  I have just bought myself a nice shiny new computer HP laptop Pavilion dv7-3020sa - Windows 7 64 bit.

  I've been on the HP software and driver downloads page and I'm confused as to which updates (if any) that I need.

  Is it possible to know what are the current versions of the software and drivers, I already have on my laptop, so I don't download and install older versions than those currently installed?

  So far, I only did the BIOS update.

  I'll keep HP Support Assistant, for now.

  I don't know if it's just me, but my laptop does not seem to start more quickly after removing the HP Advisor and Hp Update.

  He saved the little hard drive space too.

  It is not mandatory to run enforcement services, you can disabled this service by making the file context entry s_jtffsstatus = "disabled" and run the automatic configuration

  The latest version of Safari is 9.1. Apple page on this subject is here. Perhaps the reason best/only to use an earlier version if you are using an older version of OS X (pre 10.9.5) or a former Mac (before Intel processor.) You told us all this, in your question.

  If you want to burn the permanent backup disks get cheaper discs of 'R '.  If you want to reuse the disks later get the disks 'RW '.

  It will be useful.

  PS - Its value in two copies as a double backup and store them in other places - just in case. Especially since the discs is not expensive.
