Weird problem on Satellite L855

Hey all

I use a laptop Toshiba Satellite L855 Win 8 running, all was working fine until last night, after using it for about a half hour I went to stop, but instead it seems to go to sleep as the two lights at the front were still on, one whose power, blinking once I closed the lid which suggests a mode 'sleep'.

Now, here's the use strange bit, no key or mouse would be to bring back to life, I was a blank screen with the cursor, so after trying everything I could, I had to remove the battery, I started the boot and it worked but, on startup Toshiba it says configuration of the system, followed by the usual blue screen of windows update to search which includes the windows configuration of said, after which he went into win8 no problem!

It was about two days ago and since then, everything seems to work fine, but I was wondering what could caused from? any ideas anyone?

> it was about two days ago and since then, everything seems to work fine, but I was wondering what could caused from? any ideas anyone?

The cursor blinking in the upper left corner is especially a sign of drive problems HARD or memory.
In my case the blinking cursor appeared because of the faulty partition of HARD drive and this fact, the laptop could not start the Windows System.

But in your case, it seems that system works well, so we can only speculate about the real reasons

I have 2 laptops Toshiba Satellite, both for professional use,
the 3000, however, my pride and joy. I work in a very exposed position and people actually stop and ask myself... What is the brand of this laptop? Recently, I've updated
for XP Pro the 384 MB of Ram. However, the machine was still faster.
Until last night, at home, I wanted to work. I have
could not start windows. Finally a Dos window pops up saying "not properly connected IDE cable", as well as a series of short beeps. I took the laptop first thing this morning, tonight, what I was told that the IDE controller jumped because of a power surge, and I so need a new motherboard. Is it possible? I'm afraid that they spoil this machine. This laptop is much faster than Compaq P4 my husband.

    HI Muzikatz,

I also have a Satellite 3000 and it works correctly. I love the Sat 3000 because it's a well designed laptop which is with its integrated components very fast and strong. In our society we have about 10 Sam 3000 in use and we havn't a hardware bug again. In my opinion your IDE cable maybe loose by a blow or something else. Another problem might be that your RAM upgrade it damaged.

In my mind there is no other explanation for this problem. Maybe you could visit a Toshiba service partner to solve the problem. On the following site, you can find under Support / downloads - homepage to support a request for Toshiba Service partner

  • Weird problems with Satellite A130

One of my friends threw me a laptop to be repaired to it, because sometimes I agree fix stuff like this on the side as a courtesy (electronics/telecommunications engineer... If she caps and chips, usually I can fix it...), but this laptop has given me the most surreal and a bit stupid set of problems I have ever seen.

These are the problems of devices:

    1. when I got the laptop, it wouldn't 'Boot' that no Post or Toshiba splash appeared. Well... usually when I have this problem its because someone accidentally enabled the system to use an external monitor preference instead of the built-in one. Of course, fine. So after tinkering with it, I finally get a videohandshake...

    2. we execute compensation auto, complaining that the system not boot properly last time. However, it dawns on me, there was no POST or splash screen... somethings fish here.

The system recovered, so its now the vista boot, but I don't have the password for the girls tonight to connect and try to Flash a fresh bios on the system (thinking maybe its corrupt?).

    3. shutdown and restart...

    4. If I Press esc or F1 or force the system to hang on a keyboard error... all that I get is a blank screen, nothing comes on the screen LCD, PERIOD, unless I have let the boot completely system to vista. The all time to push the power, to the login screen of panoramas is a 100% Virgin, not even a light dark.

Nobody knows what the hell is going on here? I would like to enter the BIOS to do a complete cleaning of the hard drive and dish-reinstall/recovery, but since I have no screen, I can't say if I get to the bios or not, when I hit these keys after turning on.

Why is video handshaking only once it hits Vista? Thanks in advance... very help very much appreciated here

The previous user may have been using a monitor external and disabled the internal display.

Configure the monitors in the video (nVidia, ATI, Intel) card Control Panel. Configure to use the internal LCD only.

Also try resetting the BIOS to default settings.

