  • Why is the program data folder always items that I already deleted?

    Hello world

I'm just looking through my files and discovered programs I already deleted months ago for always being in the program data folder, one of the files contain still 159 MB of data by blizzard, I released the disk space and defragged my computer several times since the game has been removed.

So why is it?  If it's because the folder is hidden, why put non-essential data in there games so it cannot be deleted surely he isn't supposed to lose memory everything is there a reason I just can't think.

    Concerning

    Steve Willis

I can't speak for what is why specifically uninstall the Blizzard was incomplete, but it was probably caused by the data directory containing the files generated by the users. Generally, uninstall programs will remove anything that program install utility created, but the files generated by the user and possibly some registry entries are left for manual removal. I guess this is done in the belief that you can be uninstalled in preparation for a reinstallation of the software and do not want to lose the data you created.

A suggestion I can offer is to use Revo Uninstaller. There is a Freeware and a (paid) professional version. The Freeware edition is expected to be more than enough for your needs. The software quickly and completely uninstall the software that won't leave your computer and will ask you if you want to remove the common files (.) Dll, etc.), the entries in registry and files generated by the user without having to look yourself.

    Download Revo Uninstaller

  • cannot find the folder "program data".

original title: New Data - Program for Windows 7

I just bought a new computer with windows 7.  I am trying to install programs, for example, installing a program to C:\program data\Quantum.  I go to 'my computer' and can not find the folder "program data".  Is it possible that windows is hide it?

    Sandy

    Hi Sandy

The program data file replaced the all users in previous versions of Windows.

Open Windows Explorer. Click on organize / folders and Search Options / View tab.

Select the option Show hidden files, folders and drives, and then click apply/OK.

Navigate to C:\Users. In this folder, you will see a folder named all users with a shortcut arrow or the layering of padlock. It is a symlink pointing to the ProgramData folder. Right-click on the folder and select properties to see this data.

Your programs are not currently installed just for the ProgramData folder. This folder is used to allow any user (for all users) access to an installed program that allows any user to operate this program.

Many times, when you install a program, you will see an option to install the program for the current user only, or to install for all users.

Another way, you can see it is to click on the Start button, right-click on all programs, and select open all users. This will open Windows Explorer to the

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu folder.

  • Receiving an error on startup error: C:\Program Data\sytem 32\gameux.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error

    * Original title: error gameux.dll

I recently got an error on startup associated gameux.dll.

"C:\Program Data\...\gameux.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try to install the program by using the original installation media or your system administrator or the software vendor for support on the contracts. »

Later, I discovered that my Norton 360 had quarantined the gameux.dll file a few weeks ago marked as high risk Trojan horse.  After scanning this file in the folder of Norton 40, it seems, is not a problem and was not actually a virus.  Then I looked in the windows System 32 folder and found that the file gameux.dll is actually still there.  Maybe repeuple Windows there.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work.  Maybe an incompatible version.

I tried to put the old file in System 32, but ran into problems of owner "TrustedInstaller", which I didn't change without a little guidance.

Any ideas where I should go from here?

    Thank you!

    Windows 7, 64-bit

I don't know if you saw my post updated, but I'm sure that this question arises from Norton 360 brand gameux.dll file as a virus.  It quarantined the file.  Apparently repeuple Windows the Windows\System32 folder with a new file gameux.dll

I think that some programs may have been pointing to the old file gameux.dll quarantined.  Norton, he was put in a hidden folder in c:\programdata.

In any case, I deleted this version put in quarantine to gameux.dll and problem solved.  No more error on startup!

  • Why do I have a folder on drive C, called program data?

I'm running out of space on my C drive and watch programs that I can move drive D, but looking at the items on the C drive, there is this folder named Program Data, which I don't remember being on the windows or even on the C drive of last year. The file seems to be a duplicate of some of the programs in the Program Files folder. Can someone tell me if it is safe to remove this folder? The size of the file is 1.65 GB.
Would appreciate any help that can be given.

    John

It is absolutely necessary.  Removing it would make most apps to stop.

There are other ways to gain back space like delete temporary files, reducing the size of your pagefile, UN-installing apps you don't use and remove the accessories (such as games) that you do not use.

IF the shortage is radical you can even remove unused fonts (make sure that they are not used in first), etc.

Put the computer to boot and see if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit has a record of program data as well as the two program files folders?

Just got a Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit installation business, I noticed that some Instalss did not work properly. I noticed two folders in program files, I know are there for 32 and 64-bit programs, but I don't have a program data folder as I did when I got Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit

    Yes, you need to them.

Programs of data - stores data in your applications.

    Program Files (x 86) - stores your 32-bit applications

Program file - store your 64-bit applications.

This is only on 64 bit versions of Windows.

Its ok, so leave it alone.
