Thank you!

    > seen as 1 million messages like mine and not even 1 right answer on how to solve it!
I guess you didn't read all these messages correctly

The user Symbian wrote that her webcam works fine! He used the software/driver for the Toshiba page as well

Since the Skype reports an unknown error too, I guess that this whole thing has noting to do with the webcam software, but with your Windows 7 installed!

Seems a registry keys, files or all what it might be, are confused upward!
In your case, I would try a new installation! Install Win 7 and the Toshiba drivers/software.
    Then test the webcam.

Don t install any 3rd party software before you would test the webcam!

  • Webcam does not work on my Satellite L850

    Hello

    My webcam does not work.
    I need your help!

In my opinion, I tried all possible.

    -Satellite L850 11Q
    -Windows 7 all updates
    -webcam installed Toshiba driver/application
    -any other webcam software
-no entry in the Device Manger/windows webcam

    What can I do?

    Hello

Have you installed another Win 7 on this laptop or are you using the system preinstalled by Toshiba?

If the webcam is not listed in the device, as an unknown device, or as a Device Manager to imagine, then that would mean that the material was not recognized by the system, that means that there is a connection hurt tight between the webcam and the motherboard or the webcam is defective.

If it worked in the past?

Also check the settings in the BIOS, in many cases the webcam can be enabled / disabled in the BIOS.

  • Webcam is not detected on Presario CQ62 with Windows 7

Hi, I'm new to the Forum so apologies in advanced if I made this topic in the wrong place.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62-423NR laptop PC, and I can't detect the webcam. I looked everywhere on the web and from what I have gathered, some Presario CQ62 models have no webcams and some do. Now, I'm about to think that my model does not have a webcam, but it seems as if there is a webcam at the top of the laptop unless someone can confirm that this isn't a webcam?

in any case, I understood also that Windows 7 are compatible with the following programs for HP Laptops: YouCam and CV SmartMedia.
    Sources are here.
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01970581

Which leaves me with the options to install one of the programs above, that I did and the two programs do not detect my webcam despite this webcam has been registered there.

I tried to test on other programs of messaging like msn, Skype and so forth and the webcam is still not detected.

I also made sure the programs I have installed are compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.

I also trouble trying to find a driver for the webcam to this model as well, that makes me then back to the start, I have even a webcam? -___-

So anyone who would throw some lights as to whether or not I have a webcam for this particular model or there is something I am doing wrong?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hello

Sorry, but your model have only the built-in microphone. There is no webcam.

    Check the specs here.

  • Webcam does not work on my Satellite C850

    Hello

I am using Skype, but the webcam is not recognized.
When I open the Web Cam app, it says "Web camera initialization failed.

I downloaded the latest drivers from the Toshiba site (is there a difference between Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit?) and even uninstalled Windows Live I do not use it, but still does not work. I've never used the camera, but want to start.

    Thanks much :-)

    Hello

First check if the webcam is enabled in the BIOS.
F2 to access the BIOS. -> Advanced tab of the System Configuration
Here you should find the webcam (enabled/disabled)

If his license, go to the windows Device Manager and check if the webcam is listed there.
If it s are not it is your webcam software has not been installed correctly or the webcam module is malfunctioning.

and Yes: there is a difference between 32-bit and 64-bit version. Don't forget that you have chosen the right way!

  • Webcam does not work on my Satellite L650 - 10G

    Hello!

First of all, I must say that I'm a French user. For many months, my webcam is not working more. The pre installed Toshiba Webcam application disappeared so I tried several times to reinstall the driver on the Toshiba site without success.

Today, I decided to install Windows 7, as if my computer is new, as the first day. I thought it would help to solve this problem permanently, but once installation is complete, I couldn't find the Toshiba Webcam application. It's strange because this request must be on my computer time the first that I used it.

Does this mean that my webcam is broken? Do you have a solution

    Thank you
    Johan

    > Today I decided to install Windows 7 as if my computer was again...
It was a very good decision. It's the best way to check the operation of the equipment.
    >... I couldn't find the Toshiba Webcam application.
That s is somewhat strange. When you open Control Panel > programs and features, you should be able to find which listed there. All pre-installed software are included.

I m not 100% sure, but it should start with Windows by default, or you can start it manually using start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > Web camera Application.

By the way: web camera is in imaging devices under Device Manager?
