Satellite C660 - 217 Wndows 7-149 gb data (D) used

I have restored my Toshiba Satellite C660-217, Wndows 7 laptop to the default value of the plant, but when I checked in the folder of the computer, the data (D) space (149 GB) serves all upward. When I checked the individual files in data (D), it does not add up to 149 GB.

I was wondering why this is and can I do?
Thank you.

Hello

As I m not wrong not the laptop was equipped with a 320 GB HARD drive.
I guess it has been partitioned and three partitions are available (a very small partition is hidden and contains the files of Windows 7 repair)
The other two partitions, C and D are visible.

The C partition has been formatted before installation of the system. The D partition is not affected if you use HARD drive recovery option. In case you have used the recovery disk, partition D should be formatted to and recovery files would be saved once again.

    Hello

New on the site looking for some assistance.
    I just bought a used laptop. It s a Toshiba Satellite C600-217

I can t detect a webcam and supposedly he's built.
I looked in the control panel Device Manager and hardware but there's nothing for a webcam.

I am at a complete loss and would like to help please

    > I can't detect a webcam and supposedly it s were built.
    > I looked in control panel Device Manager and hardware but there's nothing for a webcam.

Salvation in a BIOS version there is an additional option to activate the webcam.
    Please check the BIOS.

If the BIOS provide no good option, in this case I assume that your webcam is down.
If the webcam module would be OK, then you should see something in the Device Manager even if the software/driver is not installed.

  • Change the shared memory in the Bios for the graphics - Satellite C660 217

There is no setting in the BIOS that I can find.

    BIOS is up to date

    Hello

    It is not possible.

Shared memory is assigned automatically and this is controlled by the graphics driver.
But the shared memory is only used if the applications (IE game) would require more graphics RAM.

  • Satellite C660-195 - recovery partition marked "D: / Data" and looks great

    Hello

1st time poster forum so be gentle please!

My mother just brought a Toshiba laptop and it is good enough to be honest. Take a quick look but I noticed that the recovery partition (which comes with most laptops now) is labeled "D:/data and 232 GB in size. Seems a little on the big side for me and I was wondering if this is incorrect?

Have a screenshot and if someone could confirm that it is I would be very grateful. Can I attach screenshots?

    Thanks in advance

  • Satellite C660 - D partition is full, but I only use the C partition

I get a message that hard drive, D drive is full, but I don't use that drive C. I thought D was for elements of recovery. How can I decide what elements should not be in d and how how to decide what to delete/move?

    > I thought that D was for elements of recovery
    This isn't 100% correct.
Of course, Toshiba Recovery files are placed in the folder of recovery on the D partition, BUT this does not mean that you cannot store other files on that partition.
    You can.

    >. How can I decide what elements should not be in D
Before saving the files on the HARD disk, you will be asked for the place. You can always decide where these files should be stored.

    > and how to decide what to delete/move?
It s your own decision to tell what files you want to move / delete.
If you don't care about t of some files and some files are not important for you, you could remove it.

I always install my programs on the system C partition. But the independent files such as music (mp3 files), images (jpeg, jpg, etc...) I always record on another partition

  • Satellite C660 will not restore, partition seems OK

    Hello

I received a Satellite C660 difficulty that not recover. Can I use F8 (or 0) to enter "REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER", but the screen goes all black. I booted from a Linux disk and partition 'Data' seems OK though I have no way to check all the files. What are my options? Is it possible to create discs of restoration of this State?

    Thank you
    Tim

    Options?
I guess that you have not created the recovery disc in the past. Fix?

Well, in that case try to access the recovery partition of HDD (using Linux?) and check if you can use the recovery image files to create recovery USB flash stick as described here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

Otherwise I think you have to order the recovery at Arvato disk in order to recover the laptop.
Of course if you have the Microsoft windows installation media, you can use it to install the system too pilots could be downloaded from the Toshiba UE driver page

  • Lost icon volume - Satellite C660 running Windows 7

I was wondering if someone could help me with a little annoying problem...

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660 running Windows 7, since working I could use the function button to turn the sound off, I lost the icon for the volume control on the taskbar... it's one of the things that I use a lot, so I want to recover!

I checked for other people with the same problem and there is a little, but most seem to be able to remedy this by going into the properties of the taskbar and by turning the volume on. The drop-down list is gray for me and will not work :( I can't restore the default behaviors and on the notification icons page it says she is silent, but "Show icon and notifications" is selected.

    I hope someone can help!
    Thanks for reading :)

    Hello

The sound volume icon belongs to its driver.
Recommend reinstalling the audio driver to address this issue.

  • Satellite C660-2QN and new battery

In fact, my Satellite C660-2QN battery wore out the other day (1 month out of warranty, typical!).
I checked Toshiba replacements and decided to see if I could get a cheaper.

I found on Amazon has announced a replacement battery for all satellites C660S, basically arrived today and I first noted it says on the back, it has been modeled for Satellite Pro.

When I wanted to incorporate into my laptop, it was too big, even if my mother, who insists that it is correct, in force. It went well for a while until the battery supported, how I plugged it.

However, the battery is not, or if this is the case, very slowly. He went from 6% to 12% in round one-and-a-half hours. So I pose the question, a battery Satellite Pro is a regular satellite C660?

