  I have a folder on my drive called '282c1b9c4e7ff17037' C and I have no idea what it is.  It contains 25 records, a total of 99 files and the size is 17.6 MB.   An executable application files (exe and dll) and some other files are usually located in C:\Program Files.

  The data used by applications can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\Change Data.

  If the application is supposed to by used by all users, the data is stored in the Application Data folder that "belongs" to "All Users".

  If an application is supposed to be "customized" - as a browser that has separated from bookmarks or Favorites for each user, data are stored in the folder of the individual user change Data.

  Of course, there are other areas in which are stored the pieces of applications.  The reason that you can't move an application from one disk to the other simply by moving its directory of C:\Program Files F:\Program files (for example) is because most applications have pieces scattered in various directories, not to mention the Windows registry.