Its also a good idea to run the recovery to freshly install Windows. The original installation windows may be corrupt, contain viruses, etc...

  • Satellite L855 - 12N - keyboard problem after upgrade to Windows 10

    Greetings friends,
the problem goes like this: I have a TOSHIBA satellite, L855-12N, Series notebook.

After updrading to win 10, some of my keys (a, n, enter) did not work initially.
If I wait for awhile, they start work later.
I find that I continue to press a button, (for example the button "a") for a long time, I see that he started to answer, then stop again and then answer - stop, until finally it works OK.
I tried to update the drivers, uninstall and then reinstall, but it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone know what's going on, or have any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    You are 100% it's a matter of Windows 10?
Looks more like a hardware problem, keyboard should replace.

Go into the BIOS and test the keyboard in there.
If it goes into the BIOS and then replace the keyboard.

If it's a software problem, try uninstalling the driver for the touchpad Control Panel, then reinstall it via Windows Update.

  • Problem with my Toshiba Satellite L855 - 14 c

Hey there guys. Last time I have a problem. One day, I was going down. There was a water and I wanted my laptop. But I slipped and my phone fell from the stairs. I was really worried. So I hurry took to the top. Power on and BAM. It didn't load Windows 8.1 but he showed something like: "No. Bootable Device Found. Please restart".» First I have if it is hard disk problem... So I brough HDD to my uncle. He tested the HARD drive on the other computer says it HARD drive is OK. Then I tried to delete and insert HARD return drive but still no change... . I think my uncle is right... I even tried to UEFI Windows 8.1 installation disk USB Bootable. The installation program is loaded successfully. But it was blocking "the installation program begins" about 4 hours. So I turned it off... Then I tried the installer again. I googled for help with DISKPART. But it has same problem that when I open CMD Setup (SHIFT + F10) and Type /diskpart it shows just something like:
    Microsoft DiskPart version 6.3.9600

So I don't know what to do. .

Please guys help me. I'm only 14 years old boy.

    My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L855 - 14 c

I think that HARD drive can have bad sectors, possibly in the region of boot sector.

Connect the HARD drive to another computer, run this utility to verify the SMART State and check the defective number of sectors/blocks.

  • Satellite L855 - 13G - cannot use the Webclaim service

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite L855 - 13G (PSKACE-04Y00CFR) in France last year, but this computer is already leading me in trouble!

The graphics makes noise, one of the USB port does not work, and now, without any change of software, the computer shuts off after displaying a blue screen with "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR".
This blue screen just randomly (say about two or three times a day).

I would send this computer for repair, but now I find something very weird: Toshiba has done everything possible to hide L855 - 13G!

All first of all without result on the Web site:
    https://www.Google.co.UK/#q=%22l855+13g%22+site:Toshiba.com

Second, the model is not listed in the support Center:
    https://www.Toshiba.fr/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/
When I enter the serial number: no result. Also using the fields ' or is your product "model is not listed.

Third, and better, I can't access the service of warranty claim for a Toshiba product for this computer: when I'm on https://weblord.toshiba-tro.de/Webclaim/ and I fill the serial number, the computer is identified (Alleluia), I have a green check mark for the status of the guarantee and "your product is still in warranty period."

But then, I can't click next and mention "product not available: Unfortunately your product is currently not available" appears instead.

So... apparently Toshiba is is best to forget about the Toshiba Satellite L855 - 13 G, but for unlucky enough to have people buy a what are the next steps?

I would like to be contacted by someone from Toshiba to get an answer or a proposal to change my computer or at least fix it!

    Many thanks in advance,
    Best regards.

    > I would like to be contacted by someone from Toshiba to get an answer or a proposal to change my computer or at least fix it!

First of all, I want to provide you with information on this community.
This is a user to user community where you meant fans of Toshiba. You won't find any Toshiba here people

Now some details about the fix for laptop:
In case your laptop computer s hardware began to malfunction, you can contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country in order to fix hardware problems.
Here on this page of Toshiba ASP you can find all available worldwide FSA:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

Last but not least, he should know that the warranty only covers hardware problems.
If in case the laptop does not work due to some software problem, the warranty would not cover the cost. This is why I would recommend you to retrieve the computer laptop back to factory BEFORE you contact the ASP.