Otherwise, I'll continue to use my old space and stay on the current when it is used.

    Kind regards
    Ryan.

    > Satellite Pro battery made a regular satellite C660?

    Satellite Pro C660 - 1KR PSC0ME supports 6 cells PA3817U-1BRS, 10.8V 4200mAh dimensions in mm: 206.8 x 45.1 x 20

Satellite C660-2QN is supported the same type of battery (model: PA3817U-1BRS).

  • Satellite C660 - several keyboard LAG

    Hello

I was the owner of a Toshiba Satellite C660 for about five days, and I already feel lag serious keyboard. As users of the model L270 and other posters on this forum, the keyboard has slowed down considerably and letters are being omitted, slow down the process of typing.

I tried to update my BIOS, many posters have suggested, but my BIOS is bang up to date.

I have not tried to remove the battery or something like that. Frankly if I do get my keyboard is working properly the computer goes to the rear and I'm demanding a refund.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

I've never seen users L270 here... As much as I know there is not a model for laptop

In any case, that s really strange and I have never heard of this problem on the Satellite C660. I think all you can do is updated the BIOS and using the pre-installed Windows version. If you still notice the same behavior, ask the seller for a replacement model.

I agree with the new: this t shouldn't happen on a portable five-day old.

  • Satellite C660-17J - power on the issue

    Hello

I bought a Satellite C660-17I and sometimes when I turn it on (now the power button for 2-3 seconds and then release) - do not turn on correctly eg - fan starts - power light lights up - but not the screen. If I pressed the power button, even after he died. So if I try again it lights up but the date and the time resets to 2008.

Ideas or will I have to return to Amazon as defective? (could not do without it!).

    Hi ebarnyard,

When you connect an external display, you can see something about that or is it always black as internal screen?

    > So if I try again it lights up but the date and the time resets to 2008.
Do you mean the time of Windows or BIOS?

In General, I would say this is no a behavior normal and in my opinion it s something wrong with the hardware itself. So I contact a service provider allowed in your country and ask guys to check your laptop what s wrong with it because repair is free of the time guaranteed ;)

  • Satellite C660 - 1 7 - installation newer Intel display driver

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660 - 1 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 64 bit running with processor Intel Core i3 [email protected] GHz and 4 GB of RAM. I use my computer laptop great graphics etc with Adobe CS5 and Corel Paint shop Pro Photo x 3 etc.

After only 2 months, I received an alert HDD saying he would fail soon. Yes, under warranty 2 weeks ago Toshiba arranged for a retailer authorized to collect and replace the drive it HARD that they did. Since then I can't use my graphics software. Now, I remember when I got my laptop I've had the same problem and it had to do with my graphics/video card and OpenGL. My own laptop and Toshiba Site repeated that all drivers are up-to-date. But when I went on the Intel site, I found that the Intel HD graphics card was not up-to-date. As soon as I updated, I was able to use all of my graphics programs.

The drivers installed without any problem at all. This time, although I gave a recovery to the garage to repair disc when my graphics software did not work. I went on the Intel site and once again there are more available updated drivers. However, when I try to install it says that I have now modified drivers from the manufacturer of the laptop and I have to go on the Toshiba site. Whatever it is, the drivers, I need aren't on the Toshiba site and I tried all possible ways I think to install those I want.
    Help, please!

Programs open when I click on for example Paint shop pro x 3 but when I go to save a picture or change it crashes and 'unresponsive' and I have to use the Task Manager to end the process. I need the same drivers I had on my laptop before the HARD drive has been replaced but can t bring Intel as Toshiba seems to have given up on updates.

Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance. John Scott

    Hi John,.

The problem is that only the Toshiba drivers are pre-tested on your system. Install the other drivers happens on your own risk, because they are not tested by Toshiba.

In any case, simply download the drivers on the Intel Web site. If the setup.exe file display you an error about incompatible drivers install them manually (I know that this message from my laptop). So go to Device Manager > right click on the graphic card > driver update. Then, choose the Advanced installation where you can choose the directory and the driver yourself. You are now able to install this driver :)

    Windows is damaged.
You must use the recovery discs to reload Windows.
If you need data from the HARD drive, you can use a USB SATA 2.5 "carriage to copy the data to another PC.

  • Satellite C660 - Diagnosis indicates a failure hard disk

Run the diagnostics on my two day old - Satellite C660 shows a failure on the hard drive. Check disk hard Windows ran without failure.

Can I assume that it is a false indication by diagnosis of Toshiba? The thread on this topic is not conclusive on this issue.

    Thank you Fred

    Hi frredi,

Diagnostic tool what you mean? It's the Toshiba Diagnostics tool that shows an error on the HARD disk?

If Yes, you must contact the seller of the laptop and ask for replacement laptop. Bad HARD drive sector you can still get but he s not recommendable to save important data in this regard.

So just give shop and take a new one. :)

    Hello

My HARD drive sometimes creates similar sounds.
I'm not quite sure about this sound but I save data always because some time ago one of my hard drives is dead and I could lose all my data so I would not have some backups created in the past of m

I recommend doing the same thing
Who knows what s wrong with the HARD drive, but I know with certainty that sooner or later all hard disks will die
