What good is data if you are unable to use them

Hello;

My company has the same model of access to databases, regardless if its Production, dev or Test.

I believe that one size fits all models are wrong and takes a few comments Pro and Con why access should be the same or different.

I'm looking for comments on what differences in security, there should be between the different types of databases.

The only version has nothing to do with the issue it is because you are now to clarify your question to indicate that you want ignored version. Mark was correct since different versions have different features, for example to support the compression and encryption. You can't expect the same policy for DEV, which does not support the encryption you have a Production database that makes. Even with RAC - many shops do not use RAC to dev.

Also you never responded to the comment by Mark:

You provide no description of exactly what restrictions your employer has established that you have difficulties with

Would you support such policies for all of your environments?

1. the owner of the schema can delete data from any table they choose whenever they want.
2. the owner of the schema can grant all privileges for their objects to whomever they want.

I really hope that this is not what you mean.

The point being that it is many restrictions that should be different between the different environments in order to maintain the degree of control over these environments need businesses.

The data in the PROD environment are generally more sensitive and can have legal requirements that is allowed access to these data and what they are allowed to do with the data. These requirements may be significantly different from what it takes for a DEV environment.

Provide some details on what restrictions, your employer has that you think is a problem. Or provide an example of what you need to do in a particular environment and how you can get it done account with the restrictions that are in place.

The only argument that I have ever found to be effective with management is to document the COST associated with a policy or a rule they have in place. Can be the cost in resources, time. An example of this may be overload (resources, time) involved having to log a service request, get a DBA or just interested Weblogic create a table change DEV or check what are the mistakes may have been generated in a log file of Weblogic.

If they realize that the response time for that is several days to do something, that you could have done in a few minutes if you have the appropriate access then sometimes (not often I agree) you can get some things have changed.

But he must make a convincing argument that change is necessary and that this compromise any of their other concerns.

Which gives us that Mark was trying to learn. What are the concerns that caused management to implement their current policy, this policy is?

But to counter that... how many times have we seen code go to production and failure, because it relied on the least restrictive environment in dev? With decent QA and code promotion management in place, this should not happen, but too often I saw that this isn't the case. Certainly, we have seen this situation with commercial software that "requires" the application runs with rights DBA - simply because the developers were too lazy to figure out what was really necessary.

Why the last OS update cost me gigabytes of data when you are connected directly to my computer and ISP via Itunes.  29 February 2016

While it is connected to ITunes via my Dell system, I was informed of the latest OS update for my IPhone 6.  I decided that the direct connection to the internet would be the fastest way to download and install the software.  During the process I started to have some warning of our AT & T account that I approach the limit of our data plan, then in quick succession, only warnings, said I've reached the limit and then passed in the data, limit charges.  At the time it was done, I had accumulated more than 2 gigabytes of additional data charges.

Until that point, I was very pleased with the device and confident in the ability to use Wifi and data.  Due to this incident, I became very suspicious of the camera and the huge potential for data overcharges. It is extremely disconcerting as it happened while it is directly connected to the internet using my computer at home.

Please note that, in the episode my ISP and the computer is remained connected to the WEB with no sign of connectivity issues.

    Hi Rajazc,

It seems that the location that the software will search in the installation file has changed or disappeared. You can follow this path that he needs? When you re-installed, did you use the same exact path? You completely uninstall before you try to reinstall? Try this: uninstall the software, do a clean boot, and then reinstall making sure that you set in a different way.
