What is the 55ms timer?

I heard someone there may be issues to be resolved times less 55ms in LabVIEW with Windows.  Can anyone give me more information about this?  This applies only to older versions of Windows like 95 and earlier versions, or is this something that still affects LabVIEW 7 and XP systems?

If this is not the case, what resolution times modern operating systems can provide?

From here, it is a doc that give some of the resolutions of the timetable for the various functions of Windows. It indicates the accuracy for NT is about 10 milliseconds for new versions of NT (about 55ms on Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT 3.1 15ms.)

  • Re: Satellite L750-1LU - what is the standby time battery 'common '.

    Greetings.

    I'm Rom of the Greece...
    I am a new owner of Toshiba (a few days ago) and my question is the BATTERY LIFE.
    I have a Sattelite L750-1LU and I wonna know what is the 'common' stand-by time for this laptop battery...

    When I bought the laptop (with all these countless TOSHIBA utility pre-assembled), my laptop did not stay... more... 1 HR!

    I already have a Greek contact with the technical team of Toshiba, but since they told me... the battery throughout the night the first 3 - 5 times (was... Lithium-ion battery didn't need such thing!), I wonna contacted a person non - Greek Tech.

    I already spend a few days and found a lot of interesting tips to increase the battery life, I did it, I removed the pre-installed Windows 7 with all Toshiba Utilities and I installed one pure "fresh" Win7 WITHOUT ANYTHING else (except all the drivers, I took half day... to collect) and now I think that the battery life is quite better (about 3 hours and some)...

    But I wonna know exactly what is the 'common' battery standby time, for this model, I bought.

    Please, answer me back.
    Kind regards.

    Hello

    The laptop is supported by a battery of 6 cells 4400mAh
    It is a common battery that is built in series of laptops different, and it should be possible to extend the battery up to 3,5-4 hours work.

    But be aware that the battery working time depends on notebook use.

    Various factors may change the time of working of dough: brightness of the display, for example, use of CD/DVD and HARD disk drive, the CPU and cooling performance module all of these parts would drain the battery more slowly or faster depending on the settings.

    Working with the applications Office could slower battery as a game or watch movies on DVD.

    The formula is: t = Q / I
    t = time
    Q = electric charge (Ah)
    I have = amperage (A)

    So if you want to use Notepad for example 4 hours then all laptop computer s devices should not use more than 1000mA - 1100mA in an hour.

    Memo

    Hi Memo

    Not sure I've ever seen it 2-3 seconds (past), and I worked on some sites with substantial material.

    40 seconds isn't too bad.

    Also consider this. If it's the first payroll run for an assignment given in the tax year then there will be a certain amount of overhead recovery with initialization balance etc. This is true for pay normal works as well - the first run in a new tax year will have a more runtime due to the way in which the dimensions of assessment of the tax year are 'reset' etc.

    Most people would probably not use Express to treat someone through several consecutive periods of treatment, but if you have a test/development environment you might run your first Express for an assignment and then move on to the next pay period and run a later Express. I expect there will be an improvement in the run for the second time (assuming that its still in the same tax year :))

  • What is the latest time Possible, I had to upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows Vista SP 3 Home Premium?

    Mainstream support for Windows Vista ended on the extended support ends 10/4/2012 on 04/11/2014. Standard support for Windows 7 ends the 13/1/2015-extended support ends 14/01/2020. However, I have seen conflicting reports on whether or not my editions of these operating systems use will be updated under the extended support. For example: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=11920&wa=wsignin1.0 and http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=14484 give a date until when these operating systems will be supported in respect of extended support (and I chose the editions of these operating systems use).

    Is anyone able to solve this problem?

    In addition, if these operating systems do not fall into the extened support, is it urgent that I improve my Vista PC to Windows 7/8?

    Hello

    When you're ready to.  I got a Windows Vista unit which still works very well in her new home.

    Rather than update why you do not take a look at some sales for Windows 8/8.1 units.  There are really some very good deals on the internet.

    That means the end of Support

  • What is the right time to call the pushScreen()?

    Hello

    I made a screen that simply indicates "Loading"... "while my app works through its processes. the problem is that the screen never had pushed until after the function when pushScreen() is back. the call looks like this:

    function func() {

    //I'm hoping the loading screen would be pushed right here....

    app.pushScreen(loadingScreen);

    //app does its stuff

    return;

    //but instead the screen is pushed after func() finishes.

    }

    what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

    Edit: I forgot to mention that this function if calling from a menu item, and in fact the menu itself doesn't close until after func() is done. How can I fix it?

    Or, a bit simpler:

    new Thread() {
        public void run() {
            // do the work here
        }
    }.start();

    Somewhere in run(), once the work is done, you can call Application.invokeLater (), passing an executable to update the UI with the results. (Alternatively, you can update the user interface of a separate thread by synchronizing on the object returned by Application.getEventLock (), but that is more complicated).

