  No, it is not necessary.  But a Setup and configuration is necessary.  Essentially, you must do three things (maybe less if we're lucky):

  1. contact the manufacturer of the webcam for installation instructions (and anything else you need) to use the webcam on the internet.  If it came with the computer, contact the computer manufacturer.  He is the most likely solution to the problem.

  2. contact the Technical Support of Facebook (including instances) for assistance using a webcam on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/help/.

  If Facebook does not recognize your webcam right away when you want to share a video, click on the eye for cameras new button.

  Your Adobe Flash Player settings will be displayed.
  On the tab, make sure you only select the right type of camera you use with your computer.

  On the tab, you may also need to 'allow' Facebook to access your camera and microphone.

  If your settings does not work, try to uninstall Adobe Flash Player on your computer and download the latest Flash Player.

  Method 1: I suggest to access device manager and check under "Imaging device" If the webcam is listed or any of yellow exclamation point appears.

  Method 2: You can try to contact the computer manufacturer to install the updated drivers integrated webcam.

  I have a HP Webcam who settled in the factory on my pc laptop pavilion dv3510nr. I was able to take pictures with her when I'm on Facebook, but of course I can't understand yet how to do anything else with it at all outside of Facebook. I read something that said I had to download the latest version of Quickplay, but when I entered the information for my computer, Quickplay appears. I finally found something called YouCam and downloaded that. I downloaded the 64 bit version. I did it for the version 32 - bit still.

  I want to know if I need to keep download two sets of everything. I have 64-bit Internet Explorer available, but usually use 32-bit because not all websites have upgraded to 64 - bit yet. I'm just a little confused, I guess. I don't know when to download what version of bits. Can you help me?

  you don't have to download 2 sets of drivers. If you have a 64-bit operating system, then download the 64-bit drivers. 32-bit operating system you only need 32-bit drivers. Some 32-bit drivers will work for 64-bit os.