I hope this info helps a bit.

  • Satellite L855 makes a noise and hangs expecially in games

    Hello.

I just bought a SATELLITE L855 - 10 p (http://pt.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?service=PT), with last Wednesday ATI graphics card, but my computer came with one problem (which I will try to explain, because already, I went to the store to pass for another and the cams newone with the same problem as the previous one, also the tecnic can't find the error). Now the problem:

When I'm in 'youtube' or 'windows media player' or expecially when I play LoL (League of Legends, online game) my computer freezes for a few seconds (one or two) and that it crashes, it makes a noise too.

If I'm with a helmet I listen to that noise in the headphones. I tried everything like reinstalling the video card and sound card drivers and it changed nothing, accidents and noise remain. I don't know what to do...-

Is there a solution? I can not even find what the problem... And tecnic store seems to not be able to solve either...

    I appreciate your help.

    Hello

Could it be that the system hangs during the second view and appears so this strange noise?
In most cases, the system hangs because the CPU is stressed and overloaded

Someone in this thread had some streaming video LAG
Maybe your problem could be solved also.

  • Freeze on Satellite L855 - 11K

    Hello

I have a Satellite L855 - 11 k (PSKACE). The problem I have with the laptop is the continuous gap.

    Explain the examples:

A game that does not demand a lot of features, CS (counter strike 1.6 network) I can not play, because I play + 70 fps and suddenly when we turn the camera or move in one area, the fps drops to 0 and blow less than 1 s up to 70 frames per second. No internet problem, the same thing happens in offline mode.

Another example are the videos, like youtube for example, a video of 480 p to my laptop I need to move smoothly, but must then image frozen (the audio continues to play) and I can't see anything. After 1-2 seconds veulve himself. But it's very annoying. (The same thing happens to 320p, 720 p or 1080 p). With vlc, nothing on this, but as I see the video I can't do anything more.

I also noticed that with any program when you save a document, photo,..., it is more expensive than a laptop with less energy.

Additional information: I have windows 8 x 64 (with windows 7 x 64 is the same), and I added a 4 GB module, so I have 8 GB (1600 MHz) ram. All drivers download from the toshiba website [http://www.toshiba.es/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=ES]. I also noticed that when I copy something to port hard drive VIA USB 3.0 for a short period of 4-7 s high-speed 40MB / s, but falls to 1-3 MB / s.

And finally, in the windows Device Manager, I see the Blast graphic processor (intel grafics 3000HD) (seen intalled readers of the toshiba website).

Finally, I tried all modes of windows, balanced, economy, powerful... and activation and deactivation of the refrigeration system strategy.

I can serult all this time lag and freeze?

PS: I also noticed that the laptop FAN 30% does not increase, even if the pc is at 90 ° +!.

    Hello

The laptop supports the AMD Radeon HD M 7670.
Therefore, the hardware specifications are good enough to play games smoothly or watch videos full HD.

In your case I recommend that you check the version of the BIOS. Maybe there is a new version of BIOS that needs an update more trying to update ATI graphics card driver

Also I recommend that you check the HARD drive for a possible malfunction.
The freeware tool called disk HARD drive fitness test could be useful, this software allows you to test the HARD drive

Otherwise I have no other explanation for the quoted question... it's possible and hardware or software related issue.

  • Satellite L855 - electricity on the aluminum frame

    Hi all

I recently bought a [Satellite L855 | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/series/Satellite-L855-series/1122208/] with an elegant blue brushed anodized... ^^

I think I have a problem with this amazing aluminium structure. When I don't connect it to the power socket and I slide my finger on the aluminum frame, everything seems OK. When I plug to a power outlet and I slide my finger on the aluminum frame, the touch is different as if there was some electricity in the frame!

Can you please check this on your L855?

