What is OEM embedded Windows 8 key came with everything HP laptop?

Hello everyone I am planing on buying a new HP laptop will be provided with Freedos
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04077266

I have a copy of the iso of an HP OEM DVD WINDOWS PRO 8.1 that I think I'll install once I get the pc during the search for the drivers for this laptop hp special page, it prompted me to choose compatible for win 7 64 bit or win 8.1 drivers 64-bit.
Second, I heard that newly made hp laptop have embeded authentic and official product in the bios that are more called keys bios so are - it true? and has anyone try?

so my questions are:

8.1 Windows will be installed on this laptop without problem? and the embeded key will work with windows 8.1 or is it for windows 8.0 only?

Thank you all.

Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

If you choose the selected model 15-d010sk, it comes with no Windows preinstalled on it, so no Windows embedded key anywhere.

I'm not entirely sure what exactly is this "HP OEM DVD WINDOWS 8.1 PRO" edition

If you choose to buy this one or one that has FreeDOS (a type of Linux) or anyone who has no OS, you can install Windows on your own your edition and license have you already (no key or license accompanying these machines - buy you or get your own).  After installing Windows, you can visit the site of HP and download/install all the drivers and you need for the particular operating system (for example, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, etc.)

Yes, this model has drivers for Win 7 and 8.1 (x 64 Edition) so yes, Windows 8.1 x 64 has to install and works fine without any problems.

  • If I use an OEM of Windows 7 key from a pc by the same company that makes mine (ASUS for example), it will be valid?

Questions of OEM Windows 7 key

I have a question: if I use an OEM of Windows 7 key from a pc by the same company that makes mine (ASUS for example), it will be valid? Note that my PC doesn't have the mobo it is changed or upgraded. I ask because a friend gave me a key which it has been used on another computer (same System Builder) saying that it will improve the Windows 8 operating system, and it will no more need. I really don't want to have any nagging restriction because my copy has been hacked, upgrade in Greece, costs 100 euros.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

This occurred after the most recent Windows update (around 7/10)? If so, the KB2962407 update may have been the origin of the problem. I fixed it by uninstalling this particular update. Details can be found here:

  • I lost my CD of Windows software, that came with my laptop. How can I get a replacement copy?

I want to format my laptop and re-install Windows Vista.

I lost my CD of the Windows Vista software, that came with my laptop.

How can I download of it Microsoft?

    Srinivas

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask them to send a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

  • is there a way to restore a computer on which windows is it came with, if you go to another?

If I have windows 7 starter edition on my laptop and a copy of windows Ultimate edition that I do not want to install. is there a way to roll back the windows Starter 7 if I don't like it?

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

I suggest before doing an upgrade Express of Windows 7 Ultimate, backup of your installation of Windows 7 Starter:

  • Going to replace my hard drive, I'm unable to use my OEM of Windows Vista 32 - bit with the new drive copy?

I plan to replace my current hard drive (which is functional, but not surprising in the first place) with a Solid State drive, which will help to my Alienware Area-51 m9750 notebook.  I find a reader fully compatible solid state, but I'm not there purchase Alienware.  I'm currently under Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit), and I still have the recovery DVD used to reinstall the operating system.  I reformatted my hard drive several times using this disc, each time that the deletion of the whole score and starting from scratch.  Every time I did it, I'm never asked to activate my copy of windows, mysteriously turned on when I boot on my new install of Windows for the first time, without even plugging the cable Ethernet first, and my house has no wireless network.

I wonder, if/when I install a new hard drive, will have a different experience somehow in regards to Windows activation?  I'm unable to use my OEM of Windows copy at all?  Alternatively, my windows mysteriously will activate itself without ever seeing the internet as it does now?

I love installing Windows and then do not need to activate it, and I hope I have that experience when I install my new hard drive.

I just want to know what to expect in terms of my ability to use my copy of Vista OEM, and what process I have to go through to make it fully functional.

    Thank you very much!

The physical hard disk (solid state or record) is not serious for the operating system that is installed on.  As long as the drive is a standard interface and does not require special drivers not work (and most don't), you should have no problem.

The recovery disks you are using are set to read specific information about the motherboard and as long as there is this particular information, that it is looking she will be triggered and doesn't have to go online to activate as the retail of Windows is required to do.  The only problem with this type of activation, it's that if the motherboard fails ever it should be replaced with a similar brand and model or autonomous activation fails and the operating system is an OEM version that is related to this motherboard and cannot be enabled on a newer replacement.
  • Re: Windows 7 Upgrade came with the bad language!

I have a Portege with Vista Business, Russian local. I ordered windows 7 Professional upgrade, but it came with the Greek regional settings. TOSHIBA Upgade language Russian and marked as RU, but Windows 7 Upgade disc recording is marked as EU2. All I know is there no option to change the regional settings in Windows 7 Pro. Now I have vista or win 7, as Portege comes with win Xp recovery disk. Your suggestions?

Contact Toshiba still and explain the situation. I don't know that you can clarify this soon.

By the way: why you don't have Vista now if you wrote in your first sentence don't have Portege with Vista Business?
Continue to use this version of Vista until you get just Win7 upgrade disk.

  • Can I use the Windows Vista I had with my Toshiba laptop on virtual machine?

    Hey all

I have changed Microsoft for Macintosh, but installed on a virtual machine (oracle vm virtual machine) my Windows Vista I got with my Toshiba Satellite A350D Notebook previous. I installed Vista with the recovery disk. Now he asks me the Windows Vista product key. The sticker on the back of my laptop is more readable. I run the Belarc Advisor to get the product key in this way. But right now, he said: "it's the product key installed at the factory by the manufacturer rather than yours. You can change this to your product key here for Windows http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=45668"

My question: am I not allowed to use windows vista legally, I had with my computer toshiba laptop on other devices? I won't use the Thoshiba laptop. Do I have to delete the record from the Thoshiba laptop? Where can I get a new product key?

Maybe someone can help me here. Thank you in advance for taking your time to read this.

    Betty

Recovery disk or recovery image is designed for some cell phone only and is not a kind of universal image that can be used on other devices. It comes with the laptop.

You can use the Microsoft Windows disk with valid license on each device. Recovery image is not only BONES. This is the package that contains the drivers and tools specific to Toshiba and utilities.
As you also know recovery image when you install it on your laptop must be turned on not so the license code downstairs just proves you have purchased a valid license with your laptop.
    > Should I remove the record of the Toshiba laptop?
    Not why do this?
    > Where can I get a new product key?
You cannot get it because you need when you use the recovery image on your Satellite A300D. I think even you will hear of Toshiba.
