Pavilion dv7-4065dx: created a support of recovery-but it failed; Can't retry

The original HARD drive has problems. With the operating system originally installed and my applications and files it would not conduct a CHKDSK /r

Using Macrium Reflect, I couldn't image or clone the C partition. It kept failing due to disk i/o errors. I could save my user account and other important documents on a USB key. So, no loss of data.

I ordered a new HARD drive and ready to make recovery disks and move everything.

However, during the process create discs of Reovery (that I used Flash media - not disks), a message pops up saying that recovery media creation has failed.

The flash drive was 64 GB, nine of its packaging. After the creation of recovery attempt, the flash drive is empty. No file has been written. Then, I tried to make records of recovery instead. But now when I run the app from creator of media I get the message 'media recovery has already been created for this computer. You can do this only once"(I've paraphrased... but basically - is it won't let me not try to create it again).

So, I'm stuck. At this point, I want to just install Windows 7 Home premium (which came with the computer) and get all device drivers installed. I have the product key for HP on the bottom of the laptop. But, no way to install the operating system.

What should I do now?

If you create your HP recovery media when you first set up your computer and waited until the hard drive started to fail, it is likely that the recovery image has been damaged and led to the failure, you see. Because the computer is six years old, HP sells more recovery media for this model. Please see ComputerSurgeons.com Set #: 616567-002 for discs of HP recovery for your computer.

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4065dx laptop with Windows 7 64 bit that won't start or go to the Bios screen.  When the laptop is turned on, you hear the fan from the system start, start button / stop brighter lights and the caps lock button starts to Flash continuously once every three to four seconds.  The activity of the disc is also light on but with no flashing red.  No changes have been made to the laptop and it worked perfectly well a few hours earlier.  I tried the hard reset of the computer and the reinstallation of the memory cards, but the laptop would be still not start.  Any help to determine what the problem is with the computer would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

A defective processor can be repaired by a local PC store, but I highly recommend you contact the HP support by phone to see what options are available. HP repair center would be able to identify the appropriate components that will need to be replaced in the rare case that the test gave flashing evil code.

    Hello

Right click the speaker in the taskbar icon and select "playback devices".  Double-click the entry 'Speakers and headphones' and in the next window, click the enhancements tab.  In the box containing these improvements, make sure that there is only a tick against "Legalization of Loudness" - remove all others.  Next, click the Advanced tab and make sure that "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality)" watch - if not choose this selection in the drop-down list. • Pavilion DV7-3079WM: software to Support and drivers

Support for drivers and software site is having problems or I am.  I use internet explorer 9 on windows 7 sp1.  Someone else has the same problem?

    Thanks to 200 tons

    Hello:

So pages work correctly, you must use Internet Explorer 10 or 11.

It is a problem for some of us who climb to IE9 such as those who have Vista or a new install of W7.

The workaround to get IE8 or IE9 to access the page of the pilot is to:

    1. activate the command bar at the top of the browser (click just to the right and check the option of command bar).

    2. then click on the small arrow to the right of the Tools menu.

    3. click on compatibility view settings

4 uncheck use Microsoft compatibility lists.

    5. close and refresh the page.

You will probably then a message you must run IE10 or IE11, but you can close this and get to drivers.

  • HP Pavilion DV7 BIOS - need to change AHCI IDE, but don't have no option to do so. The F.1A BIOS version

I get a blue screen STOP after the replacement of SSD drives. I had taken a picture SpotMau the week before so, fortunately, (I think) I will not lose a lot of work. Now, after the restoration of the image on a new SSD, I get a blue screen with:

    STOP: 0X0000007B 0XFFFFF880009A97E8

I have looked for help on this STOP and tells me that I need to change the setting from AHCI to IDE, let the operating system pick up the new device driver and then update after reboot. I know where to do on Dell and Lenovo machines, but this HP doesn't seem to have this option.

Can I update a BIOS later (the latest is sp55068 - F.1B) or make another change to allow me to make this change?

If it helps, Win7 x 64 with 4 GB of RAM on a 128 GB SSD. The old, defective, SSD was also 128 GB.