  • What is the right time to use the index with force?

    I have an EMPLOYEE table.  I join with the ROLE, and it has only about 200 distinct values on column EMPLOYEE. EMPLOYEE_TYPE_ID.

    Select / * + INDEX (an i_employee_type_id) * / b.SID as EMP_NAME, b.role_cd in the ROLE

    Of

    EMPLOYEE,

    B ROLE

    where

    a.EMPLOYEE_TYPE_ID = b.EMPLOYEE_TYPE_ID

    AND a.EFFECTIVE_END_TS > = systimestamp;

    Is it a good idea to use the index?  .. Or let the full table scan.

    SQL > select distinct EMPLOYEE_TYPE_ID of the EMPLOYEE;

    238 selected lines.

    If you don't know it will help not to use.

    Personally, I found several SQLs with index finger tips (written by programmers thinking index access is ALWAYS GOOD) end up harming performance. Oracle made a reading diluvium full table scan, single index reads as follows, according to the % of the returned array it is actually faster to do a full table scan. The optimizer did a great job to determine this.

    If you think there are cardinality estimation problems, and the optimizer expects a large number of lines when there are actually few being returned, in THIS case a suspicion was justified. Even so, in this case, I prefer that oracle manages the flag itself.

    You can do this by running the SQL tuning advisor. In fact, it will trigger the optimizer checks that the estimates are turned off and it will create a profile for you. (A profile is actually a stored set of advice that set the execution plan for you). If at the point where the underlying data changes significantly and profile ends up hurting performance, you do not need to touch the code like you would with manually added notes, you can just disable or delete the profile and let the optimizer re - analyze the statement.

    Concerning

    EDIT: In case of small tables, it is preferable to just cache the whole table in the POOL to KEEP and let oracle scan if necessary.

    Edit2: With the notable exception of index fast full scans, which are diluvium index readings. But they are only relevant when the request is quite satisfied by the index and has no need to visit the table.

  • Our time capsule will blink a light amber and utilities said that it is overheating. What is the problem?

    We had a problem with our (less than 2 years) time capsule - the light yellow flashing, the fan runs often and looking in "utility" on my mac, it says that it is overheating. What is the cause of this?

    The Time Capsule fan runs constantly, so you shouldn't be aware of the fan running on the time Capsule 'often'.

    If you receive a message that the Time Capsule is overheating, there is probably a problem with the internal power supply on the Time Capsule.

    If you have an Apple Store near you, it would be wise to take the time Capsule to let the experts check the issue and discuss your options.

    A lot of users on these forums recommend OWC (www.macsales.com) Mercury Elite Pro series JEP due to their durability, affordability and quality of construction. I have about 6 of them connected to my iMac and have never had a speaker to fail. When a hard drive fails, substitute is a 5-minute process to re - use the box. • What is the best solution when my external drive for Time Machine is full?

    Hello

    I use the latest version of Mac OS X on my iMac 27 ". I use a drive outside of 3 TB G-Tech for Time Machine backup. Due to my recently many RAW photo images, I have less 8% left storage on my external hard drive, so I'm trying to figure out next steps in what concerns the strategy of external storage and have the following questions:

    • When my external drive for Time Machine is full, it is my understanding that older backups on external hard drive will be deleted to make room for newer backups. If the oldest backups contained pictures (whose records have not changed since the time they are initially stored), then I guess that these photos will be removed from the external drive - correct?
    • If I had to replace my external drive for Time Machine with a new external drive which is as big or bigger than the one it replaces, what should I expect on the size of the initial backup on the new drive? I guess the size of the backup would be exactly equal to the current amount of storage used on my drive hard iMac - correct?
    • Would it not be possible to connect the external drive for Time Machine existing at a new Time Machine external drive so that when the original disk is full, the overflow will be automatically stored on the new external hard drive for Time Machine? (If feasible, it seems that this strategy would maximize my external storage capacity vs just replace external drives.)

    I realize that my first two questions are rather basic, but I don't want to make any false assumptions. The third idea is intriguing and I would like to know if this is a viable option.

    Thank you

    Brian

    older files are starting to get deleted because the disk fills up then Yes, they went

    the backup drive should ideally be 4 times the capacity of your current drive, twice is good but has its limits. Also factor in what you store: a jpeg from the web and a raw photo file are the two images, the size of a is very different. If you work in high-resolution or large native files, or audio files (record pro, no music files) or video production twice the disk fills up very quickly. If you collect photos and JPEG and mp3 files or a handful of videos not so much is necessary.

    I would keep the old drive intact if you want to replace and start over with a new drive, if that's the plan. You have the old data, you can keep it somewhere safe and have a redundant backup which you can reconnect at any time to restore from. Let the new index drive itself with new data and take if from there, in the case otherwise you can copy the backup to the new drive and set the drive as the new source of backup but personally I wouldn't copy of the data, that's my preference, it may not be yours and that's fine.