  • Satellite L855-15U - soft noisecoming HARD drive internal

    Hello world

I recently got a Toshiba Satellite L855-15U and I hear its current soft grinding from the HARD drive in the laptop.

There is also a casual click and few sound type soft rattle. Looks sounds mechanical usual a HARD drive, but a sound, it would be expected only to be heard on computers 10 years ago.

There seems to be no noise reduction or elimination of the sound. Is - this standard with Toshiba and Hitachi?
My old notebooks were almost dead silent, that's why I'm worried.

It's an irritation more of a problem with the feature. The computer records any errors as well so that there is no obvious fault with the laptop as diagnosis is concerned.

I'd like some advice or suggestions on what all this means, before making any decision to return to the store with her.

    Thank you.

    > There is also a casual click and few sound type soft rattle. Looks sounds mechanical usual a HARD drive, but a sound, it would be expected only to be heard on computers 10 years ago

I know that noise of HARD drive.
I had a few external HDD 2.5 in the past and some of them created exactly the same noise.

All hard drives worked properly, but sometimes this noise was noticeable especially during the reading or writing data.

I guess that this noise is created by head of HARD drive.
From my experience this isn't a HARD drive malfunction but sometimes it s all just annoying.

  • Satellite L855 - 14K - random switching between power settings

My Satellite L855 - 14K is used when it is plugged. The screen changes every seconds bright for dim - at the same time the logo in the taskbar switches to [plugged, load] to [xx % remaining] and the plug is removed from the logo. I changed the setting to [high-power] power and changed the setting to never reduce or turn off the screen and the brightness of the screen has been set to the maximum. There is always an obvious difference and it makes me crazy.

The computer running Windows 7 Ultimate and has a 750 GB SSD, 16 GB of RAM, and software and BIOS are up-to-date. Battery and power have been exchanged with good known and the power supply is interrupted.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Fred

According to the specifications of the laptop your machine was delivered with Win8 64 bit. Have you noticed the same behavior with preinstalled OS original?
Since when did you notice this strange "switching" between the power supply and the battery?

To be honest, it's not easy to say with certainty what the problem is here, but I think that it cannot be software related issue. I can hardly imagine that software gets a sort of 'signal' of electronic power supply.

    The warranty is still valid?

  • Satellite L855, disk Blu - ray "error Code-19".

    Hello world

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L855 - 14 p PSKFWE-00U00MTE with Windows 8.1 6.3.966.
After updating my Windows OS 8.1 the blu - ray disc drive has stopped working (error Code-19).

All windows and Toshiba Service Station 6.4.4 are up-to-date (except the file 'The Toshiba Video Player' won't not very far, I installed several times).

    kindly waiting for support.

p.s.: I surfed online and came across the "upper filter registry values" (here's the link). With the help of regeditor.exe I just erased the "upper filter value" (from Hkeylocal machine\systems\currentcontrolset\class). Has nothing else.

Error code 19 means that the configuration in the registry information is incomplete or damaged
Check if this work around fix it:

-Go to Device Manager, where you can see ODD list. Click on uninstall and click Scan for hardware changes to load a usable driver.
-Then follow the procedure laid down in Article ID 929461 on the Microsoft Web site - http://smallbusiness.support.microso...n-us/kb/314060

  • Cannot adjust the brightness after display driver update on Satellite L855-118

    Hello.

I just bought a SATELLITE L855-118, with ATI graphics card today, it was between this and another of them, but I know that you have problems updating graphics drivers on a portable Sony.

    I did a restore point.

So I uninstalled the ATI catalyst graphics card and then did a sweeper driver and rebooted and then installed catalyst 12.6, installed fine, but my screen went to the maximum brightness and I can't adjust, BRIGHTNESS osd is displayed but the brightness of the screen does not change.

So I used my restore point.

This time I crushed the catalyst 8.9 with 12.6 stock, still cannot adjust the brightness.

Someone knows how to solve this problem.

My spec full in the link below.

    Do other combination works properly?

    Also check this doc:
