Well, when I manually put my computer to sleep or simply close the lid of my laptop, it reboots completely.

I had this problem before. I resolved for a few days, but then the problem reappeared. So I decided to wipe my hard drive and reinstall Windows Vista Home basic. I have Acer Aspire 5735-4774, 32-bit. I already went through all the parameters of power and its advanced settings as I was told the last time. Everything seemed OK, but I still have the problem.

When I go to the control panel and select power options and then "choose the closing cover" it not gives me the ability to change anything. I can see the options there but they are that a little gray color which means that you cannot modify them. I have a Samsung qx410-jo1 notebook and that as far as I know that they do not have a driver for it so I wonder if there is a way to ensure that I can change what happens when I close my lid.

  • Computer will not be put into hibernation when I close the lid

I have a problem with my laptop. It is a series of Toshiba C55. When I close the lid it will not be in hibernation, even if I set power options to do so. This happens not all the time, but it happens enough that it's boring. If I close the lid and it will not be in hibernation, which means that it is in danger of overheating if I put in my backpack. If I use the start menu, it just goes to the lock screen, that's what I suspect it is when I close the lid. Help on that would be great.

There is a key on the keyboard that puts your computer to sleep?

N ° you must do it from the start menu or yuu can be programmed to go to sleep when you close the lid if it is a laptop.  You can also create your own keyboard shortcut that will put the computer to sleep (but this isn't an F key).

For this kind of issues Stand-By and hibernation, I tend to start thinking about video drivers.

You did not provide the requested information on your video drivers or the way in which your Stand By button behaves right now.

If you did a system recovery from the CD supplied with your system, drivers on the recovery CD may be outdated or you may have updated your system in the past - that's why it used to work.

I could go to the wide wide world of eMachines Web page and see if you have the latest video drivers and update your system if necessary:

    http://www.eMachines.com/support/drivers.html

Looks like you need VGA driver version 6.14.10.3889.

You can find your current version by following the previous instructions.

In the meantime, since you think that your system has a type of infection, I also recommend to do this:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

  • Computer locking when I close the lid

I have a laptop sony vaio vgn-aw290. When I got it after you have configured the fingerprint reader it would lock the computer when I closed the lid. If I close and open it immediately and it would make me a password. He wouldn't buy support standby or hibernation, it would simply lock the computer. recently, we went to panama, fl on vacation and this feature no longer works. don't know why or how or exactly when. I looked through the settings and power options and may not know how to re - set parameters to lock the lid closed. I also have an HP that has begun to stay unlocked when I close the lid. I would like to know how to configure it to crash when the lid closes, so I don't need the screen saver locks with a password to send it in stand-by or press win + L before I close the lid.

    Hi Mr. Folse,.

Thank you for visiting Windows Vista Microsoft answers forum.

You can follow the procedure below to change the Power Options.

    1. Click Start, then Control Panel.

2 double click on Power Options.

    3. under "Advanced", set the option "When I close the lid of my portable computer" according to your preferences.

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