I tried to put in a 'normal' 320 GB 'plateau' HARD drive but get the same error so assume (with care) that it is relative to the creation of the AHCI/IDE.

    Any ideas?

In case someone is interested, problem solved.

It had nothing to do with the BIOS or defective material. SpotMau (for some reason any) created a partition of 100 MB to the front of the drive during the process of the image. This is in addition to the "SYSTEM" partition that creates Windows 7. Using the partition tool that comes with SpotMau I deleted this partition, fixed the boot record (also with a SpotMau tool) and hey-presto, everything works again.

Thank you for taking the time to read these ramblings. I hope this helps someone else.

  • SRM 5.5 with EMC SRDF. Full recovery but reprotect fails

    Hi all

I am fairly new to SRM, but have been plugging away in establishing a new environment that uses:

    vCenter 5.5 u1 (two Sites)

    Solutions Enabler 8.0.1.0 - 1953

    EMC SRDF Adapater (SRA) = 5.6.0 VMAX 20 k

EMC SRDF utilities SRA (and community VSI) = 5.7.0.2

    RS = 5.5.1.8569

I followed documentation provided by Cody Hosterman ~which is great and got me almost to the end.  I was able to successfully switch (recovery), a virtual machine using a test Stimulus Plan from Site A to Site B. It was working fine.

We don't use TimeFinder (unauthorized) and so when we realize the expected behavior once happened that the SRDF link has been broken. The State of the R1 to Site A device has become write disabled. The device of R2 in Site B became read/write and the State of the device group is "Fail Over". It is in SRDF asynchronous mode.

To try to 'Restore' the group, I see errors relating to the configuration of the storage to reverse direction.

    http://i.imgur.com/zWiGtT5.PNG

I checked the log EmcSrdfSra as suggested on the site now main SRM server and it seems that there is a mistake shortly after you have created a new consistency group.

    http://i.imgur.com/5hZT8HQ.PNG

I raised a support call with EMC with it directly as a first port of call, but it is in its infancy so I thought I would ask if anyone has any idea what could go wrong here. I have exhausted my googleFU skills and I'm at the stage of trying to get some eyes on the issue. I am happy to provide more information if necessary or to answer your questions - what someone might have.

    Really hope someone can help!

    Thank you!

    Hello

I got some progress with this so I thought back and share what he needed to solve this problem.

Essentially, in our environment, we have a VMAX in each site. We have now two servers Manager array with Solutions Enabler (on a Unisphere web) installed. The reason is that we have a VCE Vblock and VCE provided a nursery table server. In addition, we have built our own for the purposes of the SRM and other similar things.

In essence, we do not configured new servers of facilitators of Solutions fully and missing GNS on them. We have also put in SRDF pairs and above all: GROUPS of DEVICES on the old managers table manually. These groups of devices répliquiez not to the new servers, but the other config (Volumes, etc.) have been! So SRM was trying to talk to our new boxes and only really get half the information on volumes and above all the volume groups.

Once we have properly configured device groups on each site for the Volumes that were used for SRDF replication, everything started working. Since then, we have been in and double-checked the configuration manager servers on new table and all is good. This solved the problems that I posted above.

I hope this helps someone in the future!

  • Pavilion G7: Desktop Applications cannot access the Internet but metro apps can

I have a Windows 8.1. About 5 days ago from desktop applications (IE, Chrome, Google Drive Office) has ceased to be able to access the Internet at all.

However, apps of metro (metro IE, Facebook, Mail, etc.) can still access the Internet.

How could it happen? That the two environments use different settings? Is there a setting or registry entry that applies only to the desktop environment?

Analyses of viruses and malicious software (Malwarebytes and Windows Defender respectively) were not able to do what anyone. But since they are two desktop applications they have not been able to update their files of signatures since this problem started.

I found the answer on the Microsoft site on this topic.

The answer is to reset Winsock using this command from an administrator command prompt: "netsh winsock reset" and then restart.

I did and that fixes the problem immediately.
