  Hi guys! I currently have an Alienware Area 51 and I got back in the PC a little more that when I brought the machine. This means that I am looking to update, but I am limited by the motherboard, because it doesn't support USB 3.0 PCI Express 3.0 and SATA III. • BIOS update - save the current BIOS first?

  I'm of the Canada. Don't know why he brought me to the American site to ask questions... fail.

  But anyawys, I have a SONY VAIO laptop, which currently has some bugs (shading on the random display).

  My VAIO Update program warned me that there was an update of the BIOS available that could solve the problem.

  Instructions on how to update the BIOS were pretty * straight forward, and did not mention the current BIOS must be saved in case of installation errors. However, when I Google searched, many websites have mentioned that it is very important to backup the current BIOS and needs to be done (which I don't know how to do). Now I'm confused because the SONY Web site mentioned at all that I have to save anything. I also wonder if the other stuff on my computer should be backed up before upgrading? Like photos, documents, etc.? I have not immediately an external hard drive. If anyone can help me with this, it would be great. Thank you.

  I'm sorry but there is no software that can create a current backup of the BIOS on our Web site.  Because you are dealing with the BIOS, it is strongly recommended that you back up your data in case where... If you do not have an external hard drive, use a USB flash drive or save it to disk...

  We had settled on 800 x 600, but since we use a Table of contents on projects, this means that people using 1024 x 768 on their office do scroll to the right to see the entire slide.  If we use 720 x 540, everything seems to be fine.

  On some web pages, I've seen 1024 x 768 recommended as the minimum resolution to develop for, but that seems to be a little dated now that more people are getting wide screens. What minimum aim for you (especially if you add a Table of contents)?

  In my company, we use 980 x 560 px because it fits perfectly into our LMS framework and corresponds to a screen of 1024 x 768. We do not use the table of contents so the 980px wide is the actual content area.

  Most of our users run 1280 x 1024 resolutions, but we have some more using the old trust 1024 x 768 while we always aim the smallest resolution as scrollbars ongoing e-Learning will kill your course.

• Satellite A50 543 - what is the correct BIOS?

  My friend has a portable Satellite and the internal CD drive is broken and its Windows had a virus and was showing strange behavior I want to install XP to clean. Does not support BIOS current ver 1.2 boot from USB CD-ROM drives. In the support section, I found a worm 1.4 BIOS that says in the description "adds this Bios Update expands the functionality of your system.", not very useful.

  The bios file is called bios - 20070808112012.zip for model Satellite: A50, model runs no.:PSA50E.

  I know this is probably a redundant question, but just to be sure I can be sure it's the correct BIOS that I am not too familiar with Toshiba naming scheme.

  If you don't find this BIOS on Toshiba website for your model laptop is the correct version. I mean why Toshiba has release a bad BIOS doesn t work?

  But I searched a bit using Google and I think that it of not possible to boot from USB also with the new version of the BIOS. This is possible on the new laptops and Satellite A50 is old enough, so I think that in this case, you need to replace the CD/DVD drive. Maybe you can get a second hand one from eBay that is cheap.

  But if you install XP from a Microsoft disc, a CD/DVD drive isn't necessary. Copy the folder integer i386 to the HARD disk and start the WINNT.exe file.

  Don t worry and download the PSAA9 bios toshiba cuts the last digits of the model number as the last digit probably the region or the country described. I don't know, but what I know is definitely PSAA9E than PSAA9.
