I will help you certainly with the same. However, we need a few details to better understand the cause of the problem.

Werfault.exe is used to Windows error reporting. This is a feature that allows Microsoft to track and address errors related to Windows features, the operating system and applications. 2. choose system and Maintenance , go to Problem Reports and Solutions.

    3. Select change settings , and then choose avancΘs.

4 try to disable it temporarily and see if this will fix the issue.

As a temporary solution you can disable the error reporting service:

    (a) Press Win + R, type services.msc and press ENTER.

    (b) find Windows Error Reporting service in the services list.

    (c) make a right click on it, and then click Properties.

    (d) open the "Startup Type" list and select "Disabled" press OK.

Then check and see if you still get the error werfault.exe on opening the programs.

Hope this information is useful. Please do not hesitate to answer, in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Recurring Werfault.exe takes 99% CPU as

    Hello world
I came across a problem today with Werfault.exe. He showed up and quickly took about 100% of my CPU capacity, leaving me very little to work with (Vista) at very low speed. I have high speed internet, 2.3 GHz and 4 GB of RAM.
I went to Control Panel/System & Maint/Problem Reports and Solution/changing settings / settings advanced and disabled Windows Error Reporting for all on the network (desktop and laptop) and restarted. You know: Werfault.exe showed once again in the Task Manager.
I went to Windows Update, downloaded everything there was to download (most non-essential), restarted, my friend Werfault.exe returned. Pretty upset had at that time.
Tried all sorts of other things, none are effective, but you try in the hope that something works.
Finally, I got back into the Task Manager and noticed, you can highlight an offending exe and basically have using the 'End process' button at the bottom of the page, to the right. As usual, Werfault stood in two lines and share all my processor capacity.
For about 10 minutes, my CPU was a flexibility again after my action in the Task Manager. Then, the first Werfault came back, followed by "SearchIndexer.exe. I have seen that before - SearchIndexer after a brief period will replace Werfault.exe and we're back to square one.
Obviously, this approach works only a very short period of time.
It does not seem just to turn off something without going to the cause of why the 'belle' Werfault.exe arises in the first place.
I looked at a few sites on the web, but most do not receive further that 'disable Werfault in the controil Panel settings', which I did until I saw it.
So, I'm stuck. Windows O.S. is suffocating my computer by sending reports of Windows. Makes you think about how stubborn wrote the script for this type of help from Microsoft.
OK guys from Microsoft, if there is someone who knows how to get rid of the cause, but also a symptom of this error, it must be you. I hope you can help me as soon as possible.

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

Following the advice of Christmas, I found the root of the problem rather than knock off the symptoms.

Go to the observer of events (EVENTVWR. MSC in the search bar). You should start the Event Viewer (Local).

Top of page is "Summary of administrative events" with a series of Types of events. For me, it shows that I had 206 errors in the last hour, 6000 in the last day... and it got worse after that.

So, I expanded the section 'Error' and found the ad that was originally the most errors. For me, it was pretty far down the list, but he had 192 206 errors in the last hour, so I clicked on 'Application Error'. I double-clicked, and he brought me to a new page.

The new page is a description of what goes wrong, but what you REALLY need to do is look at the first line of the large gray box. It will tell you: "Application failed BlahBlahBlah.exe" or something. Once you have a name for the author, you can search your own computer for that and see that he is related to or search the Internet.

For me, my problem was service of nProtect netizen I picked up during the use of the internet in Korea. I guess it was panic now that I'm no longer in Korea. Then I uninstalled the nProtect service and BAM, no more WerFault.exe hogging my resources.

Seriously guys. Look for the source. Your computer slows down due to the creation of report Windows, but this Windows error reports? Fix THIS, and you did.

It offers you the opportunity to send data about errors to Microsoft and to receive information on the solutions.

You can access here Windows error reporting settings: Control Panel > system and Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions > change settings > advanced settings

    Method1

I suggest that you stop and restart the Windows error reporting service on the computer and check later if the problem persists.

    (a) click Start menu and type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) in the service list, navigate to the Windows error reporting service.

    (c) right-click and click Properties now to stop the service and restart it.

    (d) click on apply and OK

    Check if the problem persists.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I suggest that you perform the clean boot procedure to check whether a third-party program installed on the computer is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Windows Error Reporting service stopped recording of events in the event log, and now when it spawns werfault.exe, the process consumes the CPU until he is killed.

Windows error reporting service ceased to record events in the event viewer. The last successful entry was 26/03/2010. Since then whenever the service generates Werfault.exe to handle the error, the process seems stuck in a loop of consumer processor, but do nothing. It uses 99% of CPU (80% preferred), is not e/s and number of handles, thread, & working set do not develop.

Three Windows updates were installed in shortly after the last successful log entry (automatic update is enabled):

KB915597 def 1.79.702.0 & def 1.79.495.0 both for Windows Defender

    KB980182 for IE 7

I think that my system is clean, at least Spyware Doctor think it is. I also did some tests Ad-Aware. Windows Defender analyzes every day without error.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    Hi Wannknow,

It's good information - and thanks for the thanks! You really only need to run an adware or virus (malware) program at the same time. What I would recommend is that you choose an adware program - either "Windows Defender" or "spyware doctor" and disable the other. This can be your root problem, so at this point I turn back on 'report of problems and solutions' and see if you experience the same problem:

    Again, here are the instructions:

    1. open Control Panel. (Press Ctrl-ESC and type 'control' is faster access method).

    2. click on "System and Maintenance" and then click "problem reports and solution."

    3. click on change settings in the left panel of the problem reports and Solutions window.

    4. Select Advanced settings.  In the "for my programs, problem report is: ' select 'off '. Click on CLOSE the

Question: have you considered updating to Windows 8.1?

  • Very heavy use of the processor because werfault.exe

My machine is extremely slow due to werfault.exe.  Manager tasks shows the use of the CPU to 100% all the time.  The processes tab shows 2-3 instances of werfault.exe using all of the CPU resources.  This continues indefinitely and a reboot does not fix it.  The only way I could do my usable computer is by stopping the Windows error reporting service.  However, I fear that this eliminates simply a symptom and not the underlying problem.

I also met the very high disk activity.  I disable 'Run on a calendar' in the fragmenteur disk (after I did a full defragmentation) and I've also eliminated Super Fetch.  He did reduce significantly the disk activity, but there are always times when the hard drive is busy and I see no reason for this.

You go to 'Services' to disable werfault.exe.  Click on the Windows button or what it is called in Vista (the thing that replaced the 'Start' button in XP).  Enter 'Admin Tools' in the search box.  Right click on "Services" and then click "Run as Administrator".  After that 'Services' opens, search for "Windows Error Reporting Service".  Double-click it, and then you can stop it and turn it off.

I'm not having any luck with either.  Now as I type this, there are 2 instances of werfault.exe race and each consuming more than 40% usage.  "Problem reports" and Solutions show nothing.

It started shortly after I had installed Vista.  I had finished not even install all applications - perhaps began after installing SP2.

I think that I will reinstall Vista.  If the problem comes back, I'll have to go back to XP.
